Shiny Shoes

Pauline our host for this week at Willow Sketchie Challenge has provided this fabby sketch :

The theme is Sparkle & Shine. You can choose either the sketch, theme or both to play along. You could be the lucky winner of a voucher to spend at Willow Designs too! As well as a winner (chosen randomly) there will be a hand picked Top 3 and they will receive a super cute badge for their blog.Don’t forget to stop by the challenge site and check out my fellow DT’s beautiful creations.A truly inspirational bunch.

I’ve used New Shoes coloured digital stamp by Willow Designs for my card.Although it doesn’t show in the pic the image has been coated with Spray & Shine and is actually quite glossy. Both backing papers were sprayed with Spray & Sparkle but again the camera hasn’t picked that up too well either. What’s the secret,eh?I have used some pearlescent textured card that has managed to catch the light.I’ve finished the card with some black gemstones.

I mirrored the sketch but as  I was doing it from memory I didn’t realise til afterwards I hadn’t cut the panel behind the image large enough 😦 Ah well, will try harder next time!

Just a reminder that there’s still time to apply for the DT Call at Willow Sketchie Challenge. All the details can be found here.

Butterflies…

…anybody remember the TV series starring Wendy Craig? If you do you’ll probably have the theme tune running through your head right now!

Things with Wings is the theme at Craft Your Passion. We have the fabby Stitchy Bear Stamps and Letraset as our sponsors!Head on over to check how to play and win.Don’t forget to take a look at the DT and GDT inspiration, they’ve done a wonderful job!

For my card  I’ve used Butterflies in the Grass by Floppy Latte Designs from Stitchy Bear Stamps. They’ve been coloured with ProMarkers. To get a perfectly circular, freestanding card I die cut a circle card from a white card blank. The trouble with this is you don’t get a perfect circle because you have to allow for the fold in the card.So I cut an identical sized piece of card to fit over the top.To make it stand without tipping to one side I simply cut a sliver from the bottom of the back flap of the card making sure I stay in line with the original fold.I cut some freebie paper from Cardmaking and Papercraft magazine to fit inside the cut and embossed frame.I adhered the ribbon, also part of the free gift, before I stuck everything down, adding the bow separately.I filled the centers of the flowers on the frame with some teeny gems.

Supplies :

For my card I’ve used some stamps from the Polly & Walter A6 Clear Stamp Set by Willow Designs and for added dimension I’ve decoupaged Walter.I’ve coloured with ProMarkers including some of the yummy Limited Edition Summer colours. Here’s a closer view of the layered up Walter :

Yes,I like to colour each layer. You never know who’s gonna tip it up to take a peek!

These gorgeous papers are a freebie from the latest issue of Cardmaking and Papercraft magazine. You even get a set of ribbons to match. You can just see some of the zingy orange one poking thru’ the punched strip.I’ve had this punch so long and I believe this is the first time I’ve used it!!I’ve only used every other hole of the punch and just added small pieces of ribbon behind those. That way I still have a load left for another day! No wastage!!I’ve adhered a wooden butterfly button which I’ve given a coat of acrylic paint to then threaded with some of my fave paper twine.

Now for some exciting news!!

Endear-Wryn little fairy

Flips and Folds is the theme at Craft Your Passion this week So we want to see your cards with more than one flip/fold.We have the fab Tiddly Inks and Robin’s Nest as our sponsors too!.Head on over to check how to play and win.Don’t forget to take a look at the DT and GDT inspiration, they’ve done a wonderful job!

For my card I’ve used the totally adorable Wryn Fairy Friends  from Tiddly Inks. Not only do you get Wryn herself but you get some super extras. She’s been coloured on kraft using pastel pencils with white souffle pen on the spots of the toadstool. Her wings were coloured with the same pen and sprinkled with Glamour Dust. The snail and butterflies were coloured and cut out then added with teeny foam squares to add dimension.I decided to try a Side Spring card as I never made one before and found a great tutorial at Splitcoast Stampers.I did actually make mine from a piece of cardstock 1″ bigger all round (6 1/2″ x 9 1/2″) and adjust where I scored accordingly.I used white frames to add some pop plus some of these beautiful free papers.

Supplies :

Images and sentiment : Wryn Fairy Friends from Tiddly Inks
Colouring Mediums :  Koh-I-Noor Gioconda Soft Pastel Pencils,Winsor and Newton Artist’s Fixative,Sakura White Souffle pen,Crystal Glamour Dust

Feeling in the pink (and green!)

Image

It’s Hazel’s turn  to host at Willow Sketchie Challenge this week and here’s her fabby sketch :

The theme is Favourite Colour Combo. You can opt for either the sketch, theme or both. You could be the lucky winner of a voucher to spend at Willow Designs too! As well as a winner (chosen randomly) we will be having a Top 3 hand picked by whoever is hosting the challenge for that week and will receive a super cute badge for their blog.Don’t forget to stop by the challenge site and check out my fellow DT’s beautiful creations.A truly inspirational bunch.

