Happy to celebrate!

The challenge at Crafty Sentiments this week is Anything Goes.Drop on by to join in the fun and be in with the chance of winning a super prize.Don’t forget to take a look at some fabulous inspiration by the talented DT while you’re there.

Stanley – Happy Days by Crafty Sentiments Designs certainly looks like he has plenty to celebrate! He’s a new release digi stamp too!!A double celebration then 😀 I’ve coloured him up with a number of mediums.Stanley, the bottle and cork have been coloured with Copic Ciao and Sketch Markers.Metallic ProMarkers in Gold and Silver give the label a foiled look.Stardust Pen give the hearts a glittery touch and some extra fizz has been given to the Champagne bubbles with a Graph’It Shake Marker.A few white gel pen highlights  and 3D Crystal Lacquer add shine to the bottle and Stanley’s nose. There…I think that’s it 😉 For the rest of the card I’ve used some patterned paper and wooden wording from paper of a Stampin’ Up prize I won in a draw at Cardmaking and Papercraft magazine’s website.Such a lovely surprise to have that drop through my door! The wooden star buttons and twine I already had in my stash.

I’m looking over a 4 leaf clover

jsldt8thmar 001

It’s the 2nd week of the St.Patrick’s Day/Good Luck challenge at  Just Some Lines. To play along you need to use a Just Some Lines image to enter and you could win a digi if you’re picked as part of the Top 3.As usual there is a freebie on the challenge site if you wish to use it :)

This darling image is Fairy – 4 leaf clover by Just Some Lines. She’s been coloured with Graph’It Markers and her clothing has been paper pieced.A little sparkle has been added to her pixie boots and  wings with a Gold Graph’It Glitter Shake Pen.I didn’t want to lose the softness of the shading on her wings,so just picked out  the detail already there .Here’s a closer look :

jsldt8thmar 002

The only way I can think to describe the card I made to go with her is it’s like a variation on a tent card style. But instead of the crease at the top it’s on the left hand side as normal but there are two concertinaed pieces of card top and bottom to keep from the card opening right up.It looks kind of like a slightly open book.I’m probably not doing a great job describing this,so maybe this pic may explain what I mean a little better :

jsldt8thmarcloseup2 001

You can also see how I suspended the flowers on some invisible nylon thread.I can’t take credit for the design. I saw a sample card like this at a demo I went to.This is just my take on it.It was quite easy to put together but most of all it fun!

Eye’m waiting for Halloween

jsldt5thoct

This month’s challenge at Just Some Lines is Halloween. To play along you need to use a Just Some Lines image to enter and you could win a fantastic digi stamp if you’re picked as part of the Top 3!

I had so much fun making this!!I chose to make a shaped card to go with the rather creepy Waiting – Skeleton by Just Some Lines. He’s been coloured with Copic Ciao Markers then fussy cut so that I could add him to this die cut tombstone card.I always like to cover the front of shaped cards with another die cut panel to hide the folded edge. This gave me the opportunity to have a good, messy play too!!I started by embossing the piece to give it some texture then sanded it to create a pitted, weather worn feel.I wanted to deboss the lettering as if were were really carved into the stone. Now this was a learning curve – but I did it 😀 I cut the letters from some scrap chipboard then stacked them 3 deep, gluing of course 😉 Next came the hardest part of figuring out how to make the perfect sandwich in my Big Shot and astounded myself by getting it right first time!To enhance the effect I ran a ProMarker inside and followed with a black pen where I thought the extra shadowing should be.Onto the lichen next…I wanted this to be pretty realistic but having only Polar White Flower Soft was a bit of a hurdle.Remembering I had some inks tucked away in a drawer I tipped a little Flower Soft into a small pot and dropped some Yellow plus a couple of drops of Butterscotch for a more natural appearance, smooshing it around with my finger to make sure it all got coated.Whilst this was drying I inked round the edges of my tombstone then cut, sanded and inked the ivy.The grass at the bottom is actually the leftover from the ivy trimmed down, sanded, inked etc… I adhered my little skele friend (or should that be fiend?) and using clear drying PVA added my lichen, trying to emulate how it would normally grow. There I’m done!!

And just in case you think it’s a little early to start thing about All Hallow’s Eve here’s a glimpse of what was in my garden the foggy other day just to get you in the mood….

Spooky,eh?When I think of all the money I’ve spent on decorations….lol….

It’s OK there aren’t any spiders visible in these pics….I left those ones out deliberately…. 🙂

Ava Flowery Summer

cypdt19thaug

At Craft Your Passion this week the challenge is Summer Flowers. We have the fabulous Digital Paper Craft as our sponsor too.Head on over to check how to play and win.Don’t forget to take a look at the DT inspiration, they’ve done a wonderful job.

For my card I’ve used the sweet, sweet Ava Girl by Digital Paper Craft and coloured her with a mix of ProMarkers and FlexMarkers. The FlexMarkers were used alone on her skin, hair and shoes.I introduced a couple of ProMarker colours on her dress to get the shading and hues I wanted. The papers were a freebie with Quick Cards Made Easy.It also came with a CD-rom full of coordinating elements.I resized and punched out the sentiment then coated it in 3D Crystal Lacquer.Once this was dry I mounted it onto a tag, threaded with paper twine, from the same CD-rom.This was then bordered with some punched flowers shaped with a ball tool.I like to make leaves to match with the same punch by trimming them down and adding the vein detail with a very fine ball tool.As the image is quite large with a lot of white space I decided to punch the floral border in white to keep in with this and to give an extra lift to the whole card.I dotted some Liquid Pearls into the center of the flowers on the border and the red ones too. Some flat backed pearls were used to embellish the cut out corners.I did also apply some gloss to her shoes too but it doesn’t really show in the main pic so here’s a closer view 🙂

cyp&dscdt22ndapril 001

At Digi Sketch Challenge we have another new challenge and the theme this fortnight is Rain,Rain Go Away!We have the super Crafty Sentiments and Ellephantastic as our sponsors.

