I’ve a-choired some owls

It’s Thursday so it’s Willow Sketchie Challenge day! This week we have a fabby sketch by Shell :

A £10 Gift Voucher to spend at Willow Designs is up for grabs for one lucky winner too.So head on over to see how to join the fun!

I’ve used Walter and the Choir decoupage and papers from the Walter and Winnie does Christmas CD-rom by Willow Designs.I shaped the layers with my fingers and built it up with Pinflair Glue Gel.Unfortunately it looks a little flat in the pic.I didn’t think to take another from a different angle and as this was one that I sent in to Sharon as a sample for her show on Create and Craft it’s no longer in my possession.Never mind.I’ve rotated the sketch and stretched it to fit a rectangular card base. The green card is Papermania Christmas cardstock. The sentiment is a strip cut from another backing paper.I’ve replaced the triangle with a punched holly leaf and the corners have been shaped with a Siesta Lip Pattern Corner Punch. Red flat back pearls have been used as holly berries and white ones to complete the layout.

Some challenges this is for :

Christmas Card Challenge : 2 Design Papers, Ribbon,Bird (recipe is optional)As you can see I didn’t quite make the recipe.

Purple and Green is the theme at Digi Doodle Challenges this week. Please take a look at the challenge blog for details on how to play along and be in the chance to win a $10 Gift Certificate to spend at Digi Doodle Shop.Don’t forget to check out the beautiful DT work while you’re there.

Don’t forget to check my sidebar for this months specials over at the store.

For my card I’ve used Violets from Digi Doodle Shop. They’ve been coloured with Polychromos Pencils and blended out with Low Odour Oils Thinners using a paper stump.I then went back in to the centres of the flowers and added more detail and deeper shading to the middles of the leaves.I simply cut some Nestabilities and Grand Nestabilities Standard Circles and Classic Scalloped Circles from Papermania Capsule Collection card and a piece of design paper I got in a bargain box at my local craft warehouse. The base has been inked around the edges with Grape Jelly Memento Dew Drop Ink.Some pearls and a length of beautiful organza ribbon complete the card.I did my usual trick of slicing a tiny strip off the back of the card to allow it it be completely free-standing without spoiling the shape.

In the pink for Christmas

Time for another Willow Sketchie Challenge!Lis-M has provided a fabulous sketch to work with this week. Here it is :

I’ve used Winnie Christmas Shopping from the Winnie and Walter does Christmas CD-rom from Willow Designs. The square is a pre-coloured and faux layered card panel so a nice, quick way to get those cards finished in time for Christmas. All the matching papers are from the CD-rom too,so no scrabbling round searching for those elusive coordinating papers either. The textured card is Papermania Colossal Capsule Collection.I’ve used Tonic Studio Edger Punch 1 with an X-Cut Border Punch System that has been gathering dust for years.Definitely gonna pull this out to play more.A piece of card cut from a Nestabilities Labels 4 has been cut in half and placed either side of the image.I found this fibre in my stash and added it as I felt it went well with the scarf. Some Diamond Stickles have been applied to the jewels on her crown and Frosted Lace Stickles has been used to glitz up her bags.

This is what you could win :

What an amazing prize!I’m sure you agree,so head on over and see how to play.

I chose the adorable Pony Love from Karen’s Doodles for my card and coloured with ProMarkers. The card base and layers were cut using Scalloped Square Grand Nestabilities and Nestabilities. The card is Papermania Capsule Collection and the paper is K & Co.I almost made a flower to embellish then had a flash of inspiration and decided to go with a rosette instead cut from Classic Scalloped Circle Nestabilities. The word is a Three Birds stamp from a box I bought a while back inked with a Rose Bud Memento Dew Drop ink pad.I added two tones of pink grossgrain ribbon from my stash.
