At Craft Your Passion the challenges are Always Anything Goes!We have the fabulous Little Blue Button Stamps as our sponsor too.Head on over to check how to play and win.Don’t forget to take a look at the DT inspiration, they’ve done a wonderful job.

Here I’ve coloured the beautiful Listening to the music Jessica by Little Blue Button Stamps with Copic  Ciao Markers.I’ve gone for a more unusual combo of purple with accents of olive green to compliment the paper and even gone out of my usual comfort zone with her skin tones too!The design has been kept quite simple by using a musical note embossing folder and die cut some circles with outer edge stitching to allow the paper to peek through.Wish the smallest size was…well…smaller so the placement could have been a bit more random but I like the effect anyway 😉 Finished with a die cut and stamped button sentiment.Been wanting to use these again for a while but misplaced the die.I only found it when I was looking for something else I’d lost in my crafty stash!!

I’ve coloured up the beautiful and serene Mix Media “Peony” by Little Blue Button Stamps with Polychromos Pencils along with some Iridescent Medium painted over the hummingbird and her eyelids to give a shimmer to her green eye shadow. You may just be able to make it out?It was then cut out with a die to make it seem as though she had been torn from a sketch book. The sentiment has been stamped directly onto this piece too.I have to admit the card base was a little too small to place it elsewhere!I really wanted to use this die to cut the shaped card from as I thought it a good match for her hairstyle,so I had to compromise with the size.It measures around 5″ x 5″.The pretty paper was part of a magazine freebie.I stretched the lace across and held it in place with decorative staples. The flower, also supposed to a peony, I made myself by die cutting some white self adhesive fabric as it had a lovely texture.I coloured all the layers with Copic Ciao and Sketch Markers and once dry I shaped the layers.I left the backing paper on the bottom flower to give it more stability. As I didn’t want the second flower or stamens to stick to anything else I dusted the backs with talc…which worked beautifully 🙂 A black gem has been added to the centre.Three white flat backed pearls adorn the top right hand corner as I always think they go so well with lace 🙂

Here’s the adorable Sleeping Puppy by The East Wind. She’s been coloured with pencils for a furry effect with the obligatory shine added to her nose with a spot of white gel pen 😉 The bed and blanket have been paper pieced with extra shading and details added with more pencil colouring.I’ve made a shaped tent card by only die cutting up to the fold then embossing the rest using some stitch effect dies. The papers and stitch effect dies were chosen for that cosy home feeling and very much in keeping with that sweet snuggly pup 🙂 The ric rac fits with the soft theme and the tag is (supposed) to emulate that found dangling from many a dog’s collar. The twine tied buttons tie in with the sewing undercurrent running through the card.

Now for another drowsy pup :

It’s Day 2 of the sneak peeks of the June New Releases at Crafty Sentiments Designs. There are 5 new rubber stamps from the Ginger Snaps Collection available from the 23rd June!

Drop on by the Crafty Sentiments Designs Inspirations Blog to check out some amazing creations 🙂

This is Little Polly – I Love Cupcakes and isn’t she just the sweetest?!She’s been watercoloured with pencils for a softer look to go with the pastel colours on the card. The background piece is Whitewash card embossed with one of my favourite folders then sanded back to reveal some of the colour. The edges have been pierced too.A panel of cute cupcake paper which has had the top and bottom punched plus an aperture cut has been placed over Little Polly to frame her.The sentiments have been cut from another sheet of paper from the same collection and I ‘made’ the epoxy sticker buttons by placing them over yet another piece of paper with – yes, you’ve guessed it! – buttons printed on it and cutting them out, including pierced holes. The largest one has been threded with some Baker’s Twine – how apt 😀

Here’s a close up of the frosting on her cupcake decorated by applying Frosted Lace Stickles.See what I did there 😉

Feeling ‘Vine’ :)

**Please click on the pic for a clearer view. For some reason they always look a little blurry on the blog page 😦  **

At Craft Your Passion this week the challenge is a Colour Inspiration (bit of a clue). We have the fabulous The East Wind as our sponsor too.Head on over to check how to play and win.Don’t forget to take a look at the DT inspiration, they’ve done a wonderful job.

