This little She Devil gets my votive ;)

cypdt28thoct 001

At Craft Your Passion this week the challenge is Halloween. We have the fabulous Just Some Lines as our sponsor too.Head on over to check how to play and win.Don’t forget to take a look at the DT inspiration, they’ve done a wonderful job.

I got the idea to make this here, just changing it up a little to suit my crafting supplies and my own ideas 🙂 This sweet Halloween She Devil is by Just Some Lines and has been coloured with Copic Ciao Markers. From the back of my cupboard I dug out this jar that somehow seemed to have lost it’s lid!Knew it would come in handy one day 🙂 I discovered this paper in my local craft warehouse and then inspiration struck! So using my Japanese screw punch, using a variety of  tips, made holes in the eyeballs and circles on the paper.Next I added the punched strip at the bottom and the thinner piece around the top edge of the paper is actually  the leftover from that. The web ribbon around the top was trimmed to fit.Being white originally I took a Black Copic Ciao and using the chisel end transformed it into a more creepy looking dark web.I could only find my finer craft wire so the handle is more decorative than functional. It’s just one length wrapped around and twisted in place. The beads, saved from an unwanted brooch, came in handy to cover the ends of the wire.As you can see I’ve done a fair bit of recycling, upcycling, being cheap….LOL….whatever you want to call it!!Sometimes it’s just nice to take a load of junk you have hanging around, get creative with it without having to dash to the shops and buy anything special….but of course it’s nice to do that too 😉

Here she is all lit up :

cypdt28thoct 002

Considering I had no idea how this was going to turn out I’m pretty pleased with the effect. You’ll have to ‘scuse the photo a bit,my camera automatically went into nighttime mode.

Mind you I wouldn’t want to put it outside today as in the UK there have been severe storm warnings issued. It’s been a pretty wild, wet and windy night/morning here but I think we have got off fairly light compared to some parts of the country.Others, sadly have not been so fortunate 😦

Voo-doo you think lives here?

This is the last week of the Happy Boo To You challenge at Just Some Lines.Wow!Can’t  believe that’s another month over!To play along you need to use a Just Some Lines image to enter and you could win a fantastic digi stamp if you’re picked as part of the Top 3!

So,I made a cute little house for this little fella to reside in 🙂 He’s called Voodoo Doll by Just Some Lines and he’s been coloured with Copic Ciao Markers.I coated his button eyes and the watch face with 3D Crystal Lacquer. After researching on the ‘net I found that they aren’t always used for bad things as they lead us to believe in films and on the telly. Some other info showed that they can come in different colours or the pins can be coloured too to mean a variety of things.I went with coloured pins. His home is actually a template for a sweet Gingerbread house that I found in Cardmaking and Papercraft magazine so adapted it to accommodate some Halloween  sweets. The sides have been embossed with a folder and the roof has been scored for a tiled effect.I also trimmed the edges with deckle decorative edge scissors. An inverted scallop die has been used to frame the aperture and some punched fencing has been used to surround his property.

For my card I’ve use the gorgeous Elly Framed by Dilly Beans and coloured her with Copic Ciao Markers.I managed to scrape together the last of my usable pink papers and card to layer a background for her.Phew!I’ve  added some pretty Shimmer Dome Stickers – love their sparkle 🙂 Along with some recycled ribbon and a leftover piece of Raffia Lace. The rolled roses were made from spiral cutting a 1″ punched circle and I’ve placed a couple of die cut leaves in pink,of course 😉 The sentiment has been stamped onto a tab I’ve created from a trimmed down die cut.So one very pink creation!

Look what I “spider” doing!

jsldt19thoct

Just a reminder that the month long Happy Boo to You! challenge at Just Some Lines is still open.To play along you need to use a Just Some Lines image to enter and you could win a digi if you’re picked as part of the Top 3!

For my card I’ve used The Eater by Just Some Lines and coloured her with Copic Ciao Markers, adding some silver gel pen to her zipped mouth.I decided to display her on a Modified Tri-Shutter Card and I found the instructions here,I did cut the pieces out with a paper trimmer rather trust my dodgy knife skills!.The papers are some freebies from Bearly Mine Designs and all edges have been inked with Distress Ink.I chose these arch shaped dies as not only did they fit her perfectly I thought they added to the mood of the card.More gel pen was doodle to create a frame around her and to tie in with zip.I cut a couple of pieces of Web Ribbon – pretty apt,eh? – and placed then in opposite diagonal corners. The larger piece has a spider that I salvaged from an old pair of my DD1’s shoes!!I knew it would come in handy one day… 🙂 I added a question mark to the printed sentiment,by Bird’s Cards,as in my book munching on a spider would definitely be a trick but I’m sure for this creepy gal it would most certainly be a treat!!

At Craft Your Passion this week the challenge is Heavy Metal. We have the fabulous Stamping Dragon and The Robin’s Nest as our sponsors too.Head on over to check how to play and win.Don’t forget to take a look at the DT inspiration, they’ve done a wonderful job.

For my card I’ve used the sweet Penny’s Pudding by Stamping Dragon and coloured her with Copic Ciao Markers.I then cut her out and added her to the holly embossed piece of kraft card, which has the bottom corners rounded, using foam tape for dimension.I then adhered this to a card blank which I also rounded the bottom corners of.I laid a couple of strips of washi tape across the top.I die cut some holly leaves and topped this with a button threaded with baker’s twine. The sentiment has been stamped in red ink then clear heat embossed. This way you don’t have to worry about stray flecks too much 🙂  A 1″ punch fits this greeting well,so no fiddling about to cut it out.I did ink the edges with the same ink pad to give a better finish as this card has a white core.

