Nice weather for ducks!

At Craft Your Passion this week we you want to Show Lots of Texture. We have the fab The Cutting Cafe and Robin’s Nest as our sponsors too!Head on over to check how to play and win.Don’t forget to take a look at DT and GDT inspiration, they’ve done a wonderful job!

I’ve used some images and words from the Rain Rain Go Away Printable Stamp Set from The Cutting Cafe. There are so many super images and sentiments in this bundle that I just had to make more than one card!I’ve used ProMarkers to colour with glaze added all over the boots and just on the duck’s beak and water.I think I went a b it heavy handed with it on the boots and it seemed to leach some of the colour of the lighter red and create a divide in the shading 😦 The shades of red were beautifully blended as in the flowers on the duck card originally.Never mind it’s taught me lesson to go easier next time!To create lots of texture I’ve used these fab card blanks I picked up from my local craft warehouse, some corrugated card from my stash, hessian and some of the beautiful new Papermania Capsule Collection papers.I’ve torn some of the edges for added texture too!

Supplies :
Image and sentiments : From Rain Rain Go Away Printable Stamp Set by The Cutting Cafe

Spot the hedgehog!

We have a fabby sketch and the theme of add 3 or more brads or eyelets at Willow Sketchie Challenge this week. Here’s Shell’s sketch :

You can choose either the sketch theme or both. You could be the lucky winner of a voucher to spend at Willow Designs too!Don’t forget to stop by the challenge site and check out my fellow DT’s beautiful creations.A truly inspirational  bunch.

For my card I’ve used the adorable Colin in the Garden digi stamp from Willow Designs and coloured it with FlexMarkers.I love hedgehogs! The spotty paper is from the Polly Pickleberry Cd-rom also from Willow Designs. The tabs and sign are some Quikcutz dies I got off eBay and they’ve been run through a woodgrain folder in my Big Shot ‘cos I thought it was a good idea 😉 I’ve added brads to the sign and the leaves running down from the top left corner are shaped brads too. All edges have been distressed for a rustic look.I’ve also flipped the sketch. This is intended as  a Father’s Day card for one of my kids to give to their Dad.Yep,I’m getting in early! So the sentiment was chosen not just because the little hedgies are in pots but as a way of saying thanks for helping me to develop into the person I’m becoming too.

Sparkling with in-tent!

At Craft Your Passion this week the theme is Die Cuts and/or Punches. We have Stitchy Bear Digital Stamps and Simon Says Stamp!  as our fab sponsors too!Head on over to check how to play and win.Don’t forget to take a look at DT and GDT inspiration, they’ve done a wonderful job!

For my card I’ve used Lil Trumpeteer by Floppy Latte Designs  available at Stitchy Bear Digital Stamps. He looks like he’s heralding in the Spring.I wanted to create a ‘caught in crystal’ effect. The trouble is inkjet printable acetate is ridged on one side to give a key for the ink.So I flipped the image so that I could allow the smooth side of the acetate to be face out on the window aperture I’d cut in my card. Now because the gloss medium I wanted to apply is water based I knew I couldn’t use it on the printed image as it would run into an icky mess.So that’s where another piece of acetate came in.I scribbled some gloss over it,not getting to close to the edges, then sprinkled some mica powders and Glamour Dust about.I used yet another piece of acetate to smoosh it around a bit (I’ve saved that  for another day).Once dry I backed the image with it.The day before my copy of Cardmaking and Papercraft dropped onto my doormat with these gorgeous papers and matching chipboards. The butterfly and flowers in the corner have been coated in Glamour Dust.Icut the flowers from one of the sheets too and lined the inside of my card with a bright green one.I got to use my lovely new swirly die that I picked up rather reasonably reduced price at my local craft warehouse 🙂 I stamped the greeting onto the chipboard piece and completed the card with some grosgrain ribbon and pearls.

Seeing stars!

Shaped Cards is the theme set at Craft Your Passion. So no squares or rectangles allowed! We have Kenny K and Pizzazzaplenty as our fab sponsors too!Head on over to check how to play and win.Don’t forget to take a look at DT and GDT inspiration, they’ve done a wonderful job!

For my card I’ve used Anime Rocker from Kenny K Downloads.I’ve tried to colour him as close to the Anime style as I could get.The colours are more definite light/dark contrasts rather than the graduated shading I usually try to achieve.I even highlighted areas with a white gel pen.Something tells me I NEED to stop watching Pokemon!!For the card base I folder a piece of silver mirri card in half and used a template printed off my ‘puter for the shape.I then used a smaller one to cut the corrugated card layer.I then switched to cutting the other two stars with a die – a lot easier and quicker! The middle one is Whitewash card passed through an embossing folder and sanded to bring the notes out.I stamped and cut out the sentiment adding a safety pin.I punched some holes then set some silver eyelets and tied through some faux suede strips I found in The Works.I love  ’em!Word of warning tho’.If you buy them open the packet and let them air as soon as you get them. Not sure if it’s the dye but they don’t half whiff!Luckily I needed to stroke them once I got home so they’re OK now.Every time I look at this card I just want to sing “Welcome to Shooting Stars,Welcome whoever you are”.

Supplies:

Spotted checking out the garden

It’s Hazel’s turn to host the Willow Sketchie Challenge this week and here’s her fabby sketch :

There is also a theme of Lots of Layers. You can choose to follow the sketch or theme. You can also do both if you’d like. You could be the lucky winner of a voucher to spend at Willow Designs too!Don’t forget to stop by the challenge site and check out my fellow DT’s beautiful creations.A truly inspirational  bunch.

For my card I’ve used a new digi stamp called Busy in the Garden by Willow Designs.Ain’t she sweet!I’ve coloured her with FlexMarkers and decoupaged her.She even has shiny wellies!

You can just make out the glimmer of light reflecting off the 3D Crystal Lacquer.

And here’s a closer view of the decoupaged effect.

The papers are from the Polly Pickleberry CD-rom by Willow Designs.I’m still ploughing my way through these. There are so many wonderful designs :)I’ve also used my new flower die that I picked up at my local craft warehouse for the bargainous £3.59.Been after these a while  so sometimes it obviously pays to wait!I added some teeny gems to the centres and layered some leaves behind them.

This is what my DH had in mind for me this Easter weekend (cheers mate!) but as our lovely weather has totally broken I may have just wriggled out of it – hopefully! Not that I don’t like gardening. It just plays havoc with my back I usually end up bent double looking like I’m trying to touch my toes for a week afterwards!Ouch!
