It’s time to get out all your pretty stuff and go Girly Girl for this week’s challenge at Craft Your Passion. We have the fabulous Lauretta’s Digital Stamps and CoCoDingo as sponsors. For details on how to play and the chance to win some free digi stamps please pay us a visit.Don’t forget to take a look at the DT and GDT’s beautiful work. We’re also always on the look out for GDT’s to join us every month so if you’re interested just add your name to the list.
Here I’ve used the beautiful Rockette from CoCo Dingo.I’ve made her pretty and girly but using different colours/papers she could easily be turned into a great image for a Teens card. She’s been coloured with Promakers.I’ve cut the base card and paper using Grand Nestabilties Dies.I didn’t want to cover up too much of this gorgeous paper so I just mounted her onto some coordinating card cut with my new Nellie’s Multi Frame dies and added a strip that has had the edge cut with a Nellie’s Multi Frame Border die. This has been overlayed with some lace from my stash. The ribbon rose has been created by my own fair hand!None of my glues would adhere the slippery material so I just formed it in my hands, turned it over and stitched the layers together.I’m really gonna have to invest in a hot glue gun.I couldn’t help but fashion some leaves too.All this from someone who can’t sew for a toffee!!

Spots and Stripes is the theme this week at Digi Doodle Shop’s Best .Why not pop along and play? You could win a $10 Gift Certificate to spend at Digi Doodle Shop or even join us as a GDT!Don’t forget to take a look at the beautiful DT creations too!
I’ve used the adorable Tug of War on my card.Just look what they’re doing to that sock!!You can find some more whimsical images like this at Digi Doodle Shop too. They’ve been coloured with Promarkers.I dipped into my precious Persimmon papers again – eeek!Still,I’m a mission this year to try my best to use my heaps of crafty stuff up.I mean what’s the point in gathering all this just to sit and admire it?Er… best be careful or I may talk myself out of it. Actually the plan is to save money so I can indulge in more major purchases like Grand Nestabilities. And so far it’s worked!Back to the card.Just love this blue and terracotta colour scheme.I kept the layout simple and just used corner rounder punches and ribbon to add some interest.I also filled the gap on the top left of the image by placing this rather apt stamped sentiment there.
I’ve actually made this with DS1 in mind.He really wants a puppy.I think it would be good for him as when he was younger he was petrified of dogs and now is just warming to them. But DH says NO!He and I had a close encounter of the canine kind a couple of weeks ago.We were walking to school down a lane, well it’s more of a muddy farmer’s track, and in one of the gardens that backs onto this some Collies had whipped theirselves up into a frenzy over a passing dog.One of them was leaping pretty high up the fence and I remarked “He’ll be over there in a minute.”Well I dropped my other two off at school and DS1,who happened to be poorly came back with me.Just as we approached that garden the dog jumped over the fence. He was just about to take himself for a walk in the adjacent park but when I gingerly went up to him he promptly sat on his bottom.Luckily he was as soft as anything and DS enjoyed stroking him.Fortunately he had a tag and we were able to return him to his owner safely – much to DS 1’s disapointment. He was hoping to keep him!Mind you so was I!!

We’d love to see your Monochromatic creations at AiFactory Challenges this week. You don’t need a AIFactory image to join in but there are some freebies if you’d like one of their images. You have until Wednesday 2nd March 11:59 EST to upload your project. If you’re uploading your project from an online gallery please tag your project with AIF069 so that we can find it easily and leave you a comment. So stop by the challenge site to check out full details.Don’t forget to take a look at the wonderful DT creations while you’re there!

Here I’ve used the image She.Such a gorgeous, feminine image. She’d be pretty versatile too.Depending on the colours you use she would make a beautiful card for any age.I thought I’d try a different colouring medium for as much as I love my Promarkers I just feel there’s a lot more out there that I need to explore. So I printed her onto watercolour paper and coloured her with Distress Inks.If you want to try this NEVER take the colour directly from the pad with your waterbrush or damp paintbrush. You’ll end up diluting the ink and ruining the pad.Instead press, twist and squish (technical term there!) gently onto a smooth shiny surface.I used a Woodware Hot Stuff Craft Mat and picked up the colour with a damp paintbrush. To give a more subtle colour dampen the area first. You can always build layers of colour from there. If you think the shade is too deep you can go back in with a wet paint brush and blot with a tissue/kitchen towel. I’m not really sure what colour you’d call the papers but I stuck mainly with Crushed Olive,Mustard Seed and Scattered Straw.I added a tiny amount of Tea Dye to tone down her hair. The skin is Tattered Rose and of course I had to use Worn Lipstick on her lips!I also used the Crushed Olive on the edges of the papers and dragged it across the originally creamy yellow ribbon to bring it together more.On reflection I’m wishing I’d inked the edges of the flowers.Ah well,we live and learn.Overall I’m quite pleased at my first attempt and although this image is very detailed it was so easy to colour. It was actually a lot of fun!I’ve never grown out of ‘colouring in’ – what a baby!!
I found this bargainous little beauty for 99p in The Works. It’s mini stapler but just look at all those fabby staples. It’s pretty robust too as it went through the ribbon as well as the heavyweight paper.
I also had some fantastic news!!I’m staying on the DT at AiFactory Challenges.Only this time the term is 6 months instead of 3!Whoo hoo!

