I can’t take all the credit for this card.I had a lot of help from my DS2 especially with the colouring. After showing him how to blend Polychromos pencils on the top of Emo Cowboy by Just Some Lines’  hat he did it by himself, well with just a little interference guidance from me 🙂 He picked it it up so quickly and was pleased with the results. For the rest of the card we picked out these cowboy themed papers and some corrugated card. The horseshoe was cut from one of the papers and some brads were added to it.We also decorated the rest of the card with a few more. The sentiment came from a set that was a magazine freebie, trimmed into a banner shape.

At Craft Your Passion this week the challenge is Frame It!We have the fabulous Delicious Doodles as our sponsor too.Head on over to check how to play and win.Don’t forget to take a look at the DT inspiration, they’ve done a wonderful job.

Meet the sweet Sunshine Gal by Delicious Doodles. She’s been coloured with Copic Ciao & Sketch Markers.A little white Souffle pen has been added to the ice cream.I did coat the lenses of her sunglasses with 3D Crystal Lacquer but it hasn’t done the courtesy to show up 😦 To compliment her bright colours I dug out these tropical papers from my stash along with some self-adhesive cork.As you can probably see I’ve done a fair amount of tearing here 😉 Including the rolled roses. After punching two sizes of circles I then tore round the spirals and for the leaves are just freehand tearing.Edges have been distressed to keep in with the look.A couple of pearl topped pins and some paper twine complete the card 🙂

An Englishman’s home is his Mushroom Castle!

cypdt30thdec

At Craft Your Passion this week the challenge is Something New.We have the fabulous The Paper Shelter  as our sponsor too.Head on over to check how to play and win.Don’t forget to take a look at the DT inspiration, they’ve done a wonderful job.

I’ve decide to go with a New Home theme using Mushroom Castle by The Paper Shelter,as I’m being very good about my stash diet 😀 I’ve printed the coloured version of the image (you get 1 outline and coloured digi stamp included) directly onto  a kraft card blank using a verse editor CD-rom.The sky and clouds behind have been coloured by me with Polychromos pencils, blending the sky using low odour oils thinners and a blending stump for a softer look.A sentiment has simply been added by die cutting self adhesive canvas applied to a length of baker’s twine, looped around some brads and adhered into place.A couple of jump rings allow the key charm to dangle from the middle brad to finish.Quite a simple card as I’m hoping the postage won’t be too expensive to send this to one of my old neighbours who is waiting for her new house to be finished 🙂

Supplies :

Image : Mushroom Castle by The Paper Shelter
Sentiment : Hand stamped with an alphabet from Crafter’s Companion 3 Birds Boxed Stamp Set
Mediums : Faber Castell Polychromos Pencils,Low Odour Oils Thinners,Jet Black Archival Ink

Don’t Lose Your Head!

cypdt25thnov

At Craft Your Passion this week the challenge is Thanksgiving/Give Thanks! We have the fabulous The Sugar Kissed Cottage as our sponsor too.Head on over to check how to play and win.Don’t forget to take a look at the DT inspiration, they’ve done a wonderful job.

I decided to watercolour this quaint Boy Feeding Turkey  by The Sugar Kissed Cottage in just brown tones to give a more vintage feel. But for some reason when it came to painting the turkey some of the printer ink bled a little and seeped a couple of different colours into the mix.Ah well,I don’t mind.I think it adds quite a nice effect to the bird 🙂 Once dry I applied Distress Ink around the edges to add a little more olde worlde charm.I carried this through to the delightful backing papers.I wrapped a length of some cotton twill tape that originally bound together a pack of tea towels around the panel then overlayed with some baker’s twine.I die cut a pair of buttons and a couple of swirls (trimmed down) out of cork sheet.I think this creates an interesting texture along with extra whimsy.I’m not sure about the boy’s true intentions of feeding the turkey 😉 But they do look as if they have a good bond.Maybe he’s saved him from a fate worse than the dinner table! And so out of this and my odd sense of humour the sentiment was borne!!

For my card I’ve use the gorgeous Elly Framed by Dilly Beans and coloured her with Copic Ciao Markers.I managed to scrape together the last of my usable pink papers and card to layer a background for her.Phew!I’ve  added some pretty Shimmer Dome Stickers – love their sparkle 🙂 Along with some recycled ribbon and a leftover piece of Raffia Lace. The rolled roses were made from spiral cutting a 1″ punched circle and I’ve placed a couple of die cut leaves in pink,of course 😉 The sentiment has been stamped onto a tab I’ve created from a trimmed down die cut.So one very pink creation!

Falling for Autumn

cypdt16thseptBarry16thsept 001

At Craft Your Passion this week the challenge is Autumn/Fall Colours. We have the fabulous Stamp Fairy as our sponsors too.Head on over to check how to play and win.Don’t forget to take a look at the DT inspiration, they’ve done a wonderful job.

