Bow Wow Wow!

Anything Goes this week at Digi Doodle Shop Challenges. To be in for the chance to win a $10 Gift Certificate for Digi Doodle Shop please visit the challenge site for full details.Don’t forget to take a peek at the DT’s wonderful work!

I’ve wanted to use the sweet little Bootsie from the Ragga Mutts Collectables by Digi Doodle Shop for a while and having recently got a dog from a shelter I thought what better time. He’s based on Judy’s (the owner of Digi Doodle Shop) very own dog and been coloured with ProMarkers. At first I was going to make a card using brown tones and the thought he deserved a much more cheery home.So I settled on these papers.I got the idea to add a shoping list and thought a piece of Papermania Kraft Basics would be just the job.It comes with the lines printed on it.The only downside,of course,is you can see my ‘orrible handwriting : ( This is probably a typical list of what I buy our pampered pooch every week. With the exception of the shampoo. She’d rather not have a bath as she’s scared of water! She’s such a baby but that makes her even more lovable.I finished up with a paperclip that I wouldn’t like to say how long I’ve had and a maxi brad with the greeting stamped on.I love stamping on brads!

Posing for the camera!
You did lay this out for me didn’t you?Hmmmn….no.
As you can see she’s NOT allowed on the beds.D’ya think someone should tell her?Oh yeah,we did!
Lazy hound!Mind you if I had a bed as cosy as this I think I would spend most of my day here too.

She was due to be put to sleep because her owners never claimed her and her time was up in the pound.A vet said she shouldn’t be and was she was sent to re-homing shelter. She’d been there a while too 😦 My kids fell in love with her as soon as they met her. She’s so gentle and loving. She absolutely soaks up all the attention and cuddles she gets 🙂

Thanks for looking and putting up with all my doggy pics!

Happy Birthday to Choo!

At AiFactory Challenges were asking you to Use Your Favorite Embellishment. You have until 11:59EST on Wednesday July 6th to upload your project using the link below. You do not have to use an AIF image but we would love it if you did and you get an extra entry. You can find some great images in the store here. Don’t forget to take a look at the DT’s fabulous work while you’re there.

For my card I’ve used Toy Train Clipart. As you can see I’ve flipped the image as  I felt it looked better that way. That’s the beauty of digital images.I then decided to coat the image in clear ultra thick embossing enamel. It’s so much easier than using normal embossing powder  as you don’t have to keep layering it up to get the result you want.As for my favorite embellishment…well…it had to be… BUTTONS!Love ’em.I managed to sneak in some baker’s twine.I couldn’t have put them on my card naked!!

Comfy cat

At Craft Your Passion this week the challenge is Seeing Red.So we’d love you to use red in your cards/projects.We have 2 fabulous sponsors – Lauretta’s Digital Stamps,CoCoDingo Digital Stamps. For full details to see how to play along and be in for the chance to win please visit the challenge blog.Don’t forget to take a look at the DT and GDT’s wonderful work too.

For my card I’ve used the most adorable Chat qui dort (Cat who sleeps) and coloured this sleeping cutie with ProMarkers.I made a shadow box card adapting the size to fit a 5″ x “7 envelope. The front has been cut from a piece of Basic Grey  paper (although it’s more like a lightweight cardstock) from the Cupcake Collection and a Nellie’s Multi Frame Die has been used to cut the aperture. To get the image in the right place I printed it in the middle of a sheet of cardstock and laid the front piece over the top and marked in pencil where I needed to trim it to. I used a length of raffia ribbon along the bottom and made a bow, splaying it out at the top to make it full.I printed the sentiment on the computer, mounted it onto some coordinating paper and added flowers cut from some unfurled raffia ribbon and placed some buttons in the centres.

Supplies :
Image : Chat qui dort from CoCoDingo D|igital Stamps
Sentiment : Made by me

Wheely vintage

We have a sketch for you to follow at Digi Doodle Shop Challenges this week :

To be in for the chance to win a $10 Gift Certificate for Digi Doodle Shop please visit the challenge site for full details.Don’t forget to take a peek at the DT’s wonderful work!

I really wanted to work with this fabulous 1930 Roadster from Digi Doodle Shop. It’s such a classic guy’s image. As you can see I had to s-t-r-e-t-c-h the sketch to accommodate it.I watercoloured it using Tea Dye Distress Ink ,adding a little Vintage Photo to darken the tyres, then applied some around the edges too.Once it was dry I clear embossed and when cool I bent the card to make cracks appear.I rubbed it over with more Distress Ink to bring them out and for a more shabby look.I did the same to the sentiment I printed on the computer.I took a piece of patterned paper, screwed it up (how could I ?!),gave it a rub over with Distress Ink,then roughened the edges allowing it to tear in one place (more paper abuse!).The angled panel and die cut cogs were passed through an embossing folder and even more ink was applied. To give a softer look I spritzed it lightly with water and dabbed it gently with a tissue.I’m so glad I did this.I usually pluck die cuts straight from the machine and plonk them onto my card.Doing something like this just adds so much more interest.I’d like to think this card demonstrates that you can use the same creative techniques for digi stamps that are applied to rubber stamps.