It’s a bird!It’s a plane!No it’s Super…um…dad!
We’d love to see your Male cards/projects at Craft Your Passion this week.We have the fab Dude Time Doodles as our sponsor and they’re giving away a $10 Gift certificate to spend in their store.Check the challenge blog for full details on how to play and don’t forget to take a look at the wonderful DT and GDT’s work while you’re there!
For my project I’ve chosen to make a wordbook using Henry Hero.Even tho’ I’ve had the Dreams Come True Papercraft Factory CD-rom by Funky Hand since it first came out this is the first time I’ve made one of these. Not sure what Anice & co would make of this. This kind of stuff is a little new to me.It’s going to be for my DH’s Birthday in a few weeks.I know a lot of people usually make this kind of thing for Father’s Day but I thought why wait ’til then?
Here are some more pics including a close up of the image on the cover:
I added Glossy Accents to give him a healthy head of hair and shiny teeth and drew in white gel pen highlights.
I sourced a Dad poem from the net and made a rosette from a squashed beer bottle cap,a Nestie cut piece of card and some ribbon.
I took this photo at Stanwick Lakes when he was showing off to the kids!Thought the sentiment was pretty apt!
One of my favourite snow pics.I know it doesn’t have much to do with the play but the words just popped into my head.
I just had to choose this photo from our holiday last year (they only took their hats off to be snapped). We went on a walk through some beautiful Devonshire countryside which ended with some crab fishing in a secluded bay.Don’t worry we put them all back when we’d finished.Did you know the best bait is bacon?!
I’ve added some extras on the back.I fashioned a pocket on the right. These used up some of the leftovers.
A selection of treats!
I even decorated the backs.I coloured the images with pencil after forgetting that Promarkers bleed through and ruining the first teacup one I made – oooops!!
Hope DH appreciates the work I put into this and likes it!!Hope you like it too.

For my card I’ve used Sewing Machine – Vintage.A great image for anyone you know who loves their needlework.I’ve coloured with Promarkers and blended Distress Inks around the edges to keep with the vintage feel.I’ve gone for a layout based loosely on a quilting idea. All the edges of the patterned papers have been hand pierced and stitched. I didn’t want too much fuss on the image so I just added some detail to the corners.I cobbled together an embellishment using a button threaded with ribbon and some pearl pins.I’m not too good at sewing but I enjoyed making this and I’m quite pleased at my handiwork.I’ve made this card for my SIL as she’s an avid quilter and she produces some beautiful work.I just hope she doesn’t scrutinise my sewing too much.I’m also hoping the layers don’t come unstuck and she sees how messy the backs are!!

At AiFactory Challenges the theme this week is FOOD.You don’t need a AIFactory image to join in but there are some freebies if you’d like one of their images. You have until Wednesday 23rd February 11:59 EST to upload your project. If you’re uploading your project from an online gallery please tag your project with AIF068 so that we can find it easily and leave you a comment. So stop by the challenge site to check out full details.Don’t forget to take a look at the wonderful DT creations while you’re there!
We also have a DT Call going on until 21st February so you still have time to apply.Full details can be found on the challenge blog.

I’ve taken a few elements from the very versatile In the Kitchen Digital Stamp Set and used them to create a recipe card holder.I concocted this design myself. It’s very much like a tent fold card. The finished base measures 8″ x 5″,the covers 6″ x 4″ and the cards inside are some free printables I searched on the net, trimmed down. Here’s a pic of the inside :

I printed the freebie papers and images onto semi gloss photo paper. The images have been coloured with Promarkers and the edges have been sponged with Distress Ink.I found the photo paper a little different to work with and had to dab the ink on rather than use the usual circular motion.I also found for some reason the ink on the blue spotty paper gave more of a mottled finish. But I like it!I’ve hung some of the utensils up and flipped the oven glove image to create a pair.I just couldn’t resist icing the cute cupcake with Liquid Pearls too.I bound it all together using my Cinch.I really need to use this more often but then the same goes for all the masses of craft tools I buy.All I need to do now is copy out some of my fave recipes that I’ve picked up from various sources onto the cards.Oh,and get baking of course 😉

