A Sweet Elf :)

cypdt21stnov-2

At Craft Your Passion the challenges are Always Anything Goes!We have the fabulous A Day For Daisies as our sponsor too.Head on over to check how to play and win.Don’t forget to take a look at the DT inspiration, they’ve done a wonderful job.

Here’s the utterly adorable Candy Elf A by A Day For Daisies.Thought I’d try a non-traditional Christmas colour palette along with a different colour combo rather than just grab my usual favourite pens.As a starting point to the card I wanted to try an idea with these recently received magazine freebie stamps. So out came the kraft card and some white embossimg powder plus my Versamark pad.Have to say I’m pretty impressed with the results, not only from the quality of the stamps but the embossing powder too.A die cut poinsettia topped with a jute twine threaded button and some pompom trim have been added as finishing touches.I did stamp and heat emboss a greeting at the bottom of the card and enhanced it with chalks, but the camera has failed to pick it up.Also it has failed to show the shine on the sweetie given by the 3D Crystal Lacquer I applied. It all looks so much better IRL…never mind as the little elf really deserves to be the star of the show 😉

This is actually a card for NEXT Christmas (2017) as I’ve already finished all those for this year 😀

Hex-tra Joyful!

jsldt16thnov 001

Just a reminder that the month long 3 or More Embellishments challenge at Just Some Lines is still open.To play along you need to use a Just Some Lines image to enter and you could win a digi if you’re picked as part of the Top 3!

I’ve used the cheerful Em Joy by Just Some Lines on my card. She’s been coloured with Copic Ciao Markers and her shoes have been glammed up with a Red Copic Atyou Spica pen, along with the heart on her dress. It’s always so difficult to capture the sparkle on camera 😦 Does anyone know the secret?

Here’s an attempt in a close up :

Not brilliant but…it’s kinda there 😛

Please click on the pics for a better quality view. Not sure why but the ones in the post always look a little blurry.

I decided to make this sort of patchwork background using a die set that  I just had to buy way back in the Summer but have only used here for the first time!!These pretty papers were a freebie from a mag.I thought I’d add some interest to the sentiment by embossing it and then trimming it,and the red card it’s layered on to,down to fit the corner. It’s popped up on foam tape too.I’ve used Raffia Lace ribbon,Natural Ric Rac,a Tiny Wooden Shape which I’ve topped with a gem and another gem,in the shape of a flower, has been added to the sentiment.

Supplies :

dscdt1stjuly

At Digi Sketch Challenge we have another new challenge and the theme this fortnight is Summertime. We have the super Bugaboo Stamps as our sponsor.

It’s the lovely Kelly’s turn to host and here’s her fabby sketch :

You can follow the sketch, theme or even both.Hope you stop by the challenge site and check out my fellow DT’s beautiful creations.A truly inspirational bunch.

For my card I’ve used Summertime Peekers Flower Pot by Bugaboo Stamps  and coloured this cutie with Copic Ciao and Sketch Markers.Altho’ it doesn’t show too well I did colour the flowers with Copic Atyou Spica pens for a little sparkle.I chose a lovely bright paper from a past freebie in Cardmaking and Papercraft magazine and found some coordinating card in my stash. The square panels have been embossed with a recently purchased embossing folder.I love it.It embossed so deeply and it only cost me £1.99 🙂 Inked over it to bring the pattern out further.I die cut a flower and some leaves to add the sentiment to.I tied a bow and left the tails long so I could twirl them around.

Supplies :

Quick Christmas Cat-ch up

wscdt13thdec 001

At Willow Sketchie Challenge  it’s the lovely Kelly’a turn to host and here is her fabby sketch :

The them is Quick and Easy Makes.Don’t forget you can follow the sketch and/or theme. You could be the lucky winner of a voucher to spend at Willow Designs too! As well as a winner (chosen randomly) there will be a hand picked Top 3 and they will receive a super cute badge for their blog.Don’t forget to stop by the challenge site and check out my fellow DT’s beautiful creations.A truly inspirational bunch.

For my card I’ve chosen the theme only, even tho’ the sketch is brilliant,so I could incorporate this fab Quick Card Panel by Willow Designs into it.This one is Panel 3 and has been printed onto some lovely hammer card I found in my stash.I did add touches of a Copic Atyou Spica pen but it doesn’t want to show in the photo 😦 I notched the corners at the top and added some metallic brads to go with the fab jingle bells. Not only are they perfect for a Christmas theme they suit this cute kitty well too.I tied them to the ribbon with some thread type stuff I bought from the jewelry making section at my local craft warehouse. It actually has a plastic core so it holds it’s shape really well.I slotted another, off cut, folded piece of ribbon behind to give a holly like appearance.Ta-dah!There you have it one quick and easy make!

