Hat’s my girl!

jsldt30thnov 001

This is the last week of the 3 or More Embellishments challenge at Just Some Lines.Oh my gosh! It’s December tomorrow! To play along you need to use a Just Some Lines image to enter and you could win a fantastic digi stamp if you’re picked as part of the Top 3!

I’ve coloured up the gorgeous Lissie’s Sun Hat by Just Some Lines with Graph’It Markers. The purple shades I own are perhaps a little more vibrant than the dusky plum paper I’d chosen so I’ve inked around all edges with Milled Lavender Distress Ink to tie everything together more. The papers and card have been given the other type of distressing treatment too.A length of tulle has been wrapped around the horizontal panel and a bow tied to the side.I ran the chisel end of one of my markers along the outside to add some definition. The centre has been topped with a gem pin.I bought these by mistake thinking they were brads 😦 So to adapt them I chop off part of the pin at the back using wire cutters then place a foam pad behind for what’s left over to embed itself into and adhere it using Glossy Accents.I love a happy ending 😉 I dug out a couple of metal corners to create interest and to fill the space at the top of the card. They also complete the vintage feel.

Don’t Lose Your Head!

cypdt25thnov

At Craft Your Passion this week the challenge is Thanksgiving/Give Thanks! We have the fabulous The Sugar Kissed Cottage as our sponsor too.Head on over to check how to play and win.Don’t forget to take a look at the DT inspiration, they’ve done a wonderful job.

I decided to watercolour this quaint Boy Feeding Turkey  by The Sugar Kissed Cottage in just brown tones to give a more vintage feel. But for some reason when it came to painting the turkey some of the printer ink bled a little and seeped a couple of different colours into the mix.Ah well,I don’t mind.I think it adds quite a nice effect to the bird 🙂 Once dry I applied Distress Ink around the edges to add a little more olde worlde charm.I carried this through to the delightful backing papers.I wrapped a length of some cotton twill tape that originally bound together a pack of tea towels around the panel then overlayed with some baker’s twine.I die cut a pair of buttons and a couple of swirls (trimmed down) out of cork sheet.I think this creates an interesting texture along with extra whimsy.I’m not sure about the boy’s true intentions of feeding the turkey 😉 But they do look as if they have a good bond.Maybe he’s saved him from a fate worse than the dinner table! And so out of this and my odd sense of humour the sentiment was borne!!

Pin-k!

jsldt23rdnov

This is the last week of the 3 or More Embellishments challenge at Just Some Lines.Eeek! And a reminder that Christmas is creeping ever closer!”To play along you need to use a Just Some Lines image to enter and you could win a fantastic digi stamp if you’re picked as part of the Top 3!

So I thought I’d have another go at using my Graph’It Markers to colour the sweet Em – Thank You String by Just Some Lines.Think I need some more skin tones tho’ 😉 A few white gel pen highlights have been added too.I chose some pretty First Edition papers to accompany her along with this lovely cardstock.I made a curved panel with a Spellbinders die and layered some die cut scalloped ovals on top before fussy cutting this gorgeous gal and adding her to the mix.The ribbon is some that was wrapped around a towel bale and I,being the ‘it-might-come-in-handy-one-day’ hoarder that I am,found it to be a perfect match to the pink card 🙂 It always seems no matter how much ribbon I buy it’s the little bits and pieces I collect that do the trick every time!I dug out some paper twine and tied a flower charm to that.To compliment the colours on Em,and to complete the card,I tucked a couple of pins under the bottom of the vertical piece.

Supplies :

At Craft Your Passion this week the challenge is Buttons Galore! We have the fabulous QKR Stampede and The Robin’s Nest as our sponsors too.Head on over to check how to play and win.Don’t forget to take a look at the DT inspiration, they’ve done a wonderful job.

How cute is this little Stuffed Reindeer by QKR Stampede?!He’s been printed directly onto the kraft card blank and coloured with Copic Ciao Markers, trying to retain the tartan detail.Just love how the colours turn out on these card bases 🙂 I’ve added some real buttons, threaded with jute twine,to his eyes and trousers.I had hoped to find a tiny pom pom for his nose amongst the kids crafting supplies but the only ones there were far too big.Never mind.A couple of scrap strips have been trimmed with decorative edged scissors to create a kind of ric rac look.In the top corner I’ve used some Epiphany epoxy button stickers stuck onto more scrap papers.I found these half price in my local craft warehouse and figured that rather than buy the special punch to go with them it would be easy enough to trim around them once adhered to paper.I then used a pokey tool to pierce the holes ready for threading 😀 Worked a treat…Yay!A leftover holly die cut is just peeking out from beneath them. Finally I stamped a sentiment,a freebie from one of last year’s Christmas magazines,in the top right corner.Chosen because he makes me smile 🙂

Supplies :

Hex-tra Joyful!

jsldt16thnov 001

Just a reminder that the month long 3 or More Embellishments challenge at Just Some Lines is still open.To play along you need to use a Just Some Lines image to enter and you could win a digi if you’re picked as part of the Top 3!

I’ve used the cheerful Em Joy by Just Some Lines on my card. She’s been coloured with Copic Ciao Markers and her shoes have been glammed up with a Red Copic Atyou Spica pen, along with the heart on her dress. It’s always so difficult to capture the sparkle on camera 😦 Does anyone know the secret?

Here’s an attempt in a close up :

Not brilliant but…it’s kinda there 😛

Please click on the pics for a better quality view. Not sure why but the ones in the post always look a little blurry.

