**I’m late posting this as I had no internet yesterday – again!Big thumbs down to Talk Talk 😦 **

For my little friend Acorn Hugs by Sami Stamps I’ve used my Polychromos pencils to colour him up giving him a furry effect and texture to the acorn.Blending solution and a paper stump have been applied to give the cup and background a smoother appearance.White Soufflé pen has been added for the highlights and, although it doesn’t show in the pic,3D Crystal Lacquer coats his eyes, nose and acorn.Quite a simplistic design using dies, paper distresser, jute twine and wooden embellishments along with these fabulous papers in Autumnal hues.

At Craft Your Passion the challenges are Always Anything Goes!We have the fabulous KennyK Stamps as our sponsor too.Head on over to check how to play and win.Don’t forget to take a look at the DT inspiration, they’ve done a wonderful job.

This is the beautiful,if a little daring,Angel Nevaeh by KennyK Stamps. After printing her onto Neenah Desert Storm cardstock and changing her outline to brown in Microsoft Word she was coloured in a mix of Polychromos, for the skintones, and Spectrum Noir Pencils for the rest.A paper stump dipped in Spectrum Noir Blending Solution was used for smoother effect on her skin.I don’t actually dip the stumps directly into the bottle.I have a teeny jam pot with a piece of the sponge part of a kitchen scourer trimmed to fit inside. That way you don’t get too much on the stump nor does it suck up and waste the solution also. The rest was direct pencil blending.Disappointingly I couldn’t find my normal white Gelly Roll pen so had to opt for my Soufflé pen instead.Oh well, at least she is bright eyed and has a Hollywood smile 😉 You may just about be able to pick out the touches of glitter on her coronet of flowers, wings and dotted onto some of the berries on the wreath on the sentiment. It’s a shame the glittered areas on this pretty paper haven’t shown up…A die cut stitched holly strip adorned with sequins and a length of crochet lace have been used to decorate the card.

The challenge at Crafty Sentiments this week is Tag You’re It!Drop on by to join in the fun and be in with the chance of winning a super prize.Don’t forget to take a look at some fabulous inspiration by the talented DT while you’re there.

I’ve used the darling Bringing Gifts by Crafty Sentiments Designs and coloured her up with Copic Ciao and Sketch Markers. For the fur trim on her Santa Suit I’ve added texture with a white Soufflé pen. She’s been cut out with a tag die and some button ribbon from the same collection as the  papers has been looped through. The background paper and ric rac style strips have cut using stitched dies.A die cut sentiment has been placed in the top left hand corner at a jaunty angle with a flat backed pearl ‘dotting’ the ‘i’.To finish the wooden parcel has been coloured using the same ones on the package she is holding.Well, that’s another Christmas card ready for this year 🙂

Sweet Christ-mouse Wishes

Once I spotted the adorable Merry-Christmouse by Deedee’s Digis I just knew I had to make another card for Christmas….2016!He’s been printed onto Neenah Desert Storm card then coloured with Polychromos Pencils and highlighted with a white Soufflé pen. Some Chunky White Stampendous Frantage Embossing Enamel has been melted around the edges. The same treatment has been given to the sentiment which is one of a few also included in the set.The candy cane embellishment started out as a plain wooden one.I applied a coat of Gesso over it then coloured the red stripes in with a permanent marker. What has managed to elude the camera is the added shine of  a couple of layers of clear embossing powder…never mind,I know it’s there 🙂 To complete the rustic feel given by the kraft and checks I tied a little jute button twine into a bow around it.

The most lover-ly scarf around ;)

At Craft Your Passion the challenges are Always Anything Goes!We have the fabulous The East Wind as our sponsor too.Head on over to check how to play and win.Don’t forget to take a look at the DT inspiration, they’ve done a wonderful job.

When I saw the beautiful Scarf Lover by The East Wind I just knew I wanted to make a circular shaped card but I also had the idea of adding dimension.I coloured her with Spectrum Noir Pencils, added some 3D Crystal Lacquer to her eyes, lips and badges in her scarf before fussy cutting her.The card base was created by die cutting two Nestie shapes and cutting an aperture in one.To give lift to the top layer I concertinaed two strips of card and adhered them on each side of the back piece, making sure they were parallel. The top piece was carefully lined up then stuck into place.*Tip* I chose to stand the scalloped cricle on two ‘bumps’ for more stability, this also means it free stands without the need for trimming. The patterned backing paper was cut from the same size die as the aperture but the photo angle shows the dimension better so it appears to be smaller.A length of hessian/jute ribbon with a frilled ribbon has been laid across the back. The image was then popped up on foam tape.I layered a couple of paper flowers and added a wooden heart shaped button top. This has been threaded with a scrap piece of the hessian ribbon that fell off the end bit I trimmed.Behind that a couple of pearl headed pins have been safely tucked in with foam tape (which also holds the flower in place).Rather than throw away the off cut of hessian I inserted it at the back. The sentiment has been stamped onto a wooden plaque.I found these on The Works website for a pound and was quite impressed to find twelve in the pack (4 each of 3 different styles) 😀 I if hadn’t have added the wooden embellishments this card could be squashed flat for posting – but this is intended for hand delivery 🙂

Bling on the music and dance!