I couldn’t resist making 2 cards with the adorable  Molly Throughout the Year September and Barry Throughout the Year 9 by Stamp Fairy .They’ve both been coloured with Copic Ciao and Sketch Markers. The papers on the Molly one are actually supposed to be Summer ones but they say Autumn more to me – especially when teamed with the orange and brown card stock 😉 The embellishment is made up of a wooden flower coloured with Copics,a gem added to the centre, then a few of the leftovers from the border die tucked under the edges. So on to Barry 🙂 I coloured him in a dotty fashion to create a little fuzziness and decided to display him on a shaped easel card (not made one in a while).I’ve inked around the edges to give more depth to the whole card. Some texture has been added with some paper raffia and die cut cork leaves.I’m always on the lookout for interesting stuff to bring dimension to my cards – and then never use it!!So I took the opportunity this time.I’ve used a button as the stopper and the sentiment is a freebie from Netty’s Cards.I love making cards in Autumn colours and luckily I get the chance as 3 of my 4 children have Autumn Birthdays! The top card is for my DD2 and the bottom one is for my DS2 🙂

For  my card I’ve used the totally sweet Cherry Fairy by A Day For Daisies and coloured her with Copic Ciao and Sketch Markers, adding some gloss to the cherries. The pretty papers were a freebie from Papercraft Inspirations magazine. After adhering  them to the kraft base I hand stitched  along the seams and wrapped some lace around both the  top and bottom edges. The sentiment was stamped onto some self adhesive fabric paper.I love the translucency it gives allowing a glimpse of the papers beneath.I layered up a paper flower,a jute twine threaded chipboard button and a couple of pearl topped pins to create the embellishment in the corner.

The reading corner

At Craft Your Passion this week the challenge is Well Read.We have the fabulous Melonheadz Illustrating as our sponsors too.Head on over to check how to play and win.Don’t forget to take a look at the DT inspiration, they’ve done a wonderful job.

I’ve made a corner bookmark as I haven’t made one of these in ages.Plus my DS2 has decided to plough his way through his older sister’s Diary of a Wimpy Kid books.I found this cute image at Cre8tive Hands and he’s called Boy Reading.I’ve coloured him with Copic Ciaos before fussy cutting him and adding him to the bookmark.A tutorial for this can be found at Splitcoast Stampers. The only difference I have made is to punch the border at the bottom before cutting it down to make the 4″ square.I’ve added some Bazzill Basics card. The top piece has been embossed with a script folder, the bottom one has had a border punched before adhering a strip of alphabet paper. Some jute twine has been threaded thru’ a wooden button then wrapped around.A leftover piece of the alphabet paper has been used to cover up where the string goes around the back to give a neater finish.

Happy Brrrrr-thday!

jsldt13thapril 001

Just a reminder that the For a Child challenge at Just Some Lines  is still open. You could be in the running for a super prize. You need play along with a Just Some Lines image to enter and one random winner will get 4 digi stamps of their choice. It doesn’t stop there tho’ as the Top 3 will get one digi stamp each too! There is a freebie to get you started too or you can choose one from Just Some Lines here.

For my card I’ve used the totally cool Birthday Penguin by Just Some Lines and coloured him with Copic Ciao Markers. Now for this card I didn’t follow my usual creative process…in fact I had no idea where I was going with it.Sure I’d picked the image, papers and red card but normally I have some idea of a layout in my head. Not this time.Even the kraft base and layers were on a whim.Next I sifted through my large die collection to gain some inspiration.Plus this gave me the chance to use some of my newest and untouched dies 🙂 The arch shape would fit this little chap perfectly and I fancied making some bunting with these little flag shapes.I strung it up with some baker’s twine suspended on some brads to allow it some free movement. The lettering was made with an old die set that I haven’t used for years – literally!!The word ‘birthday’ is part of the sentiment that’s included with the image.I hand cut the fishtail piece running along the bottom of the card and added more brads. So for a card that I had no clue what  it was going to end up as  I’m pretty pleased how it turned out 🙂

A roaring success!

jsldt6thapril

At Just Some Lines the challenge is For a Child this fortnight.Only projects made with Just Some Lines images can be entered. But the good news is there will be a freebie image posted on the blog for the duration of the challenge for you to use!Just pop on over to Just Some Lines to find out all the details. While you’re  there don’t forget to get inspired by the DT’s creations.

For my card I’ve used the irrepressible Lion – Hear me ROAR! by Just Some Lines.Isn’t he magnificent! He’s been coloured with Copic Ciao Markers as has the wording, which comes with the image. The lion has been mounted on some oval Nesties and the ‘Hear me’ acts as a catch on this Triangular Tri-Fold Card. Here’s a view of the inside so you can see the rest of the sentiment :