The theme at Craft Your Passion this week is Paper Piecing. We have the fabulous AiFactory as our sponsor. Please visit the challenge site to see how to play along and win!Don’t forget to take a look at the DT and GDT’s wonderful work too.

I made a free standing pop-up card using images and the sentiment from This Little Birdie Set II digital stamps by Aifactory.I arranged the sentiment and printed one of the birds on a piece of card then paper pieced the bird.I added the dotted line to make it look like the bird was fluttering away from the nest.I coloured this with Copic Sketch Markers and paper pieced the eggs before cutting it out and adding it to the front.I finished it with an eyelet, some ribbon and my newly acquired baker’s twine.

*Please excuse my rubbish photo.I don’t know why but I just couldn’t get the lighting right and it looks wonky. It REALLY isn’t IRL*

Surf’s up!

It’s Summer Fun at AiFactory Challenges this week. You have until 11:59EST on Wednesday June 22nd to upload your project using the link below. You do not have to use an AIF image but we would love it if you did and you get an extra entry. You can find some great images in the store here. Don’t forget to take a look at the DT’s fabulous work while you’re there.

I’ve used an image from Surf’s Up Ready For Swim Dudes to create this side step card.I thought this style would be ideal for the shape of this little guy plus it meant I could add lots of waves using one of my fave punches.I also added some acrylic dew drops.Just love using these on water  themed cards and I have a ton as I bought the ones they sell as table decorations rather than the more expensive ones for crafters. The sentiment looks a little fuzzy here but I think the camera homed in on the image rather than the whole card.I’m going to save this card for my DS1’s Birthday in December!Apart from not knowing too many surfing phrases this will be pretty apt as he will be 10!

I would go out tonight…

…but I haven’t got a stitch to wear.

Of course this would make more sense if you can imagine Morrissey warbling along! Not that this song has much to do with this card BUT it kind of wormed it’s way into my brain when I first saw this image and has stayed firmly there.

This week at Digi Doodle Shop Challenges we’re looking for Stitching on your cards/projects.One lucky winner will get a $10 Gift Certificate to spend at Digi Doodle Shop. For some beautiful inspiration please take a look at the DT and GDT’s work.

For my card I’ve used the gorgeous Vintage Corset & Pantaloons from Digi Doodle Shop.I used Copic Sketch Markers to colour her hair and clothing. Her skin has been coloured with ProMarkers. The reason being that I was so lucky to win the Copics and didn’t have the colours for skintones.I love these double sided papers so much (even more so for finding them at the bargain price of £3.99!) and wanted to show off both sides so I decided to make a frame to go around her.I added a panel of embossed card behind her in the same colour that the patterned paper is matted onto to create the illusion that it is all one piece. I used my Sew Easy Tool to make the holes for the hand stitching. The buttons were threaded seperately then adehered so that they look like they’re stitched on.

Supplies :
Image : Vintage Corset & Pantaloons from Digi Doodle Shop
Mediums : Copic Sketch Markers ; E81,YR30,BG70,E23,E87,RV55,RV63. Promarkers ; Blush,Dusky Pink,Coral

Now that’s magic!

The theme at Craft Your Passion this week is It’s Magical! We’re sponsored by the talented Didge’s Doodles. For further details on how to play along and for some fabulous inspiration from the DT and GDT’s please visit the challenge blog.

I’ve used Hatched Dragon by Didge’s Doodles.I’ve coloured the image with some Copic Sketch Markers.I was so,SO lucky to win this set from Stamp Something Challenges.I still can’t believe it!They’re the new set of 12 colours. I wanted to use them so badly but was a bit limited as I usually like to achieve depth in my shading when using ProMarkers. So the combinations may be a little quirky and the shading not as deep but the colours do tone well with the papers.I’m still a happy, lucky bunny!I’ve already started looking at adding to them but the prices in the UK are pretty steep. It’s more likely I’ll be going for a set of Ciao’s.Apart from being a bit easier on the pocket I’m not really up on the differences …. if anyone has any advice I’d be grateful.Anyways, back to the card.As this will be a Father’s Day card from my youngest I’ve kept it fairly simple.Just added a punched border (I usually cheat when it goes behind something .Instead of being continuous  I only use the amount of card that shows.I’m frugal,me!) ,some die cut corners and some star gems I’ve had aaaaages.I thought this sentiment suited the image but I will add a Father’s Day message  inside.

Supplies :
Image : Hatched Dragon by Didge’s Doodles
Sentiment : From Crafter’s Companion Clearly Hand Stamped Kit by 3 Birds
