Blitz with present by Crafty Sentiments Designs could be used for any gift giving occasion.Here I’ve chosen Christmas.Her clothing and neatly wrapped parcel have been paper pieced and the rest has been coloured with Copic Ciao Markers.The papers and colours are both non traditional but I thought the pastel shades would add some pretty festive cheer 🙂 The background panel has been created using a patchwork style design onto kraft card.Some complimetary ric-rac,from the same collection,has been stretched across the bottom.The greeting is stamped directly onto the base.The wooden wreath was a little too golden yellow to coordinate with the kraft so a couple of ink pads were used to tone it down a bit.This shall be another Christmas card for 2017 – I’ve now made 4 in total for NEXT year!!

A Pizza the action ;)

Meet Pizza Chef Mickey  by Digital Delights by Louby Loo.He’s been coloured using Copic Ciao Markers and a few touches of white gel pen.Thought what better way to display than on a pizza – well,more part of a pizza!I die cut a white card blank then covered it with kraft,with a little inking around the edge for a baked,crusty feel.Next a red card tomato sauce layer followed by a cheesy yellow cardstock.Finally a topping of pepperoni and green pepper die cuts to match those on Mickey’s pizza 😀 Whipped up a sentiment using Microsoft Word and that’s that!Didn’t feel it needed extra embellishment.This will be for my DS2’s Birthday in September (gotta get ’em done early you know!) as it’s no secret in our household that it’s his favourite pizza…not sure what he’ll make of the green peppers tho’ as he’s definitely no fan of them!

The challenge at Crafty Sentiments this week is Anything But a Card.Drop on by to join in the fun and be in with the chance of winning a super prize.Don’t forget to take a look at some fabulous inspiration by the talented DT while you’re there.

I wanted to try something a bit different with the adorable Molly – Sunflowers by Crafty Sentiments Designs.After mulling over a few gardening related ideas I thought about making a flower pot and adding in some handmade sunflowers.I found a great video here to create a wood effect planter type.She does omit the measurements for the main body of the pot but I figured out it needed to be 11cm high and the length of an A4 piece of card.She also uses a wood panel stamp but not having one I embossed with a folder instead and rubbed ink over it.I would have preferred to use my woodgrain embossing folder but as it’s still AWOL I made do with this one :S I added in some greenery as a filler cut from an icicle die and made up my sunflowers from yellow card after inking them and folding the petals for more dimension.The stems are some re-purposed round lolly sticks coloured to match the grass and leaves.The sunflower centres are buttons threaded with jute button thread and I tied a thicker piece of the same type of twine around the outside for a rustic feel.Molly was coloured with Copic Ciao Markers then fussy cut before being popped up on foam tape for dimension.There all done and it was quite easy to construct too – a huge bonus in my book 😀

Shaking it up for Christmas!

Over at the Crafty Sentiments Designs Inspirational Blog there is a special Advent Calendar to help you count down to Christmas.Every day there will be some gorgeous DT creations to get you in the festive mood.I do hope you drop by to take a look 🙂

Here’s my 1st December creation for you.

As soon as I saw the beautiful New Winter Skates  by Crafty Sentiments Designs I knew exactly what I wanted to do with her 🙂 I found this photo glitter dome in a local bargain shop and as luck would have it my little stamped beauty fitted it perfectly 🙂 Love it when a plan falls in place!!She’s been coloured with Copic Ciao Markers and to created some lovely dimension on the trimmings of her clothing I pulled out my Fluffy Stuff.This is an amazing product.To watch it as you heat is just pure magic – but then maybe I’m easily pleased or just need to get out more LOL.Also this is perfect for this project as once set it’s there.Needs to be with the rigorous shaking this will get!Here’s a pic of the back view with some patterned paper backing with a lovely Seasonal greeting :

Hope I’ve managed to capture the magic for you!It was quite some feat juggling everything,being quick with the camera and not getting too much glare off the dome 😉

Die Cutting a Dash and Looking Dapper

The challenge at Crafty Sentiments this week is Use Die Cuts.Drop on by to join in the fun and be in with the chance of winning a super prize.Don’t forget to take a look at some fabulous inspiration by the talented DT while you’re there.

Here’s Billy -Mr Romantic by Crafty Sentiments Designs all dressed up.Altho’ I don’t think you need to save him for just that kind of occasion.He’s very much suitable for male themed cards too 🙂 My soon-to-be-13-year-old son (Oh!The joyful prospect of a teenage son!!Eeek!Help!) loves to don a trilby and waistcoat when he wants to look smart too.So this card is in his honour 🙂 Anyway,back to Billy…he has been coloured with Polychromos Pencils that have been blended out using low odour oils thinners and a paper stump. As you can probably tell I’ve made a shaped easel card using a set of dies that have also cut the paper layers too,the top one being a half and half concoction.I also used a die to make it look as if Billy has been torn from a sketch pad.The greeting has been cut from a die too.The buttons aren’t real either.They’ve been cut from red card using a die set.Yeah,I kinda went die cut crazy!!

Fairy-ly Blue (and Silver!)

I’m super excited to be sharing a card that I’ve made as a Guest Designer for the Just Some Lines Facebook Challenge.To enter the November Colour Scheme Challenge you need to use any combination of red,green,silver and blue.You may choose just one or two with other colours as long as the listed ones are the main.The other stipulation is that you must use a Just Some Lines image.But with so many beauties in the store it wouldn’t be difficult to choose!My card,along with other wonderful inspiration and extra details on how to enter,can be found on the Just Some Lines Blog too.

