The challenge at Crafty Sentiments this week is Christmas Decorations.Drop on by to join in the fun and be in with the chance of winning a super prize.Don’t forget to take a look at some fabulous inspiration by the talented DT while you’re there.

Who wouldn’t want a Christmas kiss from the lovely Kissing Under The Mistletoe by Crafty Sentiments Designs? She’s been coloured with Copic Ciao Markers and the mistletoe berries given dimension with Liquid Pearls.Unfortunately the camera has failed to pick up on the 3D Crystal Lacquer on her boots – but it is there, honest 🙂 She’s been fussy cut to allow her to be added to the wreath.I made this by die cutting a kraft card ring, then arranging die cut foliage of holly leaves and two types of pine branches, letting the base cardstock to peek through. All topped off with a couple of sprigs of mistletoe – of course!I trimmed one stem to make it a little shorter than the other. That’s the beauty of this die as you can decide how you want to make it up as all the components are cut separately. The ribbon hanging loop has been stapled on for security then covered with the bow for a neater finish.A few recycled pearly buttons have been scattered around for extra decoration 🙂

Fairy-ly Blue (and Silver!)

jslgdtnov 001

**Please click on the pic for a clearer view. For some reason they always look a little blurry on the blog page  😦  **

I’m super excited to be sharing a card that I’ve made as a Guest Designer for the Just Some Lines Facebook Challenge. To enter the November Colour Scheme Challenge you need to use any combination of red, green, silver and blue. You may choose just one or two with other colours as long as the listed ones are the main. The other stipulation is that you must use a Just Some Lines image. But with so many beauties in the store it wouldn’t be difficult to choose! My card, along with other wonderful inspiration and extra details on how to enter, can be found on the Just Some Lines Blog too.

You can find the stunning Christmas Fairy at Just Some Lines.I decided to go with a blue/silver combo but as you can see there is a teeny amount of red and green on the image. Her dress has been paper pieced and the rest coloured with Copic Ciao Markers.Being a fairy her wings had to have the obligatory glitter 😀 I coloured them in cool greys first to keep in with the silver part of the theme then coated them in Glamour Dust. The dots on her hair and wings have been defined with a silver pearl pen and the berries on the garland the robin is nestling in with Liquid Pearls. Here’s a closer view :

jslgdtnov 001closeup

The papers and cardstock I’ve had for more years than I care to remember but were just perfect for this project. It’s a good job I’m such a crafty hoarder 😉 Maybe one day I will get through my entire stash – well,in my dreams perhaps! After stamping and punching the sentiment out I thought it was lacking something so I hit upon the idea of framing it with the punched out snowflakes from the border. Not only does this keep everything coordinated it also doesn’t cover up too much else.A length of silver cord with a snowflake charm tied to seemed to finish the whole thing off nicely 🙂

Tip : By paper piecing your image you can coordinate it to the rest of your project and it’s a good way of covering a large area if you are unsure about colouring it.

Hark!Christmas is coming…

The challenge at Crafty Sentiments this week is Add A Sentiment.Drop on by to join in the fun and be in with the chance of winning a super surprise prize.Don’t forget to take at some fabulous DT inspiration while you’re there.

So I thought I’d grab the chance to get another Christmas card made.I’m determined, this year, not to be finishing them and sending them on the last posting  date!!So this little beauty,Hark the Angel Sing by Crafty Sentiments ,has helped me a little way to achieving my goal 🙂 She’s been coloured with Copic Sketch and Ciao Markers then fussy cut so that she’s positioned in front of the die cut wreath, with added Liquid Pearls for effect.I thought this would tie in nicely with the holly coronet on her head. This was also the thinking behind the punched border. The papers are some remnant Hot Off the Press Papers  and the sentiment has been stamped directly onto the card base.Due to the many rises and changes in postal costs I try to come up with designs to minimise these charges but hopefully still present friends and family something worth displaying on their mantelshelf.

I’ve gone a little colour crazy with Cupcakes & Candy Factory Background by Inky Impressions using Copic Ciao Markers, adding Liquid Pearls for texture on the icing. There’s so much amazing detail I just had to!I picked out the colours in these fabulous freebie papers.A strip of cotton lace has been attached to the under side of the triangular piece,to replicate the frilliness of the doilies, and I dug out these nice, shiny buttons. They look a bit like sweeties too 🙂 I stamped and fussy cut the sentiment, leaving it plain so it stood out from the patterned paper.I chose the cardstock as not only was it the perfect shade of minty green it also has a pretty shimmer to it  🙂

Pearls in Blossom

cypdt19thmay 001

**Please click on the pic for a clearer view. For some reason they always look a little blurry on the blog page 😦  **

At Craft Your Passion this week the challenge is Pearls and Lace.We have the fabulous Aurora Wings as our sponsor too.Head on over to check how to play and win.Don’t forget to take a look at the DT inspiration, they’ve done a wonderful job.

