Con-tent-ed Swiss Pixie

The Sketchie Challenge for the Let’s Get Stamping group over at Craftbubble was set by Karen this week in the form of this sketch along with the twist of only using two colours :

As soon as I saw this layout I saw the potential to make another tent card.I’ve used an adorable Swiss Pixie stamp by CC Designs coloured with tones to compliment the colour scheme of the card.I’ve used the Out-of -the -Box technique and taken away the starkness of the cream card with Vintage Photo and Frayed Burlap Distress Ink.The papers are freebies from Summertime Designs. Please read and respect her terms of use.The red and tan card are from my stash and the colours have been toned down with the same inks.I’ve used Standard Circle Nestabilities to cut the apeture and matting layers. The red one has been embossed with my new Cuttlebug Polka Dots folder and I’ve applied Frayed Burlap ink with a cotton bud to tie in with the ladybird.I found some tan eyelets in my stash and used some tan waxed cord to hang her up.The flowers have been cut from felt using the Tattered Florals Tim Holtz Sizzix die and because they were too vivid I took the colour down with more Distress Inks.I threaded some buttons with more cord before adding them to the centres.I adhered two pieces of raffia lace either side of the apeture then tied some red raffia around, splaying and tearing the ends.I feel these elements tie in with the Vintage/Rustic look of the card. The sentiment is from the same set and the flower on it has been coloured with ProMarkers. and the edges have been inked.

I’m going to enter the following challenges with this card :

Passion for ProMarkers – Anything goes

The ABC Challenge – V is for Vintage

Oh Beehave!

I’m a bit beehind (tee hee) posting this one as I actually made it for last weeks Let’s Get Stamping Sketchie Challenge at Craftbubble.Kathy, our GDT,set this sketch and the twist of using a new or rediscovered technique fro the comfort of her holiday home in Florida where she’s residing at the moment -lucky thing :

Before I dicovered Promarkers I used to enjoy colouring with Polychromo pencils and oil thinners (cheaper version of Sansodor),moving the colour around with a cotton bud rather than more expensive paper stumps.I just love this Bees stamp from Stamps Happen – it’s my new favourite – but then aren’t they all!!I also dug out some Metallic Rub Ons from my drawers to add round the edges. They’re a kind of wax that you apply with your finger.Lovely and messy. The papers I’ve used are K & Co and the card is from the DCWV Old World stack.I thought it would make a change to add coloured card for matting.I generated the sentiment on the computer and used the same pencils and wax on it.The flower  is die cut using Sizzix Bigz Daisies #2  from – dare I say it – Funky Foam that I came across while rummaging through old forgotten craft stuff.Ive also ‘grunged’ the petals with some morewax..The center has been cut from a Standard Circles Nestabilities then embossed with the Cuttlebug Swiss Dots folder and  lightly sanded to emulate the daisies in the background.Corners have been cut with a mixture of Inverted Corner and Lip Pattern punches.

This card is for the following challenges :

Flourishes Timeless Tuesday Challenge – Make your own flowers

Crafty Creations – Use your favourite stamp

Simon Says Challenge – Pink or blue with green and brown

A floral delight!

It’s the day of the second Pear Tree Designs challenge so here’s my DT card. The theme this week is Floral Delights so that means we would like you to create a card/project that incudes flowers somewhere on it.We also have Stitchy Bear Stamps as a sponsor and they are offering one lucky winner 4 x digital images from their store!

I chose the rather gorgeous Fae Away image to work with. She’s been coloured with Promarkers.I also wanted to try my hand at a tent card as I thought it would give her the chance to fly.The base card has been cut from some Papermania Textured card.I’ve added a layer of another colour of the same card and I’ve used some K & Co papers. The apeture and frame have been cut with Oval  Nellie’s Multi Frame Dies and I’ve dangled her using some craft wire.I created the tag with Classic Ovals Nestabilties and placed the eyelet using my Big Bite. The flowers have been made with a Martha Stewart Flower Stamp & Punch set.I’ve used a mix of Lip Pattern and corner inverted punches  and I’ve added a length of grosgrain ribbon and pearls to finish.

I’m also entering these challenges:

I hadn’t set out to follow this sketch but by the time I’d cut the apeture and decided to position the ribbon I thought I may as well add the other elements.

…And a cupcake in a Pear Tree (Designs)

This is just sooo exciting on many levels! Not only is this a brand new weekly challenge  but I also got chosen to be part of the DT.Whoo hoo!!

Today marks the launch of the very first Pear Tree Designs challenge which has been set in the form of a sketch by Donna :

We were given the most delicious cupcake image to work with too. It’s one of Donna’s own designs and is available at Pear Tree Digital Designs for the bargainous special limited price of £1.00.

There’s a most  fantabulous prize up for grabs this week in the form of a Stampin’ Up Card Kit as well as two digi images of your choice from Donna’s store.

Why not pop over and check out the challenge and the other yummy DT cards?Go on,you know you want to!

For my card I used the rather aptly named Cupcake paper by Basic Grey and some zig zag corrugated card from my stash (I’ve got a ton of it and never use it nearly enough).I’ve coloured the image with Promarkers, added a highlight on the cherry with a permanent white pen before coating it in Glossy Accents. The icing has been created with three layers of a recently rediscovered white glaze pen.I toned down the papers with an ink pad as well as the card the image is on to make the cake pop out and say ‘Eat me’.I created a tag with a sentiment stamp I already had.I chose some red brads to finish the card and to compliment the cherry on the cake.

Out of luck!

All that scrumptious food and he’s not allowed any of it!

This was the second card I made using Rosie’s sketch and food theme at the Let’s Get Stamping group at Craftbubble.Except this time I turned it upside down.