Meet the beautiful Aurora ‘Vine’ by The East Wind. She’s been coloured with Copic Ciao Markers and,if you look carefully, there are touches of Glamour Dust on the roses in her hair, eye shadow, gloves and shoes.I created a shaped card to accommodate this beauty made up ,mostly,of pastel card with a lovely spotty paper. The lilac card has been embossed. Some ribbon and a baker’s twine threaded flower button have been added along with some rolled roses to compliment the ones in her hair.I’ve sat these on die cut flowers with an arrangement of die cut leaves.Once these were in place I fussy cut the lovely gal including the landlocked areas cut with a craft knife.Just don’t scrutinise my knife skills – lack of them…lol 😀 I popped her up on some foam pads for extra dimension.

At Craft Your Passion this week the challenge is Frame It!We have the fabulous Inky Impressions as our sponsor too.Head on over to check how to play and win.Don’t forget to take a look at the DT inspiration, they’ve done a wonderful job.

Meet the sweet Birthday Sandy by Inky Impressions. She’s been coloured up with Copic Ciao Markers and fussy cut so she can perch on the edge of the frame 🙂 The banners, balloons kind of encircle her too.I made a tent fold card as I haven’t done one for a while.I cut the aperture with a Go Kreate die and also used them to make the frame.I placed the patterned paper inside as it creates a nice background for her.The paper on the front gives the feel of a Birthday tea – full of treats!Once I’d finished making this card I realised the only real embellishment that’s been added is the baker’s twine!I was tempted to rummage through my stash for something else but then thought,no I like it as it is 🙂 Hope you do too?

Gift of the Gab :)

jsldt5thapril

It’s the beginning of a another new challenge at Just Some Lines. This month we’re looking forward to seeing your Think Spring creations. To play along you need to use a Just Some Lines image to enter and you could win a digi if you’re picked as part of the Top 3 🙂

Here’s the beautiful Gab – Just Gab by Just Some Lines .Doesn’t she look like she’s enjoying Spring?!  I thought I’d brush up (pun intended!) on my watercolouring skills – or lack of them 😉 The purpose of the exercise was supposed to be practising with Distress Inks but as I pulled the boxes out the cupboard I found my AquaMarkers. To think I’d actually forgotten I had them!So out they came to play. The beauty of these is when it came to the fine detail I just used the pens to fill it in.No worrying about going over the lines or bleeding into what’s already painted.I did actually blend out a little on her headband and ribbons with out having to change to a smaller brush 🙂 Not really sure how it turned out but Gab’s that pretty I’m sure it doesn’t matter 😉 For the card I just layered up these gorgeous papers that I try not use too much, cutting and embossing a frame  for her,and adding some piercing details to the papers. The sentiment on the stamped and die cut button seemed pretty apt 🙂 Some baker’s twine and buttons have been used to decorate.

‘Fairy’ Good Luck to You

jsldt29thmarch 001

It’s the final week of the month long St.Patrick’s Day/Good Luck challenge at Just Some Lines.Well, that’s another month over!To play along you need to use a Just Some Lines image to enter and you could win a digi if you’re picked as part of the Top 3 🙂

I’ve taken the adorable Fairy – Bring Home Luck by Just Some Lines  and tried a new technique – well new to me…LOL  After colouring the fairy’s skin and hair I decided I wanted a softer look for her clothing to suit the background papers more.I’ve seen Nikky Hall of Polkadoodles fame use a Mix’It Palette and a Graph’It Blender, with Brush Nib attached,to pick up colour to give a watercolour effect on Create and Craft TV.Now,I don’t have the pallette so had to improvise on that part but I do have the pen equipped with the nib 😛 I’m quite pleased for a first attempt and onto my usual smooth marker colouring card too!For her hair behind her wings I had already use a pale colour and blended it out and for a see through look I ‘painted’ over the top in the chosen wing colour.Personally I think the layering has worked well. After colouring the clover it just looked too dark and overpowering so I just grabbed the Blender again and used it this time to ‘bleach’ out the colour. So she wasn’t floating in a sky of nothingness I drew a very pale blue/grey line around her and the clover then took the Blender and utilised it to soften the edges.Such a versatile and useful tool!To make her fairydust trail nice and sparkly I dotted it with a Graph’It Shake Glitter Gold Marker.I just had to use my recently acquired large corner rounder, especially as it took an age to find one, along with this pretty Tonic Studios border. The sentiment is a freebie from Netty’s Cards (thanks Annette) and the Good Luck has been colour tinted by a Graph’It Marker. Some baker’s twine has been tied to the border.I made some buttons from a sheet of this delightful paper and and an epoxy button sticker, trimmed with scissors.A little wooden butterfly button has been added alongside these and for an extra touch his spots have been dabbed with the Graph’It Shake Glitter Gold Marker 🙂

Sew Young!