You can find the stunning Christmas Fairy at Just Some Lines.I decided to go with a blue/silver combo but as you can see there is a teeny amount of red and green on the image.Her dress has been paper pieced and the rest coloured with Copic Ciao Markers.Being a fairy her wings had to have the obligatory glitter 😀 I coloured them in cool greys first to keep in with the silver part of the theme then coated them in Glamour Dust.The dots on her hair and wings have been defined with a silver pearl pen and the berries on the garland the robin is nestling in with Liquid Pearls.Here’s a closer view :

The papers and cardstock I’ve had for more years than I care to remember but were just perfect for this project.It’s a good job I’m such a crafty hoarder 😉 Maybe one day I will get through my entire stash – well,in my dreams perhaps!After stamping and punching the sentiment out I thought it was lacking something so I hit upon the idea of framing it with the punched out snowflakes from the border.Not only does this keep everything coordinated it also doesn’t cover up too much else.A length of silver cord with a snowflake charm tied to seemed to finish the whole thing off nicely 🙂

Tip : By paper piecing your image you can coordinate it to the rest of your project and it’s a good way of covering a large area if you are unsure about colouring it.

A Little Christmas Help

Isn’t this just the cutest Christmas Helper you could have?She can be found at Crafty Sentiments Designs.She’s been coloured with Copic Ciao and Sketch Markers with,altho’ it doesn’t show too well,a little snow scattered around her feet.The edges have also been ink distressed.I’m desperately trying use use up old Christmas stash rather than buy any more new.So the card is some I bought a few years ago.The back panel has been embossed with a folder.The ribbon,twine and jingle bells are also from my stash…O.K. I have to admit the embossing folder(part of a set)…and the sentiment stamps are new,but these were a half price bargain and there are loads of words.A girl’s gotta be allowed a little new stuff,isn’t she? 😉

Seeing Eye to Eye ;)

At Craft Your Passion this week the challenge is Bingo!(check blog for board).We have the fabulous Zap Pow Designs as our sponsor too.Head on over to check how to play and win.Don’t forget to take a look at the DT inspiration,they’ve done a wonderful job.

Rather than go down the Halloween route with Noah,The Lil Monster by  Zap Pow Designs I made a quirky  friendship card – or maybe that should be fiendship card 😉 First I opened him up in Word,then after resizing and copying,flipped him horizontally,positioned just so and finally Grouped to make one picture.I decided to do some fun paper piecing with him/them!The paper was a lovely,thick quality so I cut the eye section out using a craft knife to give extra dimension.As Noah has such defined lines it made him a dream to cut out and being able to do so carefully it means I have leftovers to make another pair 🙂 To overcome the problem of them each having a coloured tooth I filled in over the paper with a white gel pen.Their eyes have been coloured with Copic Ciao Markers.The hearts are brads positioned over the original drawn ones.The line I chose from the Bingo Board is  Twine,Image and Brads.

It’s kinda funny when the kids say our dog is “Mummy’s best friend”,as opposed to man’s,because she devotes her days to following me,whimpering and scratching at any door that comes between us I call her “Mummy’s best fiend”.

Here’s a little story about said “fiend”.Whilst shopping I thought I would get my poor left behind Socks a treat.When I got back I’d just brought the last bag of
shopping in and got ready to unpack only to find somebody had already started!

In moments like these you cant help but say “Oh,what have you done?”

Not liking being in trouble with her Mummy she crawled across the floor on her belly and ended up trying her hardest to get me to forgive her with a tickle under the chin.

But,of course,you can’t resist a little face like that,can you?! ♥

I suppose at least she only took what was hers and not the bar of chocolate I’d bought as a treat for myself 🙂

I decided to revisit colouring on kraft card with pencils as I’ve not done it in a while and I wanted a more countrified feel.The delightful Chicken Run is by Crafty Sentiments Designs and I got my Polychromos out…I always start with a cream base before adding skin tones.For the chickens I applied a layer of orange first then the brown tones for shading.This is because I wanted to differentiate them from the bench as I only have three shades of brown in my collection.Afterwards I traced over the lines with a sharpened black pencil as they can become obliterated.A touch of white gel pen highlights their eyes.I think I chose the wrong type of kraft to do this on tho’.It matches the card base and seems to be coated rather than have the key of other card of this variety so I found myself having to increase the pressure and coverage of the pencils which possibly detracts from the shading.I think I made a mistake by getting carried away with the background.I feel I should have left some bare kraft showing.But then I’m probably a little out of practice…not that it matters when you’ve got an image this cute tho’  🙂 Overall I am quite pleased with the outcome.Hope you like it too…

Back to school we go!

So,the Summer Holidays are zooming by so fast they will soon be over 😦 My youngest is feeling a little out of sorts knowing that this will be his last year at Primary before heading off to ‘Big School’.What better way to cheer him up with a card featuring this perfect image,Back to School by Crafty Sentiments.He’s been coloured with Copic Sketch and Ciao Markers.These papers seemed ideal to go with him too 🙂 I hand cut the arrow and it’s matching layer – so don’t look to closely LOL…A few brads and a paperclip tied with twine have been added.Thinking school supplies here 😉 I dug out my Dymo,as it hasn’t been out to play for a while,for the sentiment.
