Beach Babes

It’s Anything Goes at Digi Doodle Shop Challenges this week. Please take a look at the challenge blog for details on how to play along and be in the chance to win a $10 Gift Certificate to spend at Digi Doodle Shop.Don’t forget to check out the beautiful DT work while you’re there.

I’ve used the darling little Beach Babes  from Digi Doodle Shop and coloured them with Soft Pastel Pencils.I’ve wanted to make a Center Step Card for a while and thought this image would sit nicely on it.I dug out some lovely seashell paper from K & Co to go with them. The sentiment is a freebie from the Sentiments/Word Art section at the store. This is from the Sentiments for Summer set and I’ve shaded around the edges with more pastel pencil.I’ve added some coordinating pearls and baker’s twine. The pearl charm is actually from a set of underwear I bought (cut off BEFORE I wore it I hasten to add!).I thought it was far too bulky and would show through my clothes so I put it to a much better purpose!

A precious coat

Over at Willow Sketchie Challenge we have  a fabby sketch from Shell :

This is her debut as hostess and very first sketch!

For my card I’ve used Precious from Willow Designs. Not only do you get a pre-coloured and digi stamp you also get a matching backing paper too!I’ve coloured her with ProMarkers and added some touches of Copic Atyou Spica pens. You may have noticed she also has a coat of Precious paper.I paper pieced this.Keep reading and you will get to a tutorial on how to do this with digi’s! I’ve added some texture with an embossing folder and added some coloured staples for extra interest. The little stapler is only 99p from The Works and comes with a selection of different colours of staples.

Here’s a close up to hopefully show some sparkle :

Supplies :
Image : Precious from Willow Designs
Sentiment : From Pink Cat Studio Fairy Friends plate stamped in Jet Black Archival Ink
Colouring Mediums : ProMarkers including Blender on sky,Copic Atyou Spica pens in Pink (gems on crown),Clear (star on wand) and Silver (buckles on shoes)
Papers & Card : Precious backing paper that comes with the image, Papermania Textured Capsule A4 Colossal Pack
Adhesive : Cosmic Shimmer Specialist Craft PVA
Tools : X-Cut Guillotine,Siesta Small Corner Rounder,Nellie’s Multi Frame Dies Squares,Nestabilities Classic Squares Large,Crafts Too Stars Embossing Folder,Big Shot,Mini Stapler
Embellishments : Coloured Mini Staples

Here is the tutorial.

The weather has been very cloudy so the light wasn’t too fantastic but you should get the gist :

First print your image onto copy paper.Note which way the paper comes out of your printer. Here I’ve marked an arrow to remind me which way to feed it back in.

I’ve resized the Precious paper at 25% in paint. That’s the beauty of digi papers! If using Designer Papers just choose a small pattern. They work better.

Next trim down the paper to fit the part you want to paper piece. Not only does this allow you to choose which part of  the pattern you want to use it also saves waste if you’re using your favourite papers. This technique is good for using your scraps too.I’ve adhered it using a Stix 2 Removable Tape Pen (the green one). You can also use low-tack masking tape but you must take care NOT to place this over any part you want to print  out. How do I know?Hee hee, through experience!

Pop you paper back into your printer making sure you’ve got it the right way round and print again.Although in this instance the image has printed a second time perfectly aligned the reason for printing out on ordinary paper is this isn’t always the case.

Print your image out onto the piece of cardstock you want to use on your finished project.

Cut out and colour as desired. Here I’ve cut out her coat using decoupage scissors to make sure I’ve got all round the finer details. It’s been stuck in place using a good quality PVA glue to make it easier to slide it into position.Use this sparingly as you don’t want it to wrinkle.I’ve stuck this down flat but you could shape the paper using your fingers and add some lift with some Pinflair Glue Gel.

Hope you give this a go.It’s such a fun way to add detail to your images and coordinates them beautifully to the rest of your work.

Any questions on this don’t hesitate to ask.

Belle of the Ball-et

The theme at AiFactory Challenges this week is Handmade by Me.We would really love to see your handmade embellishments. You have until 11:59EST on Wednesday August 3rd to upload your project using the link below. You do not have to use an AIF image but we would love it if you did and you get an extra entry. You can find some great images in the store here. Don’t forget to take a look at the DT’s fabulous work while you’re there.