Dressed to frill!

And a ‘frilling’ time it is!This is an exciting post for me as I was recently chosen to join the Just Some Lines DT!

A little while back I won some of their fabulous images from a challenge I entered, then was completely taken by surprise at being asked to do a GDT tutorial spot for them and now I’m a fully fledged DT member!Maybe it was meant to be!!

So on to the challenge which is Use 2 or More Mediums. There’s the chance to win a brilliant prize or picked as part of the Top 3.If you use a Just Some Lines image you choose to make an anything goes project or play along using the theme.Just pop on over to Just Some Lines to find out all the details. While you’re  there don’t forget to get inspired by the DT’s creations. You’ll get to see the other new girls too. There will also be a mid challenge reminder where there be more of the DT’s work on show.

For my card I’ve used the gorgeous Jenny Dress up  from Just Some Lines.I kinda went to town on this one.I’ve spent so much time and money collecting stuff and mostly I just colour with one medium.Maybe if I remember I might add a touch of sparkle, gloss or gel pen highlights.Well now I’m going to list everything I used to dress this girl up…Jenny is coloured with ProMarkers, white gel pen highlights, silver gel pen on her jewellery, her shoes were originally coloured with a Copic Atyou Spica pen but there just wasn’t enough sparkle so I smothered them in Glamour Dust, background coloured with pastel pencils…and finally…placed some tiny dots of Stickles around her.Not really sure if glitter and Stickles count as mediums, especially the former, but I wanted to bling her up.It’s no wonder she’s showing those shoes off!

Here’s a close up :

Papers are a freebie, the message is from a stamp set I won.Perhaps the ink I stamped with could be counted as another medium ;).I added some die cut swirls.Yet another seldom used craft item – oooh I’m bad.Just had to embellish with some Web Ribbon and of course some glamorous gems.

Supplies :

Image : Jenny Dress up by Just Some Lines
Sentiment : You’re Maaaarvelous Sophia by Paper Pretties
Mediums : ProMarkers,Sakura White Gel Pen,Papermania Silver Gel Pen,Turquoise Copic Atyou Spica Pen,Crystal Glamour Dust,Koh-I-Noor Gioconda Soft Pastel Pencils,Diamond Stickles ,Archival Jet Black Ink Pad

Sitting fairy-ily comfortably

The Power of Three is the challenge at Craft Your Passion this week.So you must use 3 of something in your creation…3 papers, buttons, flowers etc.We have the fabulous Milk Coffee and Crafty Sentiments as our sponsors.Head on over to check how to play and win.Don’t forget to take a look at the DT and GDT inspiration, they’ve done a wonderful job!

For my card I’ve used the beautiful Scilla Fairy from Crafty Sentiments and coloured her with ProMarkers. Her wings have been coloured with Copic Atyou Spica pens. It’s a shame it’s so hard to capture the sparkle of these on camera – they really do IRL.The papers were a freebie in the last issue of Cardmaking and Papercraft magazine. As her dress has a leafy feel to it I thought they would compliment it perfectly. The ribbon she’s sitting on is also a previous freebie from the same magazine.A piece of cheesecloth has been placed behind her to soften and break up the backing paper without covering it up.A lacy punch and die cut have been used for a more delicate look and no fairy as lovely this would be complete without some flowers and a bit of bling. My 3’s for this card are 3 gems,3 leaves and 3 3-layered flowers.

Supplies :

Image : Scilla Fairy from Crafty Sentiments
Colouring mediums : ProMarkers,Copic Atyou Spica pens

A sticky situation!

We have a fabby sketch from Anne-Marie this week at Willow Sketchie Challenge :

There is also the lovely theme of Animal Antics. You can choose either the sketch or theme. If you’re really up for the challenge you could even do both! You could be the lucky winner of a voucher to spend at Willow Designs too!Don’t forget to stop by the challenge site and check out my fellow DT’s beautiful creations.A truly inspirational bunch.

As soon as I saw this sketch I knew I just had to turn it into a criss-cross card! And then I knew exactly which image and papers I had to go for!The adorable image is from the Winnie Owl digital collection from Willow Designs. She’s been coloured with FlexMarkers and I’ve applied 3D Crystal Lacquer to her eyes, the honey jar and a thin layer to the puddle of honey she’s managed to spill everywhere.Glad to know I’m not the only mucky pup! It doesn’t show too well but I used a clear glitter pen on her eye shadow and the bee’s wings. The papers are a Rasberry Road freebie from a recent issue of Cardmaking and Papercraft magazine.