This is the original sketch:

The hippo is a 99p one from Imaginisce and has been coloured with Promarkers. As he’d been stamped onto patterned paper the ink tends to bleed a little so I had to do some dentistry work with a white gel pen – if only it were that simple in real life! All the papers on this card are Basic Grey Cupcake and all edges have had the Tim Holtz Paper Distresser treatment.I made a sign with the sentiment that you can buy from the Imaginisce Wild Things collection to match.I hung it from the main image using  an antiqued metal brad to make it look like it had been outside for a while with some of my favourite hairy string. The ice lolly is a sticker from the same paper set and I’ve used Glossy Accents drips on it  for the circles on the sketch.

This card is also an entry for the following:

Creative Inspirations : Card for a child

Cards for Men : Outdoors

Ooh La La : Bright and Cheerful

Daring Cardmakers :  Boy Zone

A little gem

There was a theme of Burgundy,Pink and Green set at  A Gem of A Challenge along with an inspirational photo:

I’ve always loved this colour combo and it holds a special place in my heart too as they were my chosen Wedding Day colours.Originally it was going to be just pink and green so I think when I threw in this deep red shade my Step Mum was quite taken aback. But once she saw how well they worked together she soon came round.

I’ve used this colour scheme a lot in my cards in the past so I think that’s why when I went through my stash I found I had little of these colours left so I’ve had use some artistic license with the backing papers but I’ve stuck to them in the image … well except for the hint of sky… and I had to tie it in with the papers.

The stamp is a Pink Gem Designs one and she goes by the name of Summer Milly. She’s such a cutie as are all of the other images found there.I’ve coloured her with a selection of Promarkers, including Burgundy. The card is from my stash and the papers are a freebie from Summertime Designs.I’ve used a Hydrangeas Martha Stewart Edge punch to create the floral border. The bottom of the card has been embellished with some raffia lace and a length of Kars Christmas ribbon. The flowers are Prima and I’ve enhanced them using the same Promarkers as used in the image.I placed a spacer charm in the middle before adding the brad.

This card also qualifies for the following challenges :

Papertake Weekly : Say it with flowers

Stampavie and more : Flower Power

Pollycraft Monday Challenge : Summer Blooms

So sweet

This weeks Sketchie Challenge for the Let’s Get Stamping group at Craftbubble was set by Rosie with the added twist of ‘Food’:

I couldn’t believe my luck when this theme was set.I had already planned to make a card with these papers and image with some other challenges in mind – now I could combine it with another! The image is from Sliekje digi stamps. There are tons of fantastic images here and the lovely lady who draws them love to share them for free!!Please respect her terms of use tho’.I’ve coloured her with Promarkers.I punched the bottom edge using an Eyelet Lace Martha Stewart edge punch.I also punched the bottom edge of the layer it’s mounted onto and found some gorgeous organza ribbon to tie around – I’m thinking frilly jam pot covers here. The papers are by K & Co and the red card is from my stash. The green piece is Papermania Textured Card and has been embossed with the Swiss Dots Cuttlebug folder. The letters are die cut using Sizzix Monde de Blonde Alphabet Decorative Strip. The flowers are white felt cut with my new Tim Holtz Alterations Tattered Rose die to create strawberry blossoms. The centres have red buttons laced with some thread that matches the green card. This card reminds me of strawberry picking in the summer when I was a little girl.Nothing sweeter than strawberries with a sprinkling on sugar and lashings of cream. And all the copious jars of jam made from the overripe ones.Yummy!

Bring on Summer!

Glamour Puss

The Let’s Get Stamping Sketchie Challenge was set by Lauren this week with the twist of  “A Touch of Glamour”

This is the sketch :

Lauren had kept it simple ( a bit like my own good self!) so that we could adorn it any way we chose.

I do have some stamps of glamorous ladies that perhaps fit the theme a little better but I wanted a more quirky approach. So I used this cutie from the Kiki Kitty stamp set by Pink Cat Studios. She’s been coloured with Promarkers and I’ve added some tiny nail gems to her hatband and scarf.I used a Nellie’s Multi Frame Die from the Circles set and wrapped a length of scrap ribbon through the holes. It’s a piece that holds tops on their hangers in the shops.I stamped the sentiment from the same set, mounted it onto a Sizzix Bigz Tag die cut and tied it on.The flower is a layer pulled from a giant white fabric gerbera I bought in Poundland.I trimmed some of the longer petals for a better fit then coloured it with two shades of pink Promarker followed by a coating of Crafter’s Companion Spray and Sparkle Silver Glitter Varnish.(You can just about make out the shimmer – it’s far more sparkly IRL).The papers are K & Co and the card is Papermania Textured.A Lip Pattern punch has been used on the corners. Some large gems from the Early Learning Centre are used to embellish this card.

I’m entering it for these challenges too :

Stamp Something : Celebrate Something (Birthday)

Just fair(y) you!

Another gorgeous girlie for you to meet. This little lovely is called’ Thank you very much’ and is available to download from Willow Designs Stamps.

It’s also time for this week’s Willow Sketchie Challenge. Here’s Rosie’s sketch to follow:

And a recipe for you:

1.Some embossing

2.Some holes

3.Some leaves

I’ve coloured her with Promarkers and used  a white glaze pen on her wings to give some shine and to make a change from reaching for the  glitter.

I’ve used a double embossing technique to create a frame for the fairy within the swirls. The holes have been created using a ribbon threader punch. The leaves are a leftover piece that I had die cut a while ago. They weren’t quite the right shade of green so I set to work on them with the Promarkers.

Hope you can join in the fun this week!

These are the challenges covered by this card:
