People is the theme set for this week at Digi Doodle Shop Challenges. Please take a look at the challenge blog for details on how to play along and be in the chance to win a $10 Gift Certificate to spend at Digi Doodle Shop.Don’t forget to check out the wonderful DT work while you’re there.
I tried something different, well for me anyway!I’ve coloured this adorable Little Sweeper from Digi Doodle Shop in sepia tones.I have to be honest and I chucked my first attempt in the bin!Oh the shame 😦 I pride myself on NOT throwing stuff away! I tried to colour her skin in just the lighter tones I’d used for her clothing but she ended up looking grey faced so I chose pinkier beige tones and I’m a lot happier with the result 😀 I used a mix of pretty floral paper with a newspaper print one.Altho’ it’s a little difficult to see the bottom strip as I suddenly decided to lay some raffia lace ribbon over it.I layered some die cut flowers and chopped ’em up so they’d add interest to the top of the card.I finished it with some Distress Inked vintage seam binding and another flower topped with a wooden button one, tied with some paper twine.
Sadly this is my last post for Digi Doodle Shop Challenges. Not an easy decision but sometimes you have to make those kind of choices 😦 I started with the team back in October 2010 and I’d like to say thanks to Karen and Ruth for being great DT Leaders,to all the lovely crafters I’ve met through the team and of course Judy and her Mom for creating and providing the gorgeous images. Wishing you all the best for the future 🙂
Don’t forget the DT call is open until 8:00 pm EST tonight! So get in there quick if you’re interested!

Don’t forget the current 99¢ Digi Deal stamps are only available until March 1st and then they will be gone forever! If see something you like grab it while you still have the chance!
I’ve used Daisy Girl from Digi Doodle Shop for my card and water coloured her with Distress Inks.I decide to make a kick stand card. Here’s how it works :

I used a Tonic Edgers 5 Punch I picked up for £2.99!I lined it up my Border Punch System to create the continuous pattern. The image is cut out with a Nestie. The papers are some more scrummy Ooh La La for Him by Mind’s Eye – LOVE ’em!I even used one of the labels from the die-cut sheet to stamp the sentiment on to :

The flower on the front was made using the instructions from this Paper Flower Tutorial on Whimsical World of Laura Bird’s blog.I did use a 1″ circle punch for the purpose of this card.It was a little fiddly and it probably didn’t help that this a thin cardstock rather than a paper but as long as you get your folds as accurate and sharp as you can then you shouldn’t have too many problems.Much the same for all paper folding really.I added a gem brad to the centre. This was another bargain. The pack was only £1.99!
Supplies :
Image : Daisy Girl from Digi Doodle Shop
Colouring medium : Distress Inks
Sentiment : From a 3 Birds box of clear stamps stamped in Coffee Archival Ink
Papers & card : DP Ooh La La for Him Paper Kit by My Mind’s Eye,Core’dinations Roy G.Biv cardstock pad

Time to get romantic ‘cos Love is in the Air at Digi Doodle Shop Challenges this week. Please take a look at the challenge blog for details on how to play along and be in the chance to win a $10 Gift Certificate to spend at Digi Doodle Shop.Don’t forget to check out the wonderful DT work while you’re there.
There is also a special sale going on at the store this month :

Don’t forget the current 99¢ Digi Deal stamps are only available until March 1st and then they will be gone forever! If see something you like grab it while you still have the chance!
On to my card.I’ve used Charming from the Valentines category at Digi Doodle Shop (it’s included in the sale too!) and coloured it with FlexMarkers.Maybe the colour scheme is a little unconventional for a Valentine card but as this is for my DH and I don’t think girly pinky reds smothered in love hearts are really his style it also suits this slithery pair.Plus it also gave me another chance to play with this fabby paper I picked up in a sale!I pricked the papers using the We R Memory Keepers Sew Easy Tool with a couple of different heads and added some faux stitching. The charm, which started out as a plain ol’ antique brass one ’til I added some colours with matching FlexMarkers, has been sewn on for real but loosely to still allow some movement.I wasn’t sure about colouring the charm at first but once I’d committed to it I quite liked it 🙂 Have to say I found FlexMarkers lend themselves better to this technique than my ProMarkers.Must be the brush tips that leave a streak free finish.Having decided I wanted to use a heart matting piece I quickly realised I don’t own any heart shaped dies. Not to be thwarted by such a detail I made my own templates with a Flower Soft tub and a pot of my daughter’s Clearasil pads along with a ruler for the straight part.I think they turned out pretty well and actually don’t nest too badly. To cover up any discrepancies that did occur may have occurred in my cutting out I distressed all the edges.I recycled a piece of corrugated card that packaged my beautiful Rennie Mackintosh calendar that my DH bought me as part of my Christmas present. After peeling off the top layer I roughed it up with a sanding block as well as distressing the edges. The sentiment is my own creation and I admit it!
Supplies :
Image : Charming from Digi Doodle Shop
Mediums : FlexMarkers, fine tip of a Whispers Brush marker for the faux stitching
Sentiment : Computer generated by me!
Papers & Card : My Mind’s Eye Ooh La La for Him,Core’dinations Roy G Biv pad, recycled corrugated card

For my card I’ve used Birds Nest from Digi Doodle Shop.Although I’ve used it for a New Home card it could be applied to many different occasions. It’s been coloured with pastel pencils for a soft look and I allowed it to flow over the edge of the die cut.I chose papers that had a wallpaper feel to them and added a key charm to tie in with the theme too.The felt flowers topped with buttons also reflect the softness of the image and give a home furnishings touch.

Well,it’s everyone’s favourite challenge at Digi Doodle Shop Challenges!Yep,it’s Anything Goes!.Please take a look at the challenge blog for details on how to play along and be in the chance to win a $10 Gift Certificate to spend at Digi Doodle Shop.Don’t forget to check out the wonderful DT work while you’re there.
I’ve used the rather whimsical Tea Pot Birdie from Digi Doodle Shop.I’ve coloured with Polychromos Pencils.Normally I would just shade a little colour then blend it out with low odour oils thinners and a paper stump but thought I would try something different – well for me anyway!I took a few pencils in different shades of the same colour, laying down colour from dark to light, using the last to blend out. This was definitely a learning curve and I did a few issues with the amount of pressure I put on the pencils but by the end I certainly felt a bit more in control.I did use a dry paper stump to diffuse any hard edges of the grey I shaded the teapot with.Although I feel I could do better next time I am quite pleased at how pretty this card turned out 🙂
As this is the last Digi Doodle Shop Challenge of the year and my final post until after Christmas I’d like to wish my Teamies,Judy our fabulous boss and everyone who stops by my blog a very Merry one!

This week at Digi Doodle Shop Challenges we’d love to see some Paper Piercing.Yes,that’s right we’re asking you to make holes in your best and most beautiful work -lol.Please take a look at the challenge blog for details on how to play along and be in the chance to win a $10 Gift Certificate to spend at Digi Doodle Shop.Don’t forget to check out the wonderful DT work while you’re there.

For my card I’ve used the elegant 1930’s Fashion image from Digi Doodle Shop.Yeah I know the title of my post refers to the age rather than the era but when your eyelids are droopin’ and your head’s crashing onto the keyboard and it’s the only thing you can think of you kinda have to go with it!!Anyway,I’ve coloured her with ProMarkers and emulated the style of the fashion posters of that time ( or as close as I can get it!).I found it a challenge to let the shading be liney- is that a word?My style is usually a lot more scribbly and any harsh lines are blended out.I used a Marianne Design Twirly Stencil 2 that I bought back in the Summer ,along with a lovely pricking tool, and never got round to using. The cream piece of card behind her was already debossed with the pattern so I just pierced it.I just had to add a big bow with this gorgeous organza ribbon to complete the look.
Supplies :

Colouring mediums : ProMarkers, Desert Sand Memento Dew Drop Ink Pad,Antique Linen Distress Ink
Paper & Card : DP K & Co,Kars Christmas Collection Card (yes,that’s right!)

For my card I’ve used Hummingbird from Digi Doodle Shop.I wanted to give the bird some real life iridescence. So I dug out my Twinkling H2o’s from the depth of my crafty stash and dusted them down.I think I’m a little out of practice tho’.I prefer my colouring using AquaMarkers on the flowers, beak and illusion of sky in the background. I stamped the greeting underneath the image and cut out using Nesties.I chose the words because as far as I can remember I’ve always been in awe of these beautiful creatures and love to see one in it’s own natural habitat.I’d already decided to team this paper with the image from the start but the whole card ended up a lot more ‘blingier’ than I’d planned. But I think it suits the shininess of the bird.

As it’s the 1st of the month (December already?!) there is a new sale statring from today. There are some new digi stamps instore too!

A big thank you to those who helped with your generous donations to Pet Pardons.A total of $78.00 will be winging it’s way to aid these poor animals.
Now onto my card.I’ve used Christmas Globe by Digi Doodle Shop and coloured it with ProMarkers.I masked the rest of the image and applied a coating of Crafter’s Companion Spray & Sparkle after placing the image in my sophisticated ‘spray booth’…well…OK… it’s a tatty old shoe box lined with kitchen towel but it does the job. This gives the impression it has just been shaken without going to the trouble of making a shaker card.I also added a touch of glitter to the poinsettia. The glitter card I’ve used sheds by the bucket load so I applied some Crafter’s Companion Spray & Shine to seal it all in.Now it can’t get away from me!I used a Punch Around the Page set on the mat the globe is set on.The panel on the front of the image is blank so I stamped a greeting on there. The big jewel on the bow is actually a push pin.I messed up when I bought 2 packs of these thinking they were brads.I just trimmed down the back with wire cutters and set it in place with silicon glue.I die cut some snowflakes and topped the middles with gems.Hope this is sparkly enough for you!