Here’s a piccie with the insert removed :

You can see the gloss better on this one as well as a clearer view of the papers.I also opened Winnie up in Word, played with one of the special Artistic Effects and saved her as a PNG so I could add her behind the recipe.I followed the vintage feel of the papers with the lacy punch and die cuts.To embellish I just had to reach for the vintage seam binding and pearls!

Supplies :

Image : Part of the Winnie Owl digital collection form Willow Designs
Mediums : FlexMarkers,3D Crystal Lacquer,Copic Clear Atyou Spica pen
Papers & Card : DP Raspberry Road freebie from issue 105 Cardmaking and Papercraft magazine,Blue card Bazzill Basics

Don’t forget to check my sidebar for this months specials over at the store.

Now on to my card.I’ve used this adorable Christmas Penguin from Digi Doodle Shop. Not only do you get this one you’ll receive him with a plain bauble – you can add your own message if you’d like!I’ve coloured him with ProMarkers and created some texture to his hat trims using Woodware White Fluffy Stuff.Believe me this is am amazing product -you MUST try it!I’ve defined the capital letters on the bauble with a Sky Blue Copic Atyou Spica pen before coating it in Glossy Accents.Black Soot and Broken China Distress Inks have applied to the edges. The backing piece of Core’dinations Gemstones card has been embossed with a Papermania A Silent Night folder. The edge of the vellum overlay has been punched with a Martha Stewart Aspen Edger. Some of the leftover snowflakes have been placed onto some punched from more Gemstones card using the matching corner punch.Teeny Crafts Too gems have been to the centres.More gems in the next size up have been used to cover up where I glued the vellum.Another piece of Gemstones card,in black, has been used to mount the whole image to define it from the background. A freebie sentiment stamp from a set in this month’s Cardmaking and Papercraft magazine inked with Jet Black Archival ink completes the card.

A precious coat

Over at Willow Sketchie Challenge we have  a fabby sketch from Shell :

This is her debut as hostess and very first sketch!

For my card I’ve used Precious from Willow Designs. Not only do you get a pre-coloured and digi stamp you also get a matching backing paper too!I’ve coloured her with ProMarkers and added some touches of Copic Atyou Spica pens. You may have noticed she also has a coat of Precious paper.I paper pieced this.Keep reading and you will get to a tutorial on how to do this with digi’s! I’ve added some texture with an embossing folder and added some coloured staples for extra interest. The little stapler is only 99p from The Works and comes with a selection of different colours of staples.

Here’s a close up to hopefully show some sparkle :

Supplies :
Image : Precious from Willow Designs
Sentiment : From Pink Cat Studio Fairy Friends plate stamped in Jet Black Archival Ink
Colouring Mediums : ProMarkers including Blender on sky,Copic Atyou Spica pens in Pink (gems on crown),Clear (star on wand) and Silver (buckles on shoes)
Papers & Card : Precious backing paper that comes with the image, Papermania Textured Capsule A4 Colossal Pack
Adhesive : Cosmic Shimmer Specialist Craft PVA
Tools : X-Cut Guillotine,Siesta Small Corner Rounder,Nellie’s Multi Frame Dies Squares,Nestabilities Classic Squares Large,Crafts Too Stars Embossing Folder,Big Shot,Mini Stapler
Embellishments : Coloured Mini Staples

Here is the tutorial.

The weather has been very cloudy so the light wasn’t too fantastic but you should get the gist :

First print your image onto copy paper.Note which way the paper comes out of your printer. Here I’ve marked an arrow to remind me which way to feed it back in.

I’ve resized the Precious paper at 25% in paint. That’s the beauty of digi papers! If using Designer Papers just choose a small pattern. They work better.

Next trim down the paper to fit the part you want to paper piece. Not only does this allow you to choose which part of  the pattern you want to use it also saves waste if you’re using your favourite papers. This technique is good for using your scraps too.I’ve adhered it using a Stix 2 Removable Tape Pen (the green one). You can also use low-tack masking tape but you must take care NOT to place this over any part you want to print  out. How do I know?Hee hee, through experience!

Pop you paper back into your printer making sure you’ve got it the right way round and print again.Although in this instance the image has printed a second time perfectly aligned the reason for printing out on ordinary paper is this isn’t always the case.

Print your image out onto the piece of cardstock you want to use on your finished project.

Cut out and colour as desired. Here I’ve cut out her coat using decoupage scissors to make sure I’ve got all round the finer details. It’s been stuck in place using a good quality PVA glue to make it easier to slide it into position.Use this sparingly as you don’t want it to wrinkle.I’ve stuck this down flat but you could shape the paper using your fingers and add some lift with some Pinflair Glue Gel.

Hope you give this a go.It’s such a fun way to add detail to your images and coordinates them beautifully to the rest of your work.

Any questions on this don’t hesitate to ask.

Here are some challenges this card is for :
