Looking pretty for Autumn

The challenge at Crafty Sentiments this week is Autumn Leaves.Drop on by to join in the fun and be in with the chance of winning a super prize.Don’t forget to take a look at some fabulous inspiration by the talented DT while you’re there.

Molly – Looking Pretty by Crafty Sentiments Designs has been coloured with Spectrum Noir Pencils and then blended out for a softer look.I chose some lovely papers to go with her and the top panel has been embossed.A little faux stitching has been drawn around the edges using a fine liner pen.After adding the die cut border three lengths of jute twine were adhered above it,the ends on the right hand side have been left free.I tied the bow allowing the loose ends to create multiple tails.The panel with the totally adorable Molly lays flat and I die cut a frame then raised it on some foam tape for some dimension.The wooden leaves and toadstool have been colourised around the edges with a Spectrum Noir Pencil then I applied Blending Solution with a paper stump for a more muted effect before being arranged around the frame.

When I saw the beautiful Scarf Lover by The East Wind I just knew I wanted to make a circular shaped card but I also had the idea of adding dimension.I coloured her with Spectrum Noir Pencils,added some 3D Crystal Lacquer to her eyes,lips and badges in her scarf before fussy cutting her.The card base was created by die cutting two Nestie shapes and cutting an aperture in one.To give lift to the top layer I concertinaed two strips of card and adhered them on each side of the back piece,making sure they were parallel.The top piece was carefully lined up then stuck into place.*Tip* I chose to stand the scalloped cricle on two ‘bumps’ for more stability,this also means it free stands without the need for trimming.The patterned backing paper was cut from the same size die as the aperture but the photo angle shows the dimension better so it appears to be smaller.A length of hessian/jute ribbon with a frilled ribbon has been laid across the back.The image was then popped up on foam tape.I layered a couple of paper flowers and added a wooden heart shaped button top.This has been threaded with a scrap piece of the hessian ribbon that fell off the end bit I trimmed.Behind that a couple of pearl headed pins have been safely tucked in with foam tape (which also holds the flower in place).Rather than throw away the off cut of hessian I inserted it at the back.The sentiment has been stamped onto a wooden plaque.I found these on The Works website for a pound and was quite impressed to find twelve in the pack (4 each of 3 different styles) 😀 I if hadn’t have added the wooden embellishments this card could be squashed flat for posting – but this is intended for hand delivery 🙂

Here’s the sweet Quite Time by Crafty Sentiments Designs.She’s been coloured up with Copic Ciao Markers and fussy cut so that she can perch on the ribbon of this shaker card.I’ve been getting into making these lately,varying the way I make the shaker element.This time the shaker is on the card front and you can see the die cut sentiment through the aperture.The pretty paper is a recent magazine freebie.I filled the window with some sequins and beads I had lying around in my stash.A few got stuck once I’d given it a shake so let them stay where they were for the photo 😉

My goodness,isn’t Fall Pup by A Day For Daisies just adorable 😀 He’s been coloured with Crafter’s Companion Spectrum Noir Pencils onto Desert Storm card.Love how these look on this cardstock!The blue hint of sky around the pup has been softened with Blending  Solution and a paper stump.Gone for a CAS look,with stitched die cuts and hand cut banners,to allow the image to shine 🙂 The wording has been  die cut using  paper from the same collection to tie it in.I was going to leave it at that but decided to add the paper twine threaded button at the last minute as I couldn’t resist 😉

The first thing that came to mind for the sweet A Good Book by Crafty Sentiments Designs was a corner bookmark.Not made one in a while – and they’re easy as well a fun!She’s been coloured up with Copic Ciao Markers and then fussy cut.I actually HATE cutting out but I do it so much.Nah!Still don’t like it 😛 The one thing I DO like is these pretty papers,tho’ 🙂 Being double sided and more like a cardstock weight they were perfect for this project 😀 Found some pretty ribbon and gems in my stash to coordinate.Love it when it all comes together 🙂