For my card I’ve used Maya Blowing Bubbles. She’s a beautiful and versatile image. This is the first time I’ve coloured a darker skin complexion.I was quite pleased when I’d finished but looking back at the photo I’m not sure if I’ve done that good a job?Anyway,I thought I’d make a card with a Spring feel to it as I’m so fed up with Winter – it’s been too cold a one for me this year!It also gave me the excuse to try out my new Tonic Studios Punch.I picked it up for just £4.99 at a half price sale at my local craft warehouse.A fellow crafty shopper pointed them to me and I’m glad she did. It’s so pretty with the cut-out detail and it punched like a dream.I also got to play with my new doily die too!
Being an avid West Ham fan all his life I’m sure my Grandad would’ve been pleased to see my post title if he were still around.

At Digi Doodle Shop’s Best we have the theme of Nature this week. There’s the chance to win a $10 Gift Certificate to spend at Digi Doodle Shop!!To play along hop on over to the challenge blog for full details and take a look at the beautiful inspiration by the DT.
For my card I’ve used Mother Deer and Fawn .Such a tender moment. They’re printed onto kraft card and have been coloured with water colour pencils.I’ve never tried this before and was a little worried what would happen.Apart from the card buckling a little there weren’t any other problems. It didn’t matter anyway as it laid flat once stuck down. The printer ink didn’t even though this was freshly printed.I played with my new toy,the Grand Calibur, again creating the base using Grand Nestabilities Labels 4.I used Nestabilities Labels 1 to cut out the image and the card it’s mounted onto.I didn’t want to cover the patterned paper up too much as this is from my coverted pack of Persimmon Papers by Papermania.I also thought it would tie in with the other nesties shape.I cut the tab using Labels 1,stamped the greeting then trimmed it down.I added a length of grossgrain ribbon and some die cut flowers, with threaded button centres and leaves to finish.

It’s a Valentine’s theme this week at AiFactory Challenges.Great chance to make any last minute romantic projects for a loved one.You don’t need a AIFactory image to join in but there are some freebies if you’d like one of their images. You have until Wednesday 16thFebruary 11:59 EST to upload your project. If you’re uploading your project from an online gallery please tag your project with AIF067 so that we can find it easily and leave you a comment. So stop by the challenge site to check out full details.Don’t forget to take a look at the wonderful DT creations while you’re there!
We also have a DT Call going on until 21st February so you still have time to apply.Full details can be found on the challenge blog.

For my card I’ve used one of the Love and Romance Digital Stamps.I wanted to keep the childlike charm of the image so I chose these colourful, fun papers and coloured the image with Promarkers, picking out some of the colours from them.I also distressed the edges with wild abandon to recreate how when children are enthusiastic in their work and want to make something with love it often ends a little ragged around the edges. It may not be obvious in the pic but I’ve decoupaged their clothes, mounting them on thin foam tape to add dimension.I was going to add a charm originally but then decided to raid one of the kids old bead sets and found this little beauty.Perfect!

It’s Anything Goes at Craft Your Passion this week.So pop along and play for more details and the chance to win some fabulous prizes!Don’t forget to take a peek at the beautiful DT and our new GDTs for this month’s cards.
We have three great sponsors too – Stamping Dragon Designs,Didge’s Doodles and Pizzazz Aplenty!
For my card I’ve used the cute Mom’s Cupcake from Didge’s Doodles. She is only 13 years old and also the daughter of Shell my fellow DT member at Craft Your Passion.Such a cute cupcake!I’m sure you’ll agree she’s one talented young lady.

*IMPORTANT*
I have to stress this is how it comes.I added the frame and stamped the wording.
Now,I’ve seen some frame stamps with wording that can be inserted into the gap and I was tempted to buy them. Then it hit me – why not create my own frames!I have the tools for the job.A fineliner pen,a ruler and oodles of sentiment stamps. It also means I won’t be restricted to just the size of the stamps,I can customise to fit any image.I marked out and drew the frame then inserted the sentiment in the space. The cupcake case has been coloured with Promarkers. On a second image I coloured the cherry, sprinkles and hearts with Promarkers too.Using a Snow Marker I filled in the area around these.I actually gave it two coats, allowing it to dry inbetween.Once it was fully dry I gave it a blast with my heat gun, making it puff up just like fluffy icing.Once it had cooled I glued some gems into the round sprinkles and applied some Glossy Accents over the cherry and the rest of the decorations on the cake so they didn’t get lost amongst the icing.I mounted it on foam pads but stuck the cherry down flat to give the impression it was nestling in the icing.Yummy!