For my card I’ve used the delightful Ella the Ballerina Digital Stamp from AiFactory. She’s been watercoloured with Distress Inks.I’ve teamed her with some pretty K & Co papers, including the quote, and some lovely shimmery pearlescent card. Now,I’m totally rubbish at anything needlecraft wise but one thing I can make successfully are these rosettes, either from ribbon or,as in this case, lace.I’ve topped it with another handmade element. This is the first ribbon rose I’ve ever made.I used a quilling tool to wind it round, twisting it every now and then.More stitching holds it all together.I did actually glue it to the lacy rosette tho’ *blush*

Supplies :
Image : Ella the Ballerina Digital Stamp from AiFactory
Colouring Medium : Distress Inks in Tattered Rose (skintones),Scattered Straw and Wild Honey ( hair),Spun Sugar (dress and shoes),Antique Linen (shading underneath her tutu and to ground her)

I was lucky enough to get to work with three adorable images. They’re from Animals in Xmas Sock set available at Digi’s By Phooka and I couldn’t resist making a card for each of them. This also means I’m now up to 19 Christmas cards made so far this year!!Yay!All have been coloured with ProMarkers and have had Polar White Flower Soft added to give them fluffy trims to their stockings.Just love this stuff!I’ve kept to the same layout I’ve devised for this year’s cards and have kept to my promise not to use traditional colours for the first time this year.Apart from the fact I bought oodles of these papers and embellishments that I snapped up in the after Christmas sales I think they suit these little darlings perfectly.I’ve mixed it up a little with different embellishments and the placement of them.

21 Today!!

Ha ha no,not me.It’s been soooo long I can bearly remember it!LOL.It’s actually my DH and mine’s 21st Wedding Anniversary.Yes,on the 21st!And it’s on Digi Doodle Shop Challenges day! What better pressie could a girl (I use the term loosely) want.Well…apart from the pretty flowers and yummy chocs.

So on to the challenge for this week. We’re looking for your Clean and Simple cards/projects.To be in for the chance to win a $10 Gift Certificate for Digi Doodle Shop please visit the challenge site for full details. You don’t have to use a Digi Doodle Shop image but if you do your entry will count twice!Don’t forget to take a peek at the DT’s wonderful work!

Because I’m totally rubbish at lining stuff up to print off I used a template from My Verse Editor Plus by Crafty Ideas by Kaz to allow me to position this beautiful and graceful Swans image from Digi Doodle Shop  directly onto a watercolour card base.I wouldn’t do this for just anybody and I’m certain my DH won’t have a clue how privileged he is!I watercoloured with Distress Inks and once dry embossed a frame around it using  a score board.I took some vintage seam binding and squelched it around in some Distress Ink that I smooshed onto a glass mat then spritzed with water.I dried it off ,scewing it into a ball, with my hairdryer. I added the Circular Word Art which is a freebie at Digi Doodle Shop and matches the image perfectly.

Supplies :

It’s like Christmas come early!

Well after announcing that my first card for Willow Sketchie Challenge would be next week here I am!So here’s the  fabby sketch Lis-M designed :

Hope you can join us!We’d love to see what you do with the sketch! There’s some great inspiration from the DT too.

You don’t need to use a Willow Designs image but it would be great if you did.The shop offers lots other wonderful crafty goodies too like the rather yummy fabric panels,CD-roms and ProMarkers galore!Well worth a visit.

For my card I’ve used the adorable All I Want For Christmas from Willow Designs.I’ve used the pre-coloured image (you also get an uncoloured digi stamp) these are a joy to use when you’re short of time.Of course there’s nothing wrong with putting them on your card as they are but being me I decided to dress him up a bit by giving him some glassy eyes and fluffy trim to his hat.I’ve also inked around him to tone down the whiteness of the card I printed him onto. The panel behind him has been embossed then inked to enhance the pattern.I added a die cut flower with a  yummy button and baker’s twine centre and parts of a swirl die plus some of my fave grossgrain ribbon.I couldn’t help but think of the song when making this card so stamped part of a ‘Love You’ stamp along with an exclamation mark. The only person I could possibly give this card to is my DH!Hmmmm…or maybe our new dog.LOL.Decisions,decisions…

Summer scene

The theme at AiFactory Challenges this week is Layer It Up.So we’dlove to see your creations with lots of layers. You have until 11:59EST on Wednesday July 27th to upload your project using the link below. You do not have to use an AIF image but we would love it if you did and you get an extra entry. You can find some great images in the store here. Don’t forget to take a look at the DT’s fabulous work while you’re there.