I decided to make this sort of patchwork background using a die set that  I just had to buy way back in the Summer but have only used here for the first time!!These pretty papers were a freebie from a mag.I thought I’d add some interest to the sentiment by embossing it and then trimming it,and the red card it’s layered on to,down to fit the corner. It’s popped up on foam tape too.I’ve used Raffia Lace ribbon,Natural Ric Rac,a Tiny Wooden Shape which I’ve topped with a gem and another gem,in the shape of a flower, has been added to the sentiment.

Supplies :

A bit of Zentang-owl!

cypdt11thnov

At Craft Your Passion this week the challenge is Add Some Doodling. We have the fabulous Doodle Pantry as our sponsors too.Head on over to check how to play and win.Don’t forget to take a look at the DT inspiration, they’ve done a wonderful job.

So,I thought I would challenge myself!!I’ve done faux stitching, wobbly frames, frames using a ruler in the past…now to try something different!!And I couldn’t have found a more perfect image than this delightful Quirky Owl by Doodle Pantry .There are lots of other Quirky animals if owls ain’t your thing 🙂 Must admit it was a little strange armed with only a fine liner rather than an array of colours not say a bit daunting…but I found a useful site here.I was still feeling nervy as I began but as I went along I learned to let go and enjoy it!Of course I had the added pressure of this being a DT card and the fact that time was of the essence. Why don’t I ever take the easy route?!Not sure I got it all right and there are probably loads of mistakes that a seasoned Zentangler could spot but I’m quite pleased with the overall effect 🙂 I just had to use the pretty papers that came with the image to create a banner backdrop for him to perch amongst along with one of the sentiments also in the set.Following on from the theme I,naturally, drew in some faux stitching around the edges of the base card and banners 😀

Supplies :

This month’s challenge at Just Some Lines is 3 or More Embellishments. To play along you need to use a Just Some Lines image to enter and you could win a fantastic digi stamp if you’re picked as part of the Top 3!

For my card I’ve used the delightful Em – Thank you sign by Just Some Lines. You get two versions – 0ne with Thank You in the sign and the other is left blank for your own message.I chose the plain one and stamped a Birthday greeting.I’ve coloured her in with Polychromos pencils and paper pieced her dress from a  leftover piece of the background paper,to coordinate her perfectly. The beautiful papers are Teresa Collins Fabrications and I’ve created some bunting with some coordinating chipboard pennants that came with a freebie 6 x 6 version of the papers. I just had to ‘hang’ it using some Jute Twine – love this stuff 🙂 A die cut border and a flower with a brad added to the centre finish everything off nicely.

Wishing you Joy(fold) this Christmas

cypdt 001

At Craft Your Passion this week the challenge is More Than One Fold.We have the fabulous Bugaboo Stamps,Eureka Stamps and Bunny Zoe’s Crafts as our sponsors too.Head on over to check how to play and win.Don’t forget to take a look at the DT inspiration, they’ve done a wonderful job.

I’ve decided to revamp an old favourite,a twist on a Joy Fold Card,to go with this beautiful Wreath with Bird by Eureka Stamps. As soon as I saw it I knew I didn’t want to just colour it.I wanted to add some dimension too.Once coloured with Copic Ciao and Sketch Markers I then cut and coloured a layer consisting of the bow loops including the little bird, which I chose to turn into a Robin.Next I added the knot as in the original image it appears that the bird is nestled in just behind. The berries are Liquid Pearls. To create the card base I cut away roughly half of the front using a Grand Nestabilities Die and made a smaller card with a matching Nestabilities Die.Normally I would’ve plonked (technical term!) the smaller folded piece in the middle but I had the idea of securing the flap into place a button so being butted up to the far right edge seemed the better option.

Here is a pic to show how it works opened up :

cypdt 002

All edges of card and paper have been Distress inked and the sentiment stamped.Sadly the lovely lady who made it is no longer trading 😦 To complete the look some ribbon,a button, jute twine and a couple of sprigs cut from my new Cheery Lynn Die.Have to admit this is the first one I’ve bought (yeah,I know) but will definitely be tempted to buy some more 🙂

Everything’s coming up (cabbage) roses

jsldt2ndnov 001

This month’s challenge at Just Some Lines is 3 or More Embellishments. To play along you need to use a Just Some Lines image to enter and you could win a fantastic digi stamp if you’re picked as part of the Top 3!

For my card I’ve used the delightful Cabbage Rose Fairy by Just Some Lines .I’ve coloured her with my first attempt using my new Graph’It Markers.I also purchased some brush nibs for her hair.I quite enjoyed using these pens but think I need a little more practice.I like the bullet nibs as they are fine and fairly firm but the real bonus is you can remove the chisel end and add a brush nib if you want that extra bit of detail. It’s quite magical too watching the ink seep into them…LOL.There are some other fun accessories that go with them too – but I’ve yet to play further…They are great pens but I don’t think I would buy too many more as I already own a full set of Ciao’s and ProMarkers. If someone was thinking about starting using alcohol markers or only had a small collection of other makes I could recommend them.I know you can mix different brands but I prefer to stick to the same, whichever I choose to colour an image with…maybe I’m just strange?!  😉 …Back to the card…I picked some pretty papers to go with this gal and remembered I had just bought a new embossing folder that would suit her perfectly. Her wings have been coated with Frosted Lace Stickles for a more subtle shimmer.I dug out some ribbon and self adhesive pearls from my stash to complete the card.
