As soon as I saw this adorable Birthday Pug by 2 Cute Ink¬†I knew I had to play with him!My DD1 has a real thing for these little dogs since she saw then being dressed up in a series of ads on the TV a little while back so I thought I’d jump in and make a card for her birthday in October!!He’s been coloured with Copic Ciao Markers.Couldn’t resist glossing up his eyes and nose – and the camera has actually picked it up ūüôā The sentiment isn’t actually on the original image,it’s been stamped on.I chose a mix of colourful papers to go with him.An arch shaped die was used to cut and layer him up.I’ve ¬†used my favourite corner rounder punch on all the backing pieces. The rosette/flower thing is made up of punched, folded circles adhered to another punched circle. Some baker’s twine and a button have been added to finish.

Hamsters just want to have fun!

cypdt10thfeb 001

At¬†Craft Your¬†Passion¬†this week the challenge is 200th Challenge Special – Pick any challenge from the past year.We have the fabulous¬†2¬†Cute Ink¬†¬†as our¬†sponsor too.Head on over to check how to play and win.Don‚Äôt forget to take a look at the DT inspiration, they’ve done a wonderful job.

I just had to opt for this cute, cute Hula Hoop Hamster as they’re my favourite animals – just don’t tell my dog,OK?! He’s from¬†¬†2¬†Cute Ink¬† but I’m afraid he doesn’t seem to have made his way over into the new shop yet, maybe he’s having too much fun playing ūüėČ The owner is trying hard to transfer all her digital stamps and you can still check out her other adorable creations there ūüôā He’s been coloured with Graph’It Markers including the Blender to create a soft sky-ish effect around him.Yeah,sky-ish ‘cos it’s not a full blown sky!I kept the card fairly simple by adding this fab apple paper and a white punched border to contrast with both that and the kraft base.A little hand stitching in white to create a little interest plus my chosen theme was ‘Haberdashery Items’.I put a little ‘FUN’ into the card using the¬†Whimsy Spell It Out Alphabet Set¬†stamped onto self adhesive cork, then hand trimmed.Even tho’ this is self adhesive I still tend to dollop a little glue on the back,as with any product of this nature,to give it extra staying power!Three sweet little wooden heart buttons have been added higgledy piggledy (there’s a good old fashioned phrase for you!) style along the bottom.

Washi-ing you a sweet Christmas

cyp2nddec 001

At¬†Craft Your¬†Passion¬†this week the challenge is ¬†“We Washi You A Merry Christmas”.We have the fabulous¬†2¬†Cute Ink¬†as our¬†sponsor too.Head on over to check how to play and win.Don‚Äôt forget to take a look at the DT inspiration, they‚Äôve done a wonderful job.

Here I’ve printed the adorable Gingerbread Girl¬†by 2 Cute Ink¬†directly onto my kraft card base and coloured her with PolyChromos Pencils blended out with low odour oils thinners using paper stumps. The white icing is a Souffle¬īpen.I added a couple of strips of washi tape down the side and topped it with a die cut flower with this sweet brad through the centre. The sentiment was stamped directly onto the base too.I’m so late making my card this year…this is kind of my signature style for this season.

After finding a few tutorials on how to make you own washi tape I thought I’d like to give it a go.I didn’t have the Scotch Magic Tape they suggested but thought I’d try it with some cheap clear sticky tape (99p for 2 rolls in The Works). It’s quite easy to do.Basically you stick the tape to your chosen patterned papers using a bone folder to eliminate air bubbles (I found it easier to trim it afterwards).Soak in water for approx. 10-20 seconds.Gently rub the paper off the pad of your finger whilst it’s under the water. It’s more about the soaking than the rubbing so if it doesn’t come off easily leave it in the water until it does so you don’t scratch the pattern.BUT of course the hardest part was waiting for it to dry…lol… ūüėÄ

This is a great technique as you are not limited design wise and you can match it to coordinate with any of your craft collections.Best of all you get to use your scraps! How many of those leftover strips of paper do we end up with?

This is the result :

cyp2nddec 002

For this one I printed out the equally loveable¬†Gingerbread Boy by 2 Cute Ink using the same colouring methods. The washi tape turned out not too bad,eh?Was a bit worried how it would look against the kraft but I think it’s OK ūüôā Maybe the matte tape would give a more authentic look than regular tape however I don’t mind.If you give this a try yourself you MUST remember to use adhesive on the back of the tape strips ūüėČ This time I finished it off by adding a glittered chipboard piece with a cute gingerbread man brad from the same collection as the papers I used.A different sentiment has been stamped to mix it up a little.

For my card I’ve used the adorable Monster Balloon Digital Stamp¬†¬†by 2 Cute Ink¬†and coloured him with ProMarkers. His balloon has given a coating of Glossy Accents.I’ve layered up¬†various¬†papers¬†from¬†the Kars Vector paper pad.I turn to this pad time and time again for male themed cards. You can just pick out that the one behind the monster is glittered too.I chose some green cardstock to coordinate and a few brads to match.Metal embellishments just seem so right on masculine cards ūüôā The sentiment has been made on my Dymo Labelmaker using a plain bold font this time, then cut into banner shapes.Love this little gadget ūüėÄ This card is for my DH from my youngest son.