Coffin’ Candy

jsl12th oct 001

Just a reminder that the month long Halloween challenge at Just Some Lines is still open.To play along you need to use a Just Some Lines image and you could win a digi if you’re picked as part of the Top 3!

I’ve used Happy Boo by Just Some Lines, who just happens to be this month’s challenge freebie, and coloured him with Copic Ciao Markers. After fussy cutting him I mounted him onto some purple card and cut him out again leaving just a fine border for definition.I made a coffin box without the lid so that it could used openly, more like a tray.I found the template here. The box itself is made from a piece of wood grain paper (altho’ it’s more like thin cardstock) and I lined it with some purple patterned paper. The edges have been inked. To cover up my dodgy cutting out?Surely not 😉 I have to confess I haven’t bought my Halloween sweets yet so I grabbed some scrummy Peppermint Aero Bubbles out of the cupboard.I thought with those colours they’d do the job 🙂 The reason I didn’t add the whole bag is so you could see the beautiful paper and not ‘cos I’d scoffed them – honest 😛

Happiness is a warm puppy :)

At Craft Your Passion this week the challenge is Heavy Metal. We have the fabulous Kenny K as our sponsor too.Head on over to check how to play and win.Don’t forget to take a look at the DT inspiration, they’ve done a wonderful job.

As soon as I saw this loveable, comical Happy Dog by Kenny K I just had to use him on my card XD Maybe it’s because he reminds me so much of my girl :

003

Such a happy dog 😀 She even smiles when she greets you,no,really! She is the sweetest, funniest girl

Back to the card….

I wanted to give the image a feeling of being ripped from a notebook so I printed it onto this ledger style patterned paper. He’s been coloured with soft pastel pencils to allow the pattern to show through and on his dog tag I used a silver gel pen.A spot of white gel pen picks up the shine on his nose.I did apply 3D Crystal Lacquer on his eyes and nose but I’ve failed to pick it up with the camera 😦 Of course I had to choose some tree paper to go with him 😉 Our girl doesn’t have that kind of interest, naturally, but she does make us laugh when she tries to climb up them looking for squirrels 😀 LOL (you can just see one at the right hand  top of the paper along with a little wolf type character who looks remarkably like our dog sneaking up on him – it’s OK I’m sure she will never catch one – she’s so clumsy she’d trip up before she got near!) I ran a piece of woodgrain paper through an embossing folder to create more texture. All the papers have been Distress Inked around the edges. The bottom of each piece have been torn too.Everything has been mounted onto a card blank I made from some printed kraft card.As I have way too much craft stuff so I added loadsa metal items  😉 – see details below. Along with a little paper raffia and jute twine.I stamped the sentiment unevenly on purpose, honestly, then gave the paper the same treatment to tie in with the strip on the card.

Eye’m waiting for Halloween

jsldt5thoct

This month’s challenge at Just Some Lines is Halloween. To play along you need to use a Just Some Lines image to enter and you could win a fantastic digi stamp if you’re picked as part of the Top 3!

I had so much fun making this!!I chose to make a shaped card to go with the rather creepy Waiting – Skeleton by Just Some Lines. He’s been coloured with Copic Ciao Markers then fussy cut so that I could add him to this die cut tombstone card.I always like to cover the front of shaped cards with another die cut panel to hide the folded edge. This gave me the opportunity to have a good, messy play too!!I started by embossing the piece to give it some texture then sanded it to create a pitted, weather worn feel.I wanted to deboss the lettering as if were were really carved into the stone. Now this was a learning curve – but I did it 😀 I cut the letters from some scrap chipboard then stacked them 3 deep, gluing of course 😉 Next came the hardest part of figuring out how to make the perfect sandwich in my Big Shot and astounded myself by getting it right first time!To enhance the effect I ran a ProMarker inside and followed with a black pen where I thought the extra shadowing should be.Onto the lichen next…I wanted this to be pretty realistic but having only Polar White Flower Soft was a bit of a hurdle.Remembering I had some inks tucked away in a drawer I tipped a little Flower Soft into a small pot and dropped some Yellow plus a couple of drops of Butterscotch for a more natural appearance, smooshing it around with my finger to make sure it all got coated.Whilst this was drying I inked round the edges of my tombstone then cut, sanded and inked the ivy.The grass at the bottom is actually the leftover from the ivy trimmed down, sanded, inked etc… I adhered my little skele friend (or should that be fiend?) and using clear drying PVA added my lichen, trying to emulate how it would normally grow. There I’m done!!

And just in case you think it’s a little early to start thing about All Hallow’s Eve here’s a glimpse of what was in my garden the foggy other day just to get you in the mood….

Spooky,eh?When I think of all the money I’ve spent on decorations….lol….

It’s OK there aren’t any spiders visible in these pics….I left those ones out deliberately…. 🙂

For my card I’ve stamped out one of my much coveted and seldom used hAnglar & stAnglars.I just hope that if anything happens to me my DH has enough sense to put these on eBay and not throw them in the bin thinking they are just another piece of junk in my crafty collection. These are my children’s inheritance 😉 She’s been coloured with Copic Ciao Markers and very carefully cut out.I’ve teamed her with some pretty glittery papers and shimmery cardstock.A length of paper lace can just be seen popping out from behind the right hand edge of the vertical strip.Purely for decoration purposes and not because I forgot to punch the edge, you understand 😉 lol A number of die cut pieces have been added, including the layered up flower. From the centre of this a piece of chain from an old key ring dangles from a crystal brad.I attached a butterfly charm with a jump ring. The sentiment is part of a freebie set from a past issue of Cardmaking and Papercraft magazine.
