Purple and green Manga Girl

At Secret Crafter Saturday Challenge a colour challenge had been set. There was a picture to use for your inspiration:

I used a Sugar Nellie Manga Girl stamp and coloured her with Promarkers and gave her some white gel pen hightlights.I then cut her out using a Scalloped Oval Nestabilities die and a technique I’d not tried before to get her legs to dangle off the edge. The papers are from Making Memories and the card is Papermania Textured.I cut some Circle Nestabilities shapes and a Sizzix flower. The edges have been distressed.I would like to point out that the card and the ribbon and dress show more blue in the photo but,as they say,IRL it is more of a match to the papers.

Three Little Maids

Over at Passion for ProMarkers  this weeks challenge is the theme  ‘Girls,Girls,Girls’.So I decided to take it literally.

These are the pens I used:

I made a waterslide card featuring  Sharon Armstrong’s Oriental Delight download from Willow Designs.I found the instructions for making the waterslide to fit a 5 x 7 card here .Apart from ProMarkers I used white gel pen to add highlights to the hair. The ovals are cut from Nestabilities. The patterned paper is My Minds Eye and was a free gift with Cardmaking and Papercraft magazine. All card is Papermania Textured and I used a Lip Pattern punch on the corners.I attached some Prima flowers with brads which also hold the bar of the slider part in place.I  punched a hole and fixed the eyelet with my Crop-o-Dile,threaded length of ribbon through to act as a pull  for the moving part.

Here are some more pictures showing the rest of the toppers:

That Spring feeling

DT member Lauren of Let’s Get Stamping at Craftbubble set the theme of  ‘Roll on Spring’,mainly because everyone had had enough of the icy, dreary, dismal weather. This is the sketch to work from:

The colours are perhaps a little too bright but I’ve wanted to let Willow take a stroll along this toadstool lined path for ages. The image,Picking Flowers from Willow Designs, has been coloured with Promarkers. The papers are K & Co  and mounted onto Papermania Textured Card.I’ve used a Lip pattern punch on all corners.I’ve taken a few liberties with the elements to allow for the sun,cut from an Inverted Circle Nestabilities die,to rise and shine above Willow.I tied the flower button onto the deep turquoise one with some of   that ribbon they sew into clothes to stop them falling of the hanger.

Whilst I had my stash strewn around the room I decided to make a second card:

The image from the Basic Grey Wisteria Dragonfly set has been stamped in a mixture of Lu Lu Lavendar and Grape Jelly Memento inks and went over the top of it with a clear Copic Spica pen.The inks have also been applied around the edge  of the Scalloped Oval  Nestabilities die cut.Once again the papers are K & Co and the card is Papermania Textured. The centre strip has been embossed with the Divine Swirls Cuttlebug folder and lightly sanded.I’ve used E K Success Medium Corner Rounder and Woodware Inverted Corner punches.I also created the tab using them and stamped the sentimentfrom the set onto it,inked the edges and attached it with a couple of brads.

This is also my entry for the Lavendar Challenge at E.C.P.Fingers crossed it’s  purpley enough!

Beautiful music

The theme set at Secret Crafter Saturday Challenge was ‘Musical’.Anything music related.Image, papers or embellishments.

I don’t have any music themed stamps so I used this free download music sheet from Craft Stamper magazine’s website.I crumpled it up,ripped the edges and sponged Tea Dye Distress Ink over it.The image is from a set of four Art Nouveau ladies I bought from an eBay seller. She has been coloured with Promarkers. To give an aged appearance I have distressed the edges with the Tim Holtz tool and used the same ink to discolour the white card. Both pieces are matted onto Papermania Textured Card which have also had the same distress treatment. The background paper is K & Co and has been layered onto some more Textured card which have had a Seagull corner punch used on them.I wrapped and twisted some ribbon around the music sheet and tied a bow, adding a key as a cheeky reference to music. The sentiment is from Hero Arts Anytime Messages clear set.The corners have been adorned with pearls.

Blue and white china

The challenge over at Stamp Something was blue and white.

Eeeek!I don’t know why I always panic when it comes to these type of challenges. Is it because amongst my copious amounts of paper I never have anything suitable?Or maybe it’s because when I normally make cards I like to fling my entire stash around the bedroom and sort it out from there?

I kept it quite simple with this one.An easel card using a Sugar Nellie stamp. She’s been coloured with Promarkers. It doesn’t show but I used a clear glaze pen over the teapot, cup and even the stream of tea.The edges have been sponged with Weathered Wood Distress ink.Pretty K & Co paper,a couple of punched borders, some fab grosgrain ribbon and layered Prima flowers with a brad in the centre. The sentiment from Personal Impressions has also been coloured with Promarkers with glaze pen over the hearts and the same ink applied around the edges.I’ve also distressed the edges with the Tim Holtz tool.

It’s about time…

…this little cutie saw ink again.Like so many of my stamps I buy them because I love them and never really make full use of them.

I’ve made this to enter in the C.R.A.F.T. sketch challenge:

I’ve coloured Smookie Pot with a mix of Promarkers and Copic  Atyou Spica pens. The papers are a free download from Funky Hand. The tan and lime green card is Papermania Textured and teams with the papers well.Circles are cut with Nestabilities. The floral element has been created using my new Sizzix Elegance Decorative Strip and some flowers punched from a ribbon strip from the element sheet from the download.Tiny buttons have been added to the centres. The greeting, which I trimmed down, and ribbon are also from the same download sheet.I used a ribbon brad for the element on the sketch. It doesn’t show but I did use the clear Spica on the flowers on the paper circle and on the words on the sentiment.