I’ve used some of the images from My First Rainbow Digital Stamps Collection  from AiFactory. I chose to make a Stair Step Fold to create a little scene using these fabulous papers as a starting point. All the images have been paper pieced and in fact the only colouring is on her eyes.I used a fineliner pen and a white gel pen to give her a twinkle in her eyes.Rather than cut out the individual bands on the rainbow I actually layered it up cutting  away the bottom bands to reveal the colour underneath.I finished the card with some pretty ribbon I found in my stash.

A revelation?!
Whilst making this card to make sure I got the colours of the rainbow in the correct order I scribbled down the first letters of the well known saying Richard Of York Gave Battle In Vain :

I also happened to have a recently purchased Core’dinations Cardstock pad to hand.I always wondered why it was called Roy G.Biv.A strange name I thought.Could it be the designers moniker?Hee hee – after writing these letters out the penny finally dropped!!So if you have this pad or have just pondered over the title now you know!

Supplies :
Images : My First Rainbow Digital Stamps Collection from AiFactory
Papers & Card : DP K & Co,Coloured card Papermania Textured Capsule A4 Colossal Pack,White card from Core’dinations Roy G.Biv Cardstock pad

Avast,me hearties?

At Craft Your Passion Challenges this week we want you to Text It.Which means we’d love to see you use text on your creations. We’re sponsored by the fabulous Lauretta’s Digital Stamps and CoCoDingo.

.Please check out how to play along and be in the chance for a prize on the challenge blog.Don’t forget to take a look at The DT and GDT’s wonderful work while you’re there!

For my card I’ve used Little Pirate Boy from Lauretta’s Digital Stamps. He’s been coloured with ProMarkers and although it doesn’t show too well I added some Glaze Pen to the sword and his buttons.I’d had my eye on this paper pad for a while and just had to snap it up when it was half price at my local craft warehouse – and it was the last one!!Again it doesn’t show but the pirate ship comes ready glossed.I distressed all the edges and added some of my fave waxed cord and a charm.Rather than hunt through my stamps or print one off the computer I decided to cut out a greeting from a piece of the backing paper.

Supplies :
Image : Little Pirate Boy from Lauretta’s Digital Stamps
Sentiment : Taken from the papers (details below)
Mediums : Promarkers,Sakura Clear Glaze Pen

Beauty of the Carousel

At Digi Doodle Shop Challenges this week we’d love to see you Make Your Own Flowers. To be in for the chance to win a $10 Gift Certificate for Digi Doodle Shop please visit the challenge site for full details. You don’t have to use a Digi Doodle Shop image but if you do your entry will count twice!Don’t forget to take a peek at the DT’s wonderful work!

I’ve used the very beautiful Carousel from Digi Doodle Shop to create my card. The colouring has been done with Copic Sketch Markers.I tried something a little different to make the shaped card base.I took just the corner punch from my Martha Stewart Cherish Punch Around the Page set to scallop the bottom edge and shape the corners. I did the same on the patterned paper but just punched the corners on the image piece.I tried to replicate the pelmet on the carousel by draping some grossgrain ribbon under the image. I made the flowers by cutting out the shapes from some coordinating paper 6 times and doubled up the layers. To add dimension I first folded them in half horizontally and vertically pattern side in then quarter turned them and folded themin the same manner pattern side out.I added a stamped sentiment in an ink as close a match as I could find to one of the Copics I used .Some 2mm and 3mm gems have been used to embellish.

Apart from being beautiful I think this is just the most perfect Summertime image.

Supplies :
Image : Carousel from Digi Doodle Shop
Sentiment : Personal Impressions Mixed Sentiments clear stamp set
Mediums : Copic Sketch Markers ; YR30,E81,RV63,RV55,RV66,BG53,BG70,YG61,Memento Dew Drop Ink Rosebud

Tools : Martha Stewart Corner Punch from Cherish Punch Around the Page Set,X-Cut guillotine, decoupage scissors,Woodware 1″ Circle punch
