A monster of a Birthday

Here’s a card I made for my DD1’s Boyfriend. The image is a freebie I picked up at Bugaboo Stamps a while back, printed onto ivory cardstock and coloured with AquaMarkers and a water brush.White gel pen was added to whiten his eyes and teeth plus the highlights on the balloon. You can just make out the Glossy Accents applied to the balloon too.The papers are K & Co and the cardstock is from my stash.I’ve used a Large Corner Rounder Punch and a Small one on the computer generated sentiment.Yup I made that one up myself!LOL.The Brads are Primary Making Memories and the string is cut from a price tag off an item of clothing.

Although I still think this looks like a kid’s card apparently he liked it!Having said that he is still a little like a kid – into his yo-yo’s and skateboarding. When do they ever grow up?!

Altho’ his Birthday’s not til December I’ve made this card for my DS1.I did have a little problem as my DS2 saw it after I’d made it and thought it was for him because his teacher picked him as Star of the Week for his work in Literacy. Not bad as they’ve only just gone back to school!  I feel a ‘Proud Mummy Moment’ coming on.

Mer-ry Christmas!

The challenge this week at Craft Your Passion is Under the Sea/Your Favorite Season. We have the fabulous Simply Betty Stamps as our sponsor.Hop on over to the challenge blog for full details on how to play along.Don’t forget to take a look at DT and GDT inspiration, they’ve done a wonderful job!

The DT were very lucky indeed to be give some new release images to play with. Here I’ve used the cute  Frosty Merkid on my card. He’s one of several adorable Merkids from Simply Betty Stamps.I wanted to try something different so I coloured with Copics (recently won on eBay) on kraft card.I really like how it turned out. Then it hit me!There are quite a lot of areas that should be white!I found my white gel pen handy for the smaller areas but as it’s on it’s last legs I didn’t think it could handle the snowman. So out came the Liquid Pearls. As well as looking pretty it added some texture too.I finished the whole thing off with some Baker’s Twine and die cut snowflakes with some more Liquid Pearls added to the centre.

Now as I’m trying desperately NOT to leave it to the last postal date to hurridly finish my Christmas cards (oh yes,2 years running!) and just ‘cos these images are just sooo sweet I couldn’t help but make another card :

This time I’ve used some Polar White Flower Soft on the trims on her hat and clothing plus a ribbon I ruffled.I’ve added a die cut swirl and button flower threaded with Baker’s Twine. She’s called Tiki Merkid.

Images : Frosty Merkid & Tiki Merkid from Simply Betty Stamps

Summer scene

The theme at AiFactory Challenges this week is Layer It Up.So we’dlove to see your creations with lots of layers. You have until 11:59EST on Wednesday July 27th to upload your project using the link below. You do not have to use an AIF image but we would love it if you did and you get an extra entry. You can find some great images in the store here. Don’t forget to take a look at the DT’s fabulous work while you’re there.

I’ve used some of the images from My First Rainbow Digital Stamps Collection  from AiFactory. I chose to make a Stair Step Fold to create a little scene using these fabulous papers as a starting point. All the images have been paper pieced and in fact the only colouring is on her eyes.I used a fineliner pen and a white gel pen to give her a twinkle in her eyes.Rather than cut out the individual bands on the rainbow I actually layered it up cutting  away the bottom bands to reveal the colour underneath.I finished the card with some pretty ribbon I found in my stash.

A revelation?!
Whilst making this card to make sure I got the colours of the rainbow in the correct order I scribbled down the first letters of the well known saying Richard Of York Gave Battle In Vain :

I also happened to have a recently purchased Core’dinations Cardstock pad to hand.I always wondered why it was called Roy G.Biv.A strange name I thought.Could it be the designers moniker?Hee hee – after writing these letters out the penny finally dropped!!So if you have this pad or have just pondered over the title now you know!

Supplies :
Images : My First Rainbow Digital Stamps Collection from AiFactory
Papers & Card : DP K & Co,Coloured card Papermania Textured Capsule A4 Colossal Pack,White card from Core’dinations Roy G.Biv Cardstock pad

Fluttering Round

Butterflies is the challenge at Digi Doodle Shop Challenges this week.To be in for the chance to win a $10 Gift Certificate for Digi Doodle Shop please visit the challenge site for full details.Don’t forget to take a peek at the DT’s wonderful work!