Throwing a Wobbler!

Alright. Not quite. How could you over something so cute?

I saw these on QVC just before Christmas and managed to persuade my DH to buy them for a pressie.I was lucky he was feeling guilty because I asked him for a couple of items in the Create & Craft sale and he said,”Haven’t you got enough stuff already?” They really don’t understand do they?

Well a few days later he told me to order the things I liked as he was only joking. The trouble was they had sold out and I was upset. So I ended up with these little beauties :

Two stamp sets and a matching paper pad.

I did actually make this a while back and I’m a bit out of synch with my posts because I didn’t want use the computer too much over Christmas.I also set myself the task of joining in with more blog challenges this year and I needed to post and link them before the deadlines.

This quite a simple(s!) card.Sorry couldn’t resist the Compare the Meerkat reference. It was made for a past Sketch Challenge at Craftbubble set by GD Wynneth. The twist was ‘Stars and Stripes’.

How lucky this stamp showed up in time to play!

He’s been coloured with Promarkers then matted onto some Papermania Textured card that co-ordinates beautifully with the patterned paper.I only managed to use a small amount too and that has stars and some faint stripes as well.I love trying to eke supplies out where I can.The shapes are cut using Nestabilities Labels 3 that I found on sale.Embellished with some star and circle brads.

New Baby

This card I made for my niece who has just had her first baby!Such an exciting time for everyone!

I then suddenly realised that makes me a Great Aunty.Hmmm… now that makes me feel old.

I used a sketch, created by newly recruited DT member Rosie, from the Let’s Get Stamping Sketchie Challenge at Craftbubble:

There was a twist too.Rosie rather cheekily set the theme of ‘Knickers In a Twist’! (cheekily … geddit)You could interpret this as anything to do with the fabrics, the patterns, trimmings, colours, saucy ones or even Bridget Jones style ones!

This is also an entry for By The Cute And Girly where the challenge is ‘New’.

I opted for nice, girly, frilly ones. And after all nappies are our first knickers aren’t they?So I chose this pretty K & Co paper and decided to take it from there.I didn’t have a baby stamp as this is not an occasion I usually make cards for.I didn’t want to go to the expense of something I wouldn’t use very often nor did I have the time to wait for it to turn up in the post so I managed to find this little cutie pie at the DigiStamp Boutique.I coloured her with Promarkers then punched the bottom with a Film Strip punch and threaded the ribbon through.I adhered two lengths of lace to the papers then created two ribbon ruffles by stitching along one edge of the ribbon and drew it along shaping them as I went (not bad for someone who can’t sew). The ribbon is from a birthday cake and the bow on the thinner piece was already tied.I placed some threaded pearly buttons in the centres. The sentiment was computer generated. The pink card is from my stash.

A stitch in time …

… well actually the less said about sewing the better as far as I’m concerned.I just can’t do it!But I do know some people that do so one of them will  receive this card.

This is my entry for the Cool Aqua and Cocoa colour Challenge at Passion for ProMarkers.

These are the pens Iused:

I’ve had this Sugar Nellie  image for ages but this is the first time it’s been used.I stamped it in Rich Cocoa Memento to tone in with the colour scheme then coloured it with the pens mainly sticking to the two challenge colours.Because I didn’t like the whiteness of the card I dabbed some Cool Aqua onto an acrylic block and picked up the colour with the Blender using the chisel end on both pens. The faux label, stamped with a sentiment from Hero Arts Anytime Messages has been treated in the same way.I did actually stitch the ‘label’ for real (badly) but it isn’t sewn on to the image .It just gives the impression that it is – I’m not that  clever! The papers are K & Co and I hand cut the scallops following the pattern on the paper on the brown strip. The cards used for mounting are Papermania Textured and Core’dinations So Mod.The Prima flowers have a button from my Bag- O -Buttons by Autumn Leaves with some thread tied and knotted before fraying the ends.I just love them so much as you get so many and there are some really unusual  and pretty ones.Well I don’t like use them too often – it’s quite a wrench to give them away.I’m sure the recipient will never know how privileged they are!!

Birds Mellow Coffee … with Cream

I don’t know if anyone else remembers this or if it still exists?

This is a bit of a last minute entry for Die Cut Dreams Challenge with the theme Coffee and Cream. You had to use the colour combo, the drink or both. The only stamps I had were more tea than coffee orientated and I really wanted to get some ink on this little birdie from the Basic Grey Bitsy June Bug Bird Trio plus I needed something that didn’t require too much colouring.I’ ve used some Promarkers in creamy brown shades and the edge of the Nestabilities Scallop has had Desert Sand and Rich Cocoa Memento ink applied using a make-up sponge. The sentiment by Imaginisce has also had the same treatment. The gorgeous background papers are more designs by Summer Driggs. They are Brown Damask Paper and Brown Dots Paper from the Believe kit and they have also been antiqued with the Desert Sand ink.The brown card is Papermania Textured card. The cream card has been embossed with the Swiss Dots Cuttlebug folder and inked too.I’ve also used my new E K Success Dotted Wave punch and some buttons with waxed cord threaded and knotted.