Isn’t this just the most adorable little thing!!She’s Whimsical Cherry Blossom Sprite  by Aurora Wings and I coloured her with Graph’It Markers.Little spots of Liquid Pearls were added to the stamens. Some freebie paper was used in the background and behind that I tucked a couple of lacy punched borders.Lengths of crochet lace cover the joins 🙂 I bought the fab cherry embossing folder a while back but this is the first time it’s been used and I love it!A chipboard greeting banner and flower that came with the paper pack have been added along with some real pearls – well, flat backed ones at least 😉

My computer still won’t connect to the internet and I’ve really missed being able to download, print and create.Unfortunately when I got my wireless printer a while back I just plugged it into my PC as that was where the printing was to be done. Now,I can only access the internet thru’ my DH’s laptop and whilst I can download I can’t print from it.Being ‘clever’ thought I could make my printer wireless and connect it to the laptop. Not so 😦 Appears that can only be done with my computer thru’ the internet….Grrrr!Yeah,I know I could probs set up the printer with the cable to the laptop BUT it sits on my dining table when in use and has to cleared away at meal times. If I wanted it on the computer desk I would have to pack up my PC and put it away – don’t want to do that!!Sooooo…then an idea hits me (doesn’t happen too often but it’s a goody when it does)…I bought myself a reasonably priced USB Flash Drive/Memory Stick (cheapest from Argos)…whatever you want to call them 😉 Now I can just transfer what I like to my PC and print – genius! It’s so easy even a computer simpleton like myself can use it – yay! And the moral of the story is if anyone else finds themselves in a predicament like this then this may be the solution 🙂

Wishing you Joy(fold) this Christmas

cypdt 001

At Craft Your Passion this week the challenge is More Than One Fold.We have the fabulous Bugaboo Stamps,Eureka Stamps and Bunny Zoe’s Crafts as our sponsors too.Head on over to check how to play and win.Don’t forget to take a look at the DT inspiration, they’ve done a wonderful job.

I’ve decided to revamp an old favourite,a twist on a Joy Fold Card,to go with this beautiful Wreath with Bird by Eureka Stamps. As soon as I saw it I knew I didn’t want to just colour it.I wanted to add some dimension too.Once coloured with Copic Ciao and Sketch Markers I then cut and coloured a layer consisting of the bow loops including the little bird, which I chose to turn into a Robin.Next I added the knot as in the original image it appears that the bird is nestled in just behind. The berries are Liquid Pearls. To create the card base I cut away roughly half of the front using a Grand Nestabilities Die and made a smaller card with a matching Nestabilities Die.Normally I would’ve plonked (technical term!) the smaller folded piece in the middle but I had the idea of securing the flap into place a button so being butted up to the far right edge seemed the better option.

Here is a pic to show how it works opened up :

cypdt 002

All edges of card and paper have been Distress inked and the sentiment stamped.Sadly the lovely lady who made it is no longer trading 😦 To complete the look some ribbon,a button, jute twine and a couple of sprigs cut from my new Cheery Lynn Die.Have to admit this is the first one I’ve bought (yeah,I know) but will definitely be tempted to buy some more 🙂

Ava Flowery Summer

cypdt19thaug

At Craft Your Passion this week the challenge is Summer Flowers. We have the fabulous Digital Paper Craft as our sponsor too.Head on over to check how to play and win.Don’t forget to take a look at the DT inspiration, they’ve done a wonderful job.

For my card I’ve used the sweet, sweet Ava Girl by Digital Paper Craft and coloured her with a mix of ProMarkers and FlexMarkers. The FlexMarkers were used alone on her skin, hair and shoes.I introduced a couple of ProMarker colours on her dress to get the shading and hues I wanted. The papers were a freebie with Quick Cards Made Easy.It also came with a CD-rom full of coordinating elements.I resized and punched out the sentiment then coated it in 3D Crystal Lacquer.Once this was dry I mounted it onto a tag, threaded with paper twine, from the same CD-rom.This was then bordered with some punched flowers shaped with a ball tool.I like to make leaves to match with the same punch by trimming them down and adding the vein detail with a very fine ball tool.As the image is quite large with a lot of white space I decided to punch the floral border in white to keep in with this and to give an extra lift to the whole card.I dotted some Liquid Pearls into the center of the flowers on the border and the red ones too. Some flat backed pearls were used to embellish the cut out corners.I did also apply some gloss to her shoes too but it doesn’t really show in the main pic so here’s a closer view 🙂

At Just Some Lines the challenge is Anything Goes this fortnight.Only projects made with Just Some Lines images can be entered. But the good news is there will be a freebie image posted on the blog for the duration of the challenge for you to use!Just pop on over to Just Some Lines to find out all the details. While you’re  there don’t forget to get inspired by the DT’s creations.

This will be the last challenge until 7th September as the Design Team are taking a Summer break.

So for my card I was wondering whether or not to follow my recent trend of merging Just Some Lines digi stamps and well,as you can see I couldn’t resist!I’ve  taken the Cherry Branch Springtime from Emo Amber Springtime Value Set and hung Bird house -tulips from it.They’ve been coloured with Copic Ciao And Sketch Markers with Liquid Pearls added to the dots.As I wanted the image to remain the focal point I’ve kept the rest of the card quite simple with distressed edges and pearls to match in with the Liquid Pearls.Paper twine has been wrapped around the bottom panel and more has been used to hand stitch the sentiment tab onto the image piece.Ruby Red Liquid Pearls have been used to coat the heart on the sentiment which was a freebie from a past issue of Cardmaking and Papercraft magazine.

Supplies :

cypdt18thmarch 001

This week at Craft Your Passion the challenge is Ribbons or Lace.We have the fabulous The Sugar Kissed Cottage as our sponsor too.Head on over to check how to play and win.Don’t forget to take a look at the DT inspiration, they’ve done a wonderful job.

For my card I’ve used the totally delicious Ice Cream Girl by The Sugar Kissed Cottage and coloured her with Copic Ciao Markers. To give her a more realistic textured ice cream I used some Liquid Pearls.I chose some vintage looking papers to go with this cutie. After fussy cutting her I mounted her on some foam tape onto some die cut layers.I cut some slits in the kraft piece to thread the lace through to allow her something to sit on.I tied a bow topped with a punched flower and threaded button  and added them to the lace strip.Another threaded button has been adhered to the stamped sentiment.