It’s the lovely Anne-Marie’s turn to host and here’s her fabby sketch :

You can follow the sketch, theme or even both.Hope you stop by the challenge site and check out my fellow DT’s beautiful creations.A truly inspirational bunch.

As you can see I’ve made two card and both use our sponsors images 🙂

For my top card I’ve used Mia by Crafty Sentiments and coloured her with Copic Ciao Markers and used white gel pen to add highlights.Altho’ she’s not really designed as a rainy day image I’ve applied 3D Crystal Lacquer to her coat to give the appearance of a rain mac and also to her boots to make them look like wellies 😉 I’ve flicked a pale blue Copic Ciao Marker across the background and coated it with more lacquer for instant rain!I chose the papers, that I’ve had an age,to compliment the rainy feeling. All edges have had the Tim Holtz Paper Distresser treatment.A couple of  clouds have been sanded before being placed on the card.To finish the card a clear button has been threaded through some paper twine which has been wrapped around the border piece.

Supplies :

For my second card I’ve used Emily Autumn by Ellephantastic and coloured her with ProMarkers this time, trying to incorporate as many of the new Spring/Summer Limited Edition colours.I’ve also gone for a different look by using pastel backing papers and card.I cut a circle frame to place behind the image from some Nellie’s  Multi Frame Circle Dies.I’ve not used them like this before but I really like it 🙂 I stamped a circular sentiment and added it to another one of the frames. Some acrylic dew drops have been used to embellish.

For my card I’ve used the adorable Monster Balloon Digital Stamp  by 2 Cute Ink and coloured him with ProMarkers. His balloon has given a coating of Glossy Accents.I’ve layered up various papers from the Kars Vector paper pad.I turn to this pad time and time again for male themed cards. You can just pick out that the one behind the monster is glittered too.I chose some green cardstock to coordinate and a few brads to match.Metal embellishments just seem so right on masculine cards 🙂 The sentiment has been made on my Dymo Labelmaker using a plain bold font this time, then cut into banner shapes.Love this little gadget 😀 This card is for my DH from my youngest son.

Lovecats!

jsldt16thfeb 001 copy

We’re so wonderfully, wonderfully, wonderfully, wonderfully pretty….well that’s enough of The Cure 🙂 and so onto my Love ♥ reminder post for Just Some Lines. There’s still plenty of time to play and the freebie is still up if you choose to use it to do so but any Just Some Lines image is fine 🙂

What could be more fitting for a milk carton than a couple of kitties 🙂 Well that’s what I thought when I saw Cat Love 2  by Just Some Lines. After scouring the internet for instructions I happened across one at A Load of Old Pickle but alas I don’t have a Hougie Board.Iwork in ‘old money’ on a Martha Stewart Scoring Board so I then found this one at Robin’s Creative Cottage which also included tips on how to make them in different sizes. So I’ve drawn inspiration from both and rolled it into one.And I managed it first go too! Thanks ladies for 2 great tuts. The box is made from linen effect card and I printed the image onto the same. After colouring them with Polychromos pencils I decided that altho’ it looked OK it wasn’t quite right (maybe it was the texture of the card) so out came the low odour oils thinners to save the day or the image in this case.Couldn’t be bothered to root around for my paper stumps so grabbed some cheapie cotton buds that were to hand. They work quite well on a smaller image like this plus there isn’t that much cotton wool on them to suck up all the thinners. They’re great for blending pastel pencils and detailed areas with chalk too.One thing’s for certain you wouldn’t want them near any part of your body!I layered up some spotty paper onto some red card and added panels on all 4 sides and 1 each side of the top too.I decorated the  binder clip I ‘won’ in a Christmas cracker (hoarding can be good sometimes) with more red card and  a contrasting spotty paper that were tiny scrap pieces.I added some ribbon and wooden buttons threaded with paper twine to finish.I’ve filled it with jelly beans to give to my DH.He’s not one for sweets and chocolate much (what’s wrong with him!!) but he does like his jelly beans… 🙂

Bags of charm :)

jsldt26thjan 001 copy

This fortnight at Just Some Lines the challenge is Add a Charm. From now on only projects made with Just Some Lines images can be entered. But the good news is there will be a freebie image posted on the blog for the duration of the challenge for you to use!Just pop on over to Just Some Lines to find out all the details. While you’re  there don’t forget to get inspired by the DT’s creations.

For my project I’ve used the fabulous Lola by Just Some Lines. She’s been coloured with ProMarkers and has had a pearl added to the flower in her hair along with some Diamond Stickles on the gem on her ring – what else?!I got the idea to make this gift bag from the latest issue of Cardmaking and Papercraft magazine. Not sure if it’s me but I found the instructions difficult to follow and also thought the some of the measurements were wrong.Just as well I had a practice with some scrap paper and there was a template provided,so I took the measurements off that.Worked like a…er…charm!I used some pretty double sided paper from my stash. The chocolate piece on the flap is the reverse side so I made my faux stitching the same colour. The handles are grosgrain ribbon and I’ve embellished it with some pearl brads. The charm I cobbled together from a necklace kindly donated to me by DD1 🙂 I decided to turn it into a handbag charm.I’m thinking of presenting a piece of jewelry to my DD2 for her birthday in this 🙂