**Please Scroll down if you’re looking for my other card**

At Craft Your Passion this week the challenge is Birthday Bonanza! We have the fabulous Heather Ellis as our sponsor too.Head on over to check how to play and win.Don’t forget to take a look at the DT inspiration, they’ve done a wonderful job.

I’ve decided to try and take a different approach with my card making recently.Rather than the usual patterned paper matted and layered onto coordinating card for the background etc…Soooo what’s the first thing I do here?Mat a piece of patterned paper onto the card blank :s Still at least I took the time to hand stitch with some baker’s twine. And then I did  do something unusual, well for me at least 😉 This lil’ cutie is Pure Innocence 013 by Heather Ellis and you can find her by scrolling down the page a little.Heather also has a bit of a sale going on and some of her delightful images are as little as 50p!Anyways she’s been coloured with Graph’It Markers and is wearing a paper pieced dress. This has also been given some depth with a Graph’It Marker. Now for the diverse part…I’ve created this frame piece by die cutting an oval to fit the image, embossing  some textured card with some loverly spots.Because my folder wasn’t long enough to cover it entirely I chose to lay it across the other way and centre it.Now what to do about those plain ends?Punch ’em!Now what to do about those pesky lines where the folder ended?Pierce ’em!Opted not to stitch them as well…gives a cleaner look. Then I positioned it over the top and adhered it using thin (1mm) foam tape. The little banners poking out the side were cut from another sheet of paper from the same pack.To finish I took an Epiphany Craft Epoxy Self-Adhesive Button and lay it over a yet another piece of paper from the same  collection. No prizes for guessing it had buttons printed all over it!As I’m too tight wise and frugal to part with 20 quid (!) for a matching punch I just made sure it stuck down well and trimmed round with some decoupage scissors, followed by a pokey tool to make the holes 🙂

cypdt10thmar 002

He’s  The Boy & The Dog 003.The colouring is with Graph’It Markers and altho’ it doesn’t show up the puddle has a coating of  3D Crystal Lacquer.I’ve also sponged a little ink around to take the witness off the background. This time I cut the card blank down them made the topper fit the length of the original size of the card. I kind of used the same principle  with the embossing folder and aperture ‘cept this folder covered the whole area.I added two handcut banners to the base.Once I’d inked the edges for  extra definition they were attached and I ran down the side with an EK Success Piercing Bug in a wobbly fashion then cross stitched to compliment the pattern in the paper.I die cut a couple of clouds and inked their bottoms….careful!…lol… XD A sentiment was cut from another piece of paper (as in the above card). Some of the edges were distressed and I added piercing to the scalloped edge 🙂

Pearly & girly

cypdt17thfeb 001

At Craft Your Passion this week the challenge is Girly Girl.We have the fabulous Crafty Sentiments as our sponsor too.Head on over to check how to play and win.Don’t forget to take a look at the DT inspiration, they’ve done a wonderful job.

I’ve coloured up the gorgeous Harriet – In the Background by Crafty Sentiments with Copic Ciao Markers, including the Blender to make a hazy sky.I chose some pretty pink pearly card to go with her. This colour is also found in the background papers and as the floral one is particularly bright I thought it would make a nice contrast.Went to town a bit (well for me!) adding lots of punched and die cut elements as well as lots of embellishments. These include a piece of cheesecloth,a doily (cut in half then doubled up as the paper glared thru’),lots of different sized pearls and a couple of pearly buttons threaded with baker’s twine.I had planned to use and made up a pearl topped pin with a bow tied round it but by the time I’d put everything else in place there wasn’t really a suitable space left for it.Ah,well never mind at least I have something ready for another creation 🙂
