Starburst and stripes

csdt5thjuly

The challenge at Crafty Sentiments this week is Flowers.Drop on by to join in the fun and be in with the chance of winning a super prize.Don’t forget to take a look at some fabulous inspiration by the talented DT while you’re there.

It’s New Release time at Crafty Sentiments Designs and here’s the fabulous Patsy & Gizmo Flag. What a patriotic pair! They’ve been coloured with Copic Ciao Markers with some white gel pen highlights thrown in.I’ve given them a bit of a grungey/vintage background to tie in with the kraft base. After die cutting them I trimmed everything down to fit into the corner and even allowed Patsy’s hair to flow over the edge.I’ve wanted to try this Starburst Background technique for a while but have only been brave enough to do so now!Don’t why I thought it would be difficult…and I actually enjoyed seeing it come together. The plan was to just select a few papers, repeating the patterns but some of the pieces didn’t work as some of the designs are directional. So I just swapped a few for some that did! After the glue had dried I cut it out with a stitch edged die and matted it onto another die cut layer.Once the stamped sentiment had been cut I coloured it with Copics to match the image.A few layered die cut flowers with flat back pearl centres decorate the bottom left corner to finish.

Well red(head)!

cypdt6thjune

At Craft Your Passion the challenges are Always Anything Goes!We have the fabulous The East Wind as our sponsor too.Head on over to check how to play and win.Don’t forget to take a look at the DT inspiration, they’ve done a wonderful job.

I thought I’d have a little fun using Anne with E by The East Wind. After colouring her with watercolour pencils I decided to make an inky, splodgy  background so I pulled out some Pebeo Drawing Gum that I bought a little while back for this purpose. In the past I’ve found to my cost that paper masking just does not work well with this technique and this did the job beautifully, especially as the inks had been watered down to allow them to splat better!Once the inks were dry I then over stamped with a script stamp. Then I removed the gum, which came away very easily. The only mistake I think I made was colouring the image first as it seemed a little faded but was soon rectified by adding more pencil where needed.I also added some white gel pen highlights at this stage.I just had to try out my newly purchased dies to add an aperture to the paper to frame her and to create the border at the bottom 🙂 I stamped the flowers,a past magazine freebie, onto some textured card before fussy cutting them.I made the little book to add to the front.I was going to fill the pages with more of the script stamp but actually thought I would instead write words of encouragement to the recipient when this type of card is needed.I finished off by adding two jute twine threaded buttons to the flower centres that were visible.

I have had the honour of making a couple of samples for Suzette from Crafty Sentiments Designs for the Hochanda shows at 11 am and 3 pm on the 5th June.

It would be lovely if you could tune in and share the talented DT’s hard work.Plus Suzette’s fantastic demos of course 🙂

You may even spot my cards there!

Now on to my second card…

Splashing has been coloured with Copic Ciao and Sketch Markers this time. Some more white gel pen to add a little shine to the pup’s nose along with some glittery ripples in the puddle. This time I’ve made a Shaped Tent Fold card by only die cutting up to the fold then embossing the rest using a stitch effect die.

I think by using different mediums and colours it shows the versatility of this darling, fun stamp 🙂

Well, here is my second card as Guest Designer for Imagine That!Digis by Kris! at their Creative Playground Challenge. The theme this month is Spring and it runs from April 2nd – May 6th.Stop on by the blog to check out all the wonderful inspiration there!

I thought I’d go creative with the colours on this cutie from the Ladybugs set by Imagine That!Digis by Kris and make him really swing too!I made an aperture tent card and once I’d coloured the image with Copic Ciao Markers along with some white gel pen highlights I fussy cut it.There are also touches of  3D Crystal Lacquer on his eyes, nose and the ends of his antennae. The branch is cut freehand then the image is attached using jump rings to allow him to swing freely. The sentiment is from the same set and the colourful papers are Blossoms & Bugs Digi Papers which compliment the Ladybugs perfectly.A scattering of die cut flowers with micro bead centres and a couple of bows to finish everything off 🙂

A Pizza the action ;)

At Craft Your Passion the challenges are Always Anything Goes!We have the fabulous Digital Delights by Louby Loo as our sponsor too.Head on over to check how to play and win.Don’t forget to take a look at the DT inspiration, they’ve done a wonderful job.

Meet Pizza Chef Mickey  by Digital Delights by Louby Loo.He’s been coloured using Copic Ciao Markers and a few touches of white gel pen.Thought what better way to display than on a pizza – well, more part of a pizza!I die cut a white card blank then covered it with kraft, with a little inking around the edge for a baked, crusty feel.Next a red card tomato sauce layer followed by a cheesy yellow cardstock. Finally a topping of pepperoni and green pepper die cuts to match those on Mickey’s pizza 😀 Whipped up a sentiment using Microsoft Word and that’s that!Didn’t feel it needed extra embellishment. This will be for my DS2’s Birthday in September (gotta get ’em done early you know!) as it’s no secret in our household that it’s his favourite pizza…not sure what he’ll make of the green peppers tho’ as he’s definitely no fan of them!

A spot of thinking

csdt12thapril

The challenge at Crafty Sentiments this week is Anything Goes.Drop on by to join in the fun and be in with the chance of winning a super prize.Don’t forget to take a look at some fabulous inspiration by the talented DT while you’re there.

Isn’t Just Thinking by Crafty Sentiments Designs adorable?I’ve coloured her up with Copic Ciao and Sketch Markers along with white gel pen highlights then fussy cut her.I die cut a full stitched rectangle then attached it to a card base the same size. Two pieces of patterned paper were cut with the next size down die before the tops were torn.I added some die cut grass at the bottom to ground her. This is in two strips overlapped as one piece wasn’t quite long enough.Sillicone glue gives it dimension.I popped a little bird in the there too, inked a little to define him.I die cut another stitched rectangle and wrote the sentiment on in white gel pen. Please excuse my terrible handwriting :S I had intended to add a printed version from a CD-rom that has elements to match the papers but when sized it to fit on the card the wording wasn’t that clear. But I do like the white pen on this paler type of kraft card. For the final touch I added a scattering of sequins 🙂

Happy to celebrate!

csdt29thmar

The challenge at Crafty Sentiments this week is Anything Goes.Drop on by to join in the fun and be in with the chance of winning a super prize.Don’t forget to take a look at some fabulous inspiration by the talented DT while you’re there.

Stanley – Happy Days by Crafty Sentiments Designs certainly looks like he has plenty to celebrate! He’s a new release digi stamp too!!A double celebration then 😀 I’ve coloured him up with a number of mediums.Stanley, the bottle and cork have been coloured with Copic Ciao and Sketch Markers.Metallic ProMarkers in Gold and Silver give the label a foiled look.Stardust Pen give the hearts a glittery touch and some extra fizz has been given to the Champagne bubbles with a Graph’It Shake Marker.A few white gel pen highlights  and 3D Crystal Lacquer add shine to the bottle and Stanley’s nose. There…I think that’s it 😉 For the rest of the card I’ve used some patterned paper and wooden wording from paper of a Stampin’ Up prize I won in a draw at Cardmaking and Papercraft magazine’s website.Such a lovely surprise to have that drop through my door! The wooden star buttons and twine I already had in my stash.
