Washi-ing you a sweet Christmas

cyp2nddec 001

At Craft Your Passion this week the challenge is  “We Washi You A Merry Christmas”.We have the fabulous 2 Cute Ink as our sponsor too.Head on over to check how to play and win.Don’t forget to take a look at the DT inspiration, they’ve done a wonderful job.

Here I’ve printed the adorable Gingerbread Girl by 2 Cute Ink directly onto my kraft card base and coloured her with PolyChromos Pencils blended out with low odour oils thinners using paper stumps. The white icing is a Souffle´pen.I added a couple of strips of washi tape down the side and topped it with a die cut flower with this sweet brad through the centre. The sentiment was stamped directly onto the base too.I’m so late making my card this year…this is kind of my signature style for this season.

After finding a few tutorials on how to make you own washi tape I thought I’d like to give it a go.I didn’t have the Scotch Magic Tape they suggested but thought I’d try it with some cheap clear sticky tape (99p for 2 rolls in The Works). It’s quite easy to do.Basically you stick the tape to your chosen patterned papers using a bone folder to eliminate air bubbles (I found it easier to trim it afterwards).Soak in water for approx. 10-20 seconds.Gently rub the paper off the pad of your finger whilst it’s under the water. It’s more about the soaking than the rubbing so if it doesn’t come off easily leave it in the water until it does so you don’t scratch the pattern.BUT of course the hardest part was waiting for it to dry…lol… 😀

This is a great technique as you are not limited design wise and you can match it to coordinate with any of your craft collections.Best of all you get to use your scraps! How many of those leftover strips of paper do we end up with?

This is the result :

For this one I printed out the equally loveable Gingerbread Boy by 2 Cute Ink using the same colouring methods. The washi tape turned out not too bad,eh?Was a bit worried how it would look against the kraft but I think it’s OK 🙂 Maybe the matte tape would give a more authentic look than regular tape however I don’t mind.If you give this a try yourself you MUST remember to use adhesive on the back of the tape strips 😉 This time I finished it off by adding a glittered chipboard piece with a cute gingerbread man brad from the same collection as the papers I used.A different sentiment has been stamped to mix it up a little.

Christmas krafting

It’s my turn to play host at Willow Sketchie Challenge this week and here’s  my sketch :

I’ve also chosen the theme of Get Krafty – use kraft paper/card in your project. You can either work with the sketch and/or theme. You could be the lucky winner of a voucher to spend at Willow Designs too! As well as a winner (chosen randomly) there will be a hand picked Top 3 and they will receive a super cute badge for their blog.Don’t forget to stop by the challenge site and check out my fellow DT’s beautiful creations.A truly inspirational bunch.

For my card I’ve used Fast Asleep clear stamp by Willow Designs.I’ve stamped onto kraft card and coloured with Copic Ciao and Sketch Markers. The fluffy bits of the image have been coloured with a white gel pen and once it dried I shaded the edges with a pale grey Copic Ciao Marker. The two kraft squares were dry embossed.I stamped the sentiment and snowflake on the triangular piece. Some pearl brads have been added to embellish. As you can probably tell I rotated the sketch.

Owl’ve been good!

It’s time for another Willow Sketchie Challenge brought to you this week by Pauline. And here’s her fabby sketch :

Pop along to the challenge blog to join the fun!You don’t need to use a Willow Designs image but we’d love it if you did!

The DT have made some truly inspiring cards using Dear Santa from Willow Designs.I’ve coloured my image with FlexMarkers.I’m a bit limited with colours at the mo’ but I wanted o colour just using them.I’ve inked in pink around the edges to add a little definition and also added a snowy effect with some Frosted Lace Stickles.I just love these pretty papers and the card I found that goes so well with them.I had the teeny punched out stars from another project and topped them with some gems.A length of grossgrain ribbon has also been added for texture.

Splash!

A Drop in the Bucket challenge has been set at AiFactory Challenges this week .So we’d love to see your water themed creations. You don’t need a AIFactory image to join in but there are some freebies if you’d like one of their images. You have until Wednesday 9th March 11:59 EST to upload your project.Stop by the challenge site to check out full details.Don’t forget to take a look at the wonderful DT creations while you’re there!

I’ve used Ella Under the Sea – Digital Stamp Image 2 for my card. The first thing that popped into my head when I saw this image was this scene. So I couldn’t help but go with it.I’ve flipped one image and made it smaller. Both have had their hair and skin coloured with Promarkers and Copic Atyou Spica pens have been used everywhere else.Although the glitter doesn’t show too much in the pic.I’ve added pearls in their hair using Liquid Pearls. The base card has been made from a sheet of white card punched with a Martha Stewart set.It was then the perfect size to attach to a 5″ x 7″ card. I used the border punch to create the waves. The rock and sand were hand cut and the sun was made using Nestabilities. The banner was made by cutting a strip of card, stamped with words from a Christmas set (!), and then snipping into the end.The pearl dangling from the edge is actually from a bra I bought.Don’t worry I cut it off BEFORE I wore it as I thought it was too bulky and would show through my clothes!!
