Here’s the fabulous Jasmin – Let’s Swing by Crafty Sentiments Designs all coloured up with Copic Ciao Markers.I’ve given her an Upright Diamond Fold Card to sit on.Base made from Desert Storm card and some pretty My Mind’s Eye papers with the edges all distressed.A length of ribbon,similar in colour to the card base,stretched across the back panel and a tag with a sentiment tied on using jute twine along with some wooden buttons for a rustic feel.I probably should’ve taken more pics but my daylight lamp has given up on me.It has an adjustable head and I think the wire has broken inside.Much too dangerous to use 😦 Still I have had it a few years and it’s served me well…AND I now get to do a bit more craft shopping 😛

Whatever Floats Your Goat!

I took delivery of a very special item last week.My DH paid partly for it as a gift as it was my birthday earlier this month.I just had to take the opportunity to play with it using the fabulous Float Yer Goat by Doodle Pantry.As you get papers in the set,along with images and sentiments,it seemed ideal for this type of project!Brilliant value for money too 🙂

This is what I got 😀

 

 

It’s a Big Shot Plus!And as it was only £15 more I grabbed one with the Starter Kit.Only because,for me,the dies and A4 embossing folder look so useful.(Yes,it still has the protective plastic on the top handle.I’m leaving it on for as long as poss!)

I started by printing the patterned paper from the set onto A4 cardstock then cut out the box using the die.Easiest box I ever made 🙂 Cut some the tag die from kraft card,cut the sentiment using it too but trimmed it to fit inside the tag by hand.Also die cut the scribble flower and scalloped edge to decorate.I did use a different tag die for the pre-coloured version of the goat,using the same method as before.A button,twine and dew drops – voilà!Mission complete 🙂 Am going to fill this with some sweet treats for my DH as part of his Father’s Day pressie.It’s good to get ahead 😀

It’s time for the March New Releases at Crafty Sentiments Designs!

So here’s what I came up with as soon as I saw Isobel – Let’s Paint…

Well,as she was getting all painty I thought I’d join in the messy fun too!I started by stamping her onto watercolour paper cut with a notebook page style die then masked her off with the same image on copier paper.As I wanted a nice splatty effect I opted for a selection of,slightly watered down,Posh Impressions Rainbow Inks that I’ve had in my possession for quite some time.Just used the squeeze and drop from a height method…very technical,you know 😉 The only problem was as the ink was quite sloppy and the copier paper absorbent the Magenta soaked through on her shoe and paint palette 😦 No fear…stamped out again on another piece of watercolour paper,coloured her with watercolour pencils and the Posh Inks to match my splots then fussy cut her.No need to worry about those stray tendrils of her hair,they’re already in place from the first stamping 🙂 Can’t really see it from the pic but it has given her some lovely dimension due to the thickness of the paper 🙂 The sentiment has been created on my computer (well,Hubby’s laptop since my PC is still dead 😦 Cue violins) on the same paper and treated as in the main image.For the background I sprayed the Posh Impressions Inks from some Crafts Too Misters (this is what I’d mixed the ink and water in in the first place).These work great!And a lot cheaper than some other brands.I squirted quite liberally and allowed the colours to merge and run.Finished off with some kraft card,a staple,jute twine,paperclip and brads for an arty/stationery type feel.

Here’s the dynamic Tobey – Roller Skates by Crafty Sentiments Designs.He’s been coloured with Copic Ciao Markers with a few white gel pen highlights.I’m so glad I found these papers 🙂 They’re just perfect for this challenge and more impact has been given teaming them with this orange card.Now,glitter is usually the last thing I would go to for a male themed card but I thought I’d liven it up a bit with some touches of Glitter Shake Pen in gold for the centres of the stars and to draw around the shooting one on the sentiment.This was then heat embossed with clear powder for a cabouchon effect.A length of paper twine has been stretch across the border strip,a looped and tied bunch added then finally topped with a button threaded with more paper twine for a dimensional finish.

G(u)esso’s Having 20 Winks?

The gorgeous 20 Winks by Rick St. Dennis has been printed onto Desert Storm cardstock and,as I haven’t used them in a while,coloured with soft pastel pencils.Plus I’d never used them on this surface before.A few white gel pen highlights have been added to just the fairy and the caterpillar’s eyes to brighten them as the pastels were too faint.Altho’ they lay down quite chalky and dusty and also cover the lines a little,once they are set with the fixative spray they have more depth and vibrancy.I quite like how they’ve turned out on this cardstock too 🙂 Rest of the card is quiet simple…just a die cut base with freebie paper and a woodgrain embossed panel of sanded back Whitewash card,pInk ribbons and gems to match her dress and a sentiment.The gesso has been daubed and smeared about a bit.First time I’ve used it!So much fun but think I ended up covered in more than the card 😉 Drove the dog crazy too – she seemed to love the smell of it – weird?! It was pretty handy to edge the hessian/burlap die cut flowers as it held them together.Usually dab a little PVA dries clear glue around them.This way it ties everything in 🙂

Pretty Lazy in Spring

Here’s the pretty Lazy Days by Crafty Sentiments Designs.She’s been coloured with Copic Ciao Markers then fussy cut.I created a frame and gave her a ribbon covered border to perch on.It also allows the delightful paper to show through.The embossing at the bottom has been sanded to enhance the pattern and I hand pierced it to create a little more interest.The flowers and leaves are die cut from felt.A few gems have been scattered around to bling it up.

Thought I’d try my hand at a CAS,one-layered card featuring the endearing Buddy by A Day For Daisies.They’ve been coloured up with Spectrum Noir Pencils with added white gel pen highlights.Edged with a hand pierced border with a break for the stamped sentiment to be fitted in.I suppose that’s about it really 🙂

Although my title is a play on words this image just reminds me of my DS2 and our sweet,funny dog when they snuggle up together ♥ She’s far from a casual friend…in fact every chance she gets she makes herself very familiar.Even with total strangers!!
