The challenge at Crafty Sentiments this week is Let’s Get Sentimental.Drop on by to join in the fun and be in with the chance of winning a super prize.Don’t forget to take a look at some fabulous inspiration by the talented DT while you’re there.

I’ve coloured up the super sweet I Love Flowers by Crafty Sentiments Designs  with Copic Ciao ans Sketch Markers.I dug out these fabulous papers and lots of dies along with some distressing for extra detail. The tag sentiment I stamped out and hand cut.Flat backed pearls, frilled ribbon and a little jute twine have been added to embellish.I thought this darling image would be perfect for a Mother’s Day card for my M-I-L (We celebrate in March in the UK,so I was being good and getting ahead!).But I could see this little beauty being used for so many more occasions 🙂

The challenge at Crafty Sentiments this week is Mother’s Day.Drop on by to join in the fun and be in with the chance of winning a super prize.Don’t forget to take a look at some fabulous inspiration by the talented DT while you’re there.

As soon as I saw the delightful Butterfly Friends by Crafty Sentiments Designs I knew I wanted to make something special with her (or at least I hope that’s what I’ve managed to do?!).I found this fantastic tutorial on how to make a Cupcake Gift Purse/Box on From My Craft Room and another to make a Faux Cupcake as a little gift to go inside :

csdt12thmay 002

The instructions called for a styrofoam ball or some florists foam but as I didn’t have either to hand I trimmed down a segment from a Cadbury’s Egg ‘n’ Spoon  carton. This also kind of cut the middle man out as in the directions it showed to adhere the flowers in place, holding them with a pin until the glue dried.I just took the pins and after colouring the pearl tops with a Copic Marker stuck the flowers where I wanted them, filling any gaps with leaves. As this is glued into the case and it won’t be handled by small children I’m sure nobody will get hurt 😉 I have a big pot of these pins so it’s not like I’m going to miss any 😛 I also took one and added a metal butterfly spacer bead.

I coloured up Butterfly Friends with Copic Ciao and Sketch Markers, trying to capture a furry feel, before fussy cutting and positioning her on the front. This was a lot of fun to make and altho’ it looked a little daunting it really wasn’t that difficult 😀

Sunshine and Flowers

**Please click on the pic for a clearer view. For some reason they always look a little blurry on the blog page 😦  **

Well,we’re into another week of the month long Flowers challenge at Just Some Lines. To play along you need to use a Just Some Lines image to enter and you could win a digi if you’re picked as part of the Top 3 🙂

Here’s the adorable Emo Basket by Just Some Lines who just also happens to be this month’s freebie. You can find her here. She’s been coloured up with Graph’It Markers in warm, sunny hues.Looking at the weather we’ve had this week that was just wishful thinking!!The papers are some I’ve had for longer than I care to remember and I’m totally on a mission to use my vast stacks of paper up – even tho’ there is great temptation out there and I’m finding it difficult to resist 😉 The only piece of yellow ribbon (not a colour I use very often) in my stash was too acid a shade. So I changed the cream one I found by first going over in Lemon 1130 then Cream 1210 to tone it down.A pretty good match for the cardstock don’tcha think?I punched out some flowers and gave them blingy centres 🙂 The sentiment is a freebie stamp and I just love this font 😀 Let’s hope this brings on the sunshine!!

Supplies :

Image : Emo Basket by Just Some Lines
Sentiment : Magazine freebie
Mediums : Graph’It Markers,Jet Black Archival Ink

This is the beautiful New Spring by BB Kakes available at Stitchy Bear’s Digi Outlet. She was a delight to colour up with Copic Ciao and Sketch Markers 🙂 For a more detailed finish to her eggshell I gave it a coating of Rock Candy Distress Crackle Paint. Here’s a closer look :

cypdt14thaprilcloseup

I chose some vintage style paper to go with her along with some muted pastel toned Core’dinations cardstock. These have all been cut out with Grand Nestabilities to create an oval easel card. The edges have been distressed and sanded.A length of vintage seam binding has been added under the stamped sentiment, die cut with some Nellie’s Multi Frame Dies. Some punched daisies, with pearl centres, and leaves decorate the top left part of the card.

Bearly a butterfly

jsldt22ndfeb

So it’s the last week of the month long Love & Hearts challenge at Just Some Lines.Well, that’s another month over!To play along you need to use a Just Some Lines image to enter and you could win a digi if you’re picked as part of the Top 3.

I’ve taken this sweet Butterfly Bear by Just Some Lines and coloured her with soft pastel pencils, blended out for a softer appearance.I remembered I had this heart paper buried in my stash and just had to dig it out to use with her 🙂 I drew on some faux stitching around the edges.I punched a border down one side of the vertical strip and used some dies to cut out the bear and stamped sentiment.A couple of adhesive gems cover the holes, where you would normally place a brad,on the sentiment piece to give a prettier look. The flower has been stamped onto more of the patterned paper and cut out.A heart shaped button has been adhered to the centre to cover the round one that’s on the image and a couple of wooden leaves have been placed either side as a finishing touch. This was a last minute decision but I like it 🙂

Supplies :

Pin-k!

jsldt23rdnov

This is the last week of the 3 or More Embellishments challenge at Just Some Lines.Eeek! And a reminder that Christmas is creeping ever closer!”To play along you need to use a Just Some Lines image to enter and you could win a fantastic digi stamp if you’re picked as part of the Top 3!

So I thought I’d have another go at using my Graph’It Markers to colour the sweet Em – Thank You String by Just Some Lines.Think I need some more skin tones tho’ 😉 A few white gel pen highlights have been added too.I chose some pretty First Edition papers to accompany her along with this lovely cardstock.I made a curved panel with a Spellbinders die and layered some die cut scalloped ovals on top before fussy cutting this gorgeous gal and adding her to the mix.The ribbon is some that was wrapped around a towel bale and I,being the ‘it-might-come-in-handy-one-day’ hoarder that I am,found it to be a perfect match to the pink card 🙂 It always seems no matter how much ribbon I buy it’s the little bits and pieces I collect that do the trick every time!I dug out some paper twine and tied a flower charm to that.To compliment the colours on Em,and to complete the card,I tucked a couple of pins under the bottom of the vertical piece.

Supplies :

For my card I’ve use the gorgeous Elly Framed by Dilly Beans and coloured her with Copic Ciao Markers.I managed to scrape together the last of my usable pink papers and card to layer a background for her.Phew!I’ve  added some pretty Shimmer Dome Stickers – love their sparkle 🙂 Along with some recycled ribbon and a leftover piece of Raffia Lace. The rolled roses were made from spiral cutting a 1″ punched circle and I’ve placed a couple of die cut leaves in pink,of course 😉 The sentiment has been stamped onto a tab I’ve created from a trimmed down die cut.So one very pink creation!

For  my card I’ve used the totally sweet Cherry Fairy by A Day For Daisies and coloured her with Copic Ciao and Sketch Markers, adding some gloss to the cherries. The pretty papers were a freebie from Papercraft Inspirations magazine. After adhering  them to the kraft base I hand stitched  along the seams and wrapped some lace around both the  top and bottom edges. The sentiment was stamped onto some self adhesive fabric paper.I love the translucency it gives allowing a glimpse of the papers beneath.I layered up a paper flower,a jute twine threaded chipboard button and a couple of pearl topped pins to create the embellishment in the corner.