I’ve used the beautiful   Butterfly and Thistle from Digi Doodle Shop and coloured it with Gioconda Soft Pastel Pencils and the spots on the wings were whitened using a gel pen. This image is pretty apt at the moment as when I’m walking the dog I keep getting stabbed in the leg by the ginormous thistles growing along the sides of the fields.OUCH!I’ve used my newly accquired Marianne’s Design Circle Frame Set to create the shaped easel base.I added some definition around the edges with aProMarker. The bottom half has been layered up with some bargain papers at got at my local craft warehouse.I hope you can see the teeny gems and this rather delightful embellishment. It’s called a Craft Stapler by Creative Expressions.I got these in a bargain bin also at my local craft warehouse.I took a risk as I don’t have the tool to set them. All I did was work out where to make the holes either end of the staple, push the legs through and bend the ends over with my fingers.Very luckily!I added some gems to fill the gaps around the image to finish it off.

Supplies :
Image : Butterfly and Thistle from Digi Doodle Shop
Mediums : Koh-I-Noor Gioconda Soft Pastel Pencils,Winsor & Newton Artist’s Fixative,Inkssentials Opaque White Gel Pen,ProMarker in Orchid

A ‘mice’ cup of tea

There is a sketch to follow at Digi Doodle Shop’s Best this week.Play along to be in for the chance to win a $10 Gift Certificate to spend at Digi Doodle Shop! You could even be in the running to join us as GDT for a month.Don’t forget to take a look at the DT’s gorgeous work while you’re there.

Don’t forget there are new specials instore for the month of May!Check out my sidebar and click on through to take you there.

For my card I’ve used the totally adorable Mouse In Tea Cup (Cecil) and coloured him with ProMarkers with added white gel pen highlights. To add a little shading under and on the cup I used the Tea Green ProMarker and Blender.I find this gives a softer more subtle colour than using a grey. For a little extra shine I went over the tea cup with a glaze pen. Here’s a close up to show the detail :

I actually tuned the sketch on it’s side so I could incorperate the eyelets onto the edge of the image piece.I chose a gingham background and lacy edged dies to got with the country feel of the image.

Supplies :
Image : Mouse In Tea Cup (Cecil) from Digi Doodle Shop
Mediums : ProMarkers,Sakura Clear Glaze Pen
Papers : Making Memories
Tools : X-Cut guillotine,Nellie’s Multi Frame Dies Flowers,Borders 2,Nestabilties Standard Circles Large,Big Shot,Crop-A-Dile

The icing on the cake

It’s time for  a sketch at Craft Your Passion this week.We also have Digi’s By Phooka as our sponsor. If ultra cute’s your thing then you really need to check them out!!Please go to our challenge blog fro details on how to play and take a look at the fabulous DT and GDT creations while your there.

Here’s the sketch :

I’ve used the extremely cute Strawberry Cake from the Cakes set  by Digi’s By Phooka. What could be better than a cake with  yummy strawberries? One with a smiley face!I’ve used Promarkers to colour and topped it off with some Frosted Lace Stickles icing. It’s not as sparkly as other Stickles but gives a nice shimmer which my camera has decided to pick up for once.Apart from making good icing I’m pretty sure it’s going to come in handy for snow too.As soon as I saw this image I just knew which paper I was going to use.Originally I was going to use red card and embellishments but came across this lime coloured card in my collection and found the square brads that I’d forgotten I’d bought, whilst rummaging.I’m so glad I did as it gives a great contrast.I was a little stuck as to what to replace the butterflies with on the sketch.I had hoped to find some strawberry buttons but had no luck. Then it hit me….why not use the strawberries from the cake!It only cost me a little card and ink too. That’s what I like!Plus it had the added bonus of embellishments to match perfectly.I gave the stawbs some ‘shine’ with a white gel pen because  I wasn’t patient enough to wait for Glossy Accents to dry and nor did I want to drag my stamping stuff out  to clear emboss – I’d made enough mess as it was!!I think this turned out pretty cute and I hope you do too.

Supplies :
Image : Strawberry Cake from the Cake set at Digi’s By Phooka
Mediums : ProMarkers,Inkssentials White Opaque Gel Pen,Frosted Lace Stickles
