Cake,me old china?

We have a fabby sketch by Claire and theme of Add Embossing Dry or Heated over at Willow Sketchie Challenge this week. Here’s Claire’s sketch :

You can use either the sketch or theme.Even both! You could be the lucky winner of a voucher to spend at Willow Designs too!Don’t forget to stop by the challenge site and check out my fellow DT’s beautiful creations.A truly inspirational  bunch.

For my card I chose these papers to go with Polly Pickleberry. They remind me so much of blue and white china (hence the the title of my post.Appologies to those who don’t know Cockney Rhyming Slang.China Plate means Mate). The papers are Cool Meadows Paper Collection and the Digital Stamp image is from the Polly Pickleberry CD-rom.Both are available from Willow Designs. After colouring the image with ProMarkers I dabbed over the whole thing with a VersaMark pad and gave it sprinkling of clear embossing powder.I then gave it another layer followed by a top layer of holographic powder.I have to admit I wasn’t sure at first but it has kinda grown on me and will probably do it again.?The buttons started out plain but I did the same to them.Yep,even coloured ’em with ProMarkers. You do have to make sure the holes don’t clog up with powder especially if you want to thread them!

Reddy for cake!

It’s Willow Sketchie time!My turn to host this week too!So here’s my sketch :

The theme is Let Them Eat Cake but any food on your cards is acceptable. With the new style challenges you can go for the sketch, challenge or if you’re feeling adventurous BOTH!Up to you.You could be the lucky winner of a voucher to spend at Willow Designs too!Don’t forget to stop by the challenge site and check out my fellow DT’s beautiful creations.A truly inspirational  bunch.

Beacuase I’m still loving the Crazy Daisy downloadable paper collection I’ve used them along with this delectable Cake (** Note : the sign is blank on the image.I used Word to put the greeting on it**) both from Willow Designs.I coloured the image with ProMarkers and coated the cherry using Glossy Accents and the icing with Crackle Accents. As there seem to be pretty cake cases for your real cakes in the shops at the mo’ I decided to keep with this trend  and paper pieced mine. You can probably tell I rotated the sketch. For the pennant piece I stuck a satin ribbon onto some white card using a double sided adhesive sheet them passed it through my ribbler. That way the ribbon keeps it’s shape.A couple of brads have been added to it.The metal corner, originally silver, was coloured with a paint pen.A stamped greeting completes the card.

Supplies :

Image and Patterned Paper : Cake by Willow Designs,Crazy Daisy downloadable paper collection
Mediums : ProMarkers,Glossy Accents,Crackle Accents, Rhubarb Stalk Memento Dew Drop
Sentiment : From Personal Impressions Mixed Sentiment clear stamp set
Other Paper : Dark red leather effect paper recycled packaging from some string I bought on eBay
Tools : X-cut guillotine,Siesta Lip Pattern Corner Punch,Paper ribbler from The Works,Nestabilities Standard Circles Large and Small,Big Shot

Sentimental Christmas

Sentiment Only is the challenge theme for Craft Your Passion this week.So the focus must be on the sentiment and no other images are allowed. We have the fab Simon Says Stamp! as our sponsor too.Head on over to check how to play and win.Don’t forget to take a look at DT and GDT inspiration, they’ve done a wonderful job!

As we’re well in to March and I haven’t made one Christmas card yet I thought this would give me the ideal opportunity to do so.The sentiment is from Crazibout Stamps but sadly they don’t seem to exist anymore. 😦 I decided on framing the stamped words with a holly wreath and used my new Punch Around the Page Set for the first time.I have to admit I found it fiddly at first to lay the leaves down but soon got the hang of it and can see more of these being made with different papers and ribbons. The berries are Liquid Pearls.I had a lot of fun making this!

Supplies :
Sentiment : Believe in the Miracle of Christmas by Crazibout Stamps (no longer available)
Inks : Memento Dew Drops in Rhubarb Stalk,Desert Sand and Cottage Ivy

A clean sweep

People is the theme set for this week at Digi Doodle Shop Challenges. Please take a look at the challenge blog for details on how to play along and be in the chance to win a $10 Gift Certificate to spend at Digi Doodle Shop.Don’t forget to check out the wonderful DT work while you’re there.

I tried something different, well for me anyway!I’ve coloured this adorable Little Sweeper from Digi Doodle Shop in sepia tones.I have to be honest and I chucked my first attempt in the bin!Oh the shame 😦 I pride myself on NOT throwing stuff away! I tried to colour her skin in just the lighter tones I’d used for her clothing but she ended up looking grey faced so I chose pinkier beige tones and I’m a lot happier with the result 😀 I used a mix of pretty floral paper with a newspaper print one.Altho’ it’s a little difficult to see the bottom strip as I suddenly decided to lay some raffia lace ribbon over it.I layered some die cut flowers and chopped ’em up so they’d add interest to the top of the card.I finished it with some Distress Inked vintage seam binding and another flower topped with a wooden button one, tied with some paper twine.