For my card I’ve used one of the recently released A6 Clear Stamp Sets from Willow Designs. They work fabulously as a mix and match across the sets and of course they go equally well with the Polly Pickleberry CD-rom.This one is Polly & Walter and I’ve used the masking technique to allow Polly to take a seat on the toadstool. After stamping Polly where I wanted her I stamped her onto some copier paper and cut her out.Using some repositionable adhesive (green Stix 2 tape runner) I covered her over and positioned the toadstool exactly where I wanted it.That’s the beauty of clear stamps!I coloured her with ProMarkers to match the backing paper. This has been printed from the Polly Pickleberry CD-rom onto linen textured card.I told you they worked well together!I’ve used some pretty pearlescent card to compliment the paper and stamped and coloured the frame to match too.The greeting inside is from the set too and as you can see fits a treat. To finish the card I’ve added some gingham (yeehaw!) ribbon and some cute pearl brads. As you can probably tell I’ve rotated the sketch.I did have a hard time picking my favourite colour combo as I have quite a few.lol.In the end I decided to plump for Pink & Green for a lovely Summery fresh feel.Well we have had a few hours of sunshine this week 😀

Supplies :

Image, frame and sentiment : Polly & Walter A6 Clear Stamp Set from Willow Designs
Paper : From Polly Pickleberry CD-rom by Willow Designs

Fairy-ly pearly!

It’s Anything Goes at Craft Your Passion this week!We have two fab sponsors –My Heart Pieces and Simon Says Stamp.Head on over to check how to play and win.Don’t forget to take a look at the DT and GDT inspiration, they’ve done a wonderful job!

For my card I’ve used the delightful Bathing Fairy from My Heart Pieces and coloured her with FlexMarkers.I added some touches of glaze pen to the lenses on her glasses and wings. To give her bath a more luxurious feel I applied Liquid Pearls to the bubbles and dotted some more around the image. For something different and instead of the out of the box technique I cut another scalloped circle from a second printed image and layered it over the part of the original image that had been cut away.I was going to layer it onto a piece of coloured card to give a spotlighting effect but decided I didn’t want to cover any of the image.I die cut a few circles and adhered them to the vertical strip to carry through the bubbly theme.I recently bought the ivy and bird die and thought it would work perfectly alongside this image. The sentiment was a freebie from BirdsCards and there’s a small amount of Liquid Pearls on that too.To finish the card there are some flat back pearls too!

Supplies :

Image : Bathing Fairy from My Heart Pieces
Sentiment : BirdsCards
Mediums : FlexMarkers,Sakura Clear Glaze Pen,White Opal Liquid Pearls,Peeled Paint Distress Ink

A sticky situation!

We have a fabby sketch from Anne-Marie this week at Willow Sketchie Challenge :

There is also the lovely theme of Animal Antics. You can choose either the sketch or theme. If you’re really up for the challenge you could even do both! You could be the lucky winner of a voucher to spend at Willow Designs too!Don’t forget to stop by the challenge site and check out my fellow DT’s beautiful creations.A truly inspirational bunch.

As soon as I saw this sketch I knew I just had to turn it into a criss-cross card! And then I knew exactly which image and papers I had to go for!The adorable image is from the Winnie Owl digital collection from Willow Designs. She’s been coloured with FlexMarkers and I’ve applied 3D Crystal Lacquer to her eyes, the honey jar and a thin layer to the puddle of honey she’s managed to spill everywhere.Glad to know I’m not the only mucky pup! It doesn’t show too well but I used a clear glitter pen on her eye shadow and the bee’s wings. The papers are a Rasberry Road freebie from a recent issue of Cardmaking and Papercraft magazine.

Here’s a piccie with the insert removed :

You can see the gloss better on this one as well as a clearer view of the papers.I also opened Winnie up in Word, played with one of the special Artistic Effects and saved her as a PNG so I could add her behind the recipe.I followed the vintage feel of the papers with the lacy punch and die cuts.To embellish I just had to reach for the vintage seam binding and pearls!

Supplies :

Image : Part of the Winnie Owl digital collection form Willow Designs

In the frame

At Craft Your Passion this week the theme is Chevrons (we’d love to see a chevron pattern on your project). Here’s a little inspiration :

We have three fab sponsors – Crafty Sentiments,Delicious Doodles and Pizzazz Aplenty.Head on over to check how to play and win.Don’t forget to take a look at the DT and GDT inspiration, they’ve done a wonderful job!

For my card I’ve used this little cutie called Kai from Crafty Sentiments. She’s been coloured with Koh-I-Noor Gioconda Soft Pastel Pencils.Rather than reach for the usual ProMarkers I thought I’d use some of the other mediums I bought as ‘must haves’ that just end up mostly lurking amongst all the other unused craft stuff 😦 Oooh,I’m bad! These are so versatile. You can get a soft, smudgy chalk like effect but with more control but you can also get more fine detail too.I have to admit I did over work the hair first time but I just went back in and put the texture back with firmer more deliberate strokes. They were blended  more for the rest of the image but to get a more intense colour I layered them twice. There’s no need to panic if the image outlines look a little chalky, once you spray the fixative they reappear like magic! To make her stand out from the frame I did decoupage her clothing, adding another bow to it,and her hairband.I’ve always wanted to create one of these types of frames but never been brave enough to try.Not sure why – they’re easy!I followed the instructions in Simply Cards & Papercraft magazine Issue 96.The only difference being I’ve used a whole 6 x 6 sheet to accommodate  the image.Well, there’s no point having a beauty like this and making her too small to see!I did have to buy these papers for the challenge as I didn’t have anything with chevrons on but I’m sure they won’t go to waste  as they’re all so totally gorgeous!I raided my die collection and embellishment stash to finish the card.
