Christmas Kisses

jsldectagch

I’m guesting for the Just Some Lines Facebook Challenge again 🙂 To enter the December Tag It! Challenge you need to create a tag.The other stipulation is that you must use a Just Some Lines image. But with so many beauties in the store it wouldn’t be difficult to choose! My card, along with other wonderful inspiration and extra details on how to enter, can be found on the Just Some Lines Blog too.

This is Sweet Amber – Mistletoe by Just Some Lines. She’s been printed onto kraft card and coloured with Polychromos Pencils. The tag and layers have been created with a Go Kreate die set as the tag dies I have weren’t really big enough but I think this shape works well. The patterned paper is a freebie,The sentiment was stamped and cut with one of my tag die sets.A strip of natural hessian ribbon has been placed behind Amber to give some texture. To keep with the rustic element some jute twine has been threaded through the top of the tag along with some ribbon that has been recycled from last years Christmas cake 🙂

How to Save a (Snowman’s) Life ;)

csdt9thdec 001

The challenge at Crafty Sentiments this week is Christmas!Drop on by to join in the fun and be in with the chance of winning a super prize.Don’t forget to take a look at some fabulous inspiration by the talented DT while you’re there.

Isn’t Sammy – Thank You by Crafty Sentiments just the most adorable snowman you’ve ever seen?!Here’s a little story to go with him.It may explain my post title too,in case you were wondering…

I had so much fun trying to colour this frosty chap in ever so carefully with Copic Ciao and Sketch Markers.Even getting a nice furry effect on the squirrel and some lovely shading on Sammy himself.Well, once finished I stuck him onto the card I’d already prepped and added the sentiment. Then I spotted a blob of red Copic ink  to the right of his eye.Oh no!I’m such a mucky pup 😦 I always seem to get this all over my hands and it’s the worst colour to remove.I pulled out the Blender in the vain hope it would magically disappear.Um,no…instead I was left with a pink smudge.Next course of action was to try and cover it with white gel pen, another good rescue remedy.Nope!Still showed through even after a second coat.Because I use Collall All Purpose it was going to be difficult to take the image off with out damage to the red card underneath as it was almost dry. And,of course,as luck would have it I didn’t have enough left to cut another mat.So I laid it down, walked away and quietly thought about it for a few days.I suddenly remembered I had some gesso…probably thick enough to cover all the mess and add texture into the bargain! Now what if I added some mica powder for some snowy glisten?Perfect! How to add the shading back in without risking damaging my pens?Pearlescent watercolour paint – but not too wet…

Considering how much I messed this up I think I did a pretty good salvage job :

004

Over at the Crafty Sentiments Designs Inspirational Blog there is a special Advent Calendar to help you count down to Christmas.Every day there will be some gorgeous DT creations to get you in the festive mood.I do hope you drop by to take a look 🙂

Here’s my 1st December creation for you.

As soon as I saw the beautiful New Winter Skates  by Crafty Sentiments Designs I knew exactly what I wanted to do with her 🙂 I found this photo glitter dome in a local bargain shop and as luck would have it my little stamped beauty fitted it perfectly 🙂 Love it when a plan falls in place!!She’s been coloured with Copic Ciao Markers and to created some lovely dimension on the trimmings of her clothing I pulled out my Fluffy Stuff. This is an amazing product. To watch it as you heat is just pure magic – but then maybe I’m easily pleased or just need to get out more LOL.Also this is perfect for this project as once set it’s there.Needs to be with the rigorous shaking this will get! Here’s a pic of the back view with some patterned paper backing with a lovely Seasonal greeting :

And finally one with her all shook up :

Hope I’ve managed to capture the magic for you!It was quite some feat juggling everything, being quick with the camera and not getting too much glare off the dome 😉

A Chrismouse Present

cypdt1stdec 001

At Craft Your Passion this week the challenge is Christmas Presents. We have the fabulous Stitchy Bear’s Digi Outlet as our sponsor too.Head on over to check how to play and win.Don’t forget to take a look at the DT inspiration, they’ve done a wonderful job.

Here’s the delightful Merry Chrismouse by Digi Blessings at Stitchy Bear’s Digi Outlet (you get the sentiment with her too!).She’s been coloured with Copic Ciao Markers. You know how you see see something and think ‘I must try that!’ but never quite get round to it.Well…this is one of those moments where I actually did.I’ve wanted to make one of these Diaper Fold Pouches for so long! The only problem I had was that you need double sided paper really and I wanted to use these pretty one sided ones.So I went ahead with some thin light coloured kraft card and layered the design paper over the top.Ideally it would be better to use paper as this was just a little too thick and altho’ manageable was quite hard work. Still I think it turned our OK 🙂