Sadly this is my last post for Digi Doodle Shop Challenges. Not an easy decision but sometimes you have to make those kind of choices 😦 I started with the team back in October 2010 and I’d like to say thanks to Karen and Ruth for being great DT Leaders,to all the lovely crafters I’ve met through the team and of course Judy and her Mom for creating and providing the gorgeous images. Wishing you all the best for the future 🙂

Don’t forget the DT call is open until 8:00 pm EST tonight! So get in there quick if you’re interested!

Why did the owl…

…sit beside the toadstool?Because there’s not mushroom inside!

Oooh…err…um and on that note I think I’d better move swiftly on to this weeks Willow Sketchie Challenge. We have a fabby sketch by Pauline :

For my card I’ve used images from the Polly Pickleberry CD-rom and  papers from the Crazy Daisy downloadable paper collection both by Willow Designs.I’ve coloured the toadstool and Walter with FlexMarkers.I gave added dimension to the spots by filling them in with white gel pen then shaded them with a FlexMarker. Both have been added to the button embossed panel with foam pads.I love this folder,it’s from the DoCrafts Boofle collection.Had to have it as soon as I saw it!I re-sized the flowers from the paper collection to add as embellishments.

Swinging into Spring easel-y

We want to see your Easel Cards this week at Craft Your Passion. We have The Paper Shelter and Robin’s Nest as our fabby sponsors too!Head on over to check how to play and win.Don’t forget to take a look at DT and GDT inspiration, they’ve done a wonderful job!

For my card I’ve used Spring Swing from The Paper Shelter. You get both a coloured image and an inked (outline) image.I’ve coloured the inked image using ProMarkers.I cut away around the little birdie and pushed his wing and tail up for more dimension, placing a piece of foam tape behind him.The edges have been inked with Distress Ink.First applied with an old make-up brush then depth was added by scrunching up a tissue and rubbing more ink round the edges.I couldn’t be bothered to get my Cut n Dry out and the results look pretty good to me!I decided to design the card to suit the shape of the image.I deliberately cut the top of the ropes off to give more of a natural flow. The pretty Spring papers were a freebie from Cardmaking and Papercraft mag.The flowers only go down the middle of the sheet so I die cut some matching flowers form the edges of the leftover piece. This is the first time I’ve used this die and I have to say I’m impressed how they turned out. Some gingham ribbon ans flower shaped gems complete the card.

I’m really in to making cards with the Spring feeling ATM.The weather was absolutely glorious yesterday and it’s set to continue today – at least! That’s the trouble with the UK  it could always be snowing by the end on the week!!

Supplies :
Image : Spring Swing from The Paper Shelter

Paper & card : DP Kate Knight Spring Fling! freebie pad from Cardmaking and Papercraft magazine,Core’dinations Roy G.Biv cardstock pad

Blue(pickle)berry

There have been a few changes at Willow Sketchie Challlenge. We still have our fabby sketches, like this one provided by Miria :

There’s also a theme to use Ribbon or Twine. But here’s the difference. You can choose to follow the sketch and/or the theme set every week from now on.Of course some things are still the same.Like the super prize of a voucher for one lucky winner to spend at Willow Designs and the fabulous inspiration from the DT.Hop on over to check out the challenge and their work!

Apart from providing the sketch it’s sadly Miria’s last challenge with us.It’s been a joy working with you and sharing your beautiful creations.

Now onto my card.I’ve used an image, coloured with Promarkers, from the Polly Pickleberry CD-rom by Willow Designs only this time I’ve teamed her with one of Sharon’s super new paper collections also available at Willow Designs. This is the Cool Meadows Collection. There is also one called Crazy Daisy. As well as the papers there are also some sentiments and square panels.I’ve used them layered up on my card.As the panels have rounded corners I decided to carry this through the rest of the card. Some pearls and paper twine have been used to complete the card.I’m thinking that in these colours Polly is looking a little like Alice.Particularly in the Disneyfied version.I love both the film and the book and although I’m the daydreamer like Alice I’m mostly akin to the white rabbit – “I’m late!I’m late! For a very important date!”Yep,every single one.

Supplies :
Image : From the Polly Pickleberry CD-rom by Willow Designs
Papers & sentiment : Cool Meadows Collection by Willow Designs