** Please click on the pic for a clearer view 🙂 **

The challenge at Crafty Sentiments this week is Bling It On.Drop on by to join in the fun and be in with the chance of winning a super prize.Don’t forget to take a look at some fabulous inspiration by the talented DT while you’re there.

Here’s the pretty Annabel – Let’s Dance by Crafty Sentiments Designs. She’s all coloured up in Copic Ciao and Sketch Markers. For the spots on her dress and highlights in her eyes I’ve swapped my usual Gelly Roll pen for a Soufflé instead to make them stand out more. The easel card has been die cut from some Worn Lipstick Core’dinations and matted with some freebie magazine paper that tones in beautifully.I’ve even applied some of the coordinating Distress Ink around Annabel, leaving her in the Nestie to create the white border to add a little pop 🙂 The tiny gem topped flowers were saved from the punched strips. The freebie stamp set sentiment has also had ink rubbed around the edge whilst still in the die.The ribbon was chosen to bring out the green in the paper.

And now for some exciting news!Tune in to Create and Craft at 1 p.m to see Crafty Sentiments very own Suzette demonstrating some fabulous new stamps!

Here we have the fantastic Rocket Dog -Digi Stamp by  QKR Stampede  reaching for the stars. He’s been coloured with Copic Ciao Markers with dots of silver gel pen on the rivets on both the rocket and his collar. The stars have been coated with Frosted Lace Stickles for some subtle sparkle rather than all out girly glitz. Of course, apart from loving dogs (especially my girl ) they are my favourite make of boots so for me he was the ultimate choice 🙂 Also this will be for my DS2’s Birthday in September.Gotta stay ahead!!Plus he’s pretty enamoured with dogs too – don’t know where he’s got that from 😉 Glad I found these papers. They’re just great for masculine projects and I like the colour palette too. There’s a nifty woodgrain pattern and a couple of florals thrown in as well 🙂 Some die cut stars wound with silver cord and some eyelets to go with the rivet theme have been added to embellish.

Meet the sweet Sunshine Gal by Delicious Doodles. She’s been coloured with Copic Ciao & Sketch Markers.A little white Souffle pen has been added to the ice cream.I did coat the lenses of her sunglasses with 3D Crystal Lacquer but it hasn’t done the courtesy to show up 😦 To compliment her bright colours I dug out these tropical papers from my stash along with some self-adhesive cork.As you can probably see I’ve done a fair amount of tearing here 😉 Including the rolled roses. After punching two sizes of circles I then tore round the spirals and for the leaves are just freehand tearing.Edges have been distressed to keep in with the look.A couple of pearl topped pins and some paper twine complete the card 🙂

Who ‘eight’ all the mints?

cypdt16thdec

At Craft Your Passion this week the challenge is  Christmas ABC (Anything But a Card). We have the fabulous Whimsy Stamps as our sponsors too.Head on over to check how to play and win.Don’t forget to take a look at the DT inspiration, they’ve done a wonderful job.

I decided to make an After Eight dispenser as a gift for  my DS2’s teacher. For those who’ve not heard of them before they are wafer thin dark chocolates that have a gooey mint fondant centre. They were intended as after dinner mints but they’re so yummy I doubt anybody could wait that long!So back to the dispenser…I followed  a tutorial at Splitcoast Stampers for a Tea Bag Dispenser Box as this worked out to be perfect for these too 🙂 All the base card is kraft and the papers are a magazine freebie from last year that I never got round to using. The cute stamp is Santa Emma by C C Designs.I bought her in a sale at least a couple of years ago and used her only once I think. She’s been coloured with Graph’It Markers.I was very lucky in a recent challenge on their blog and won some fabulous goodies – i.e. some pens including a Glitter Shake in Gold 😀  As I only have a fairly small collection of pens these were a very welcome addition:) It was quite an adventure creating the depth and blend I wanted to achieve but I’m quite please how she turned out.I used the Plum as the darker shade but found the Ruby (and only red I own) didn’t,as I suspected, blend too well so I hit upon the idea of using the Magenta. This gave a perfect blend but as this was too pink I went back over with the Ruby to bring the red back.I was impressed that,as unlike some other brands of pens, there was no spattering or seepage with the dark red/pink tones 🙂 The Powder worked beautifully as a highlighting colour. For the bluey/green parts a mix of Dark Cyan,Jasmine and  Fresh mint were used. After colouring the buckle on her belt with regular Graph’It Markers I went over with the Glitter Shake Pen (shame I forgot to take a close up). With some experimentation it was quite rewarding that I could get the kind of results I was looking for with a limited amount of pens 🙂

For the trims on her clothing I opted for a White Sakura Souffle Pen.Normally on cards I would apply FLuffy Stuff or Flower Soft but I wasn’t sure how well it would stand up to the handling this may get.

Here’s a view of how I decorated the top :

At Craft Your Passion this week the challenge is  “We Washi You A Merry Christmas”.We have the fabulous 2 Cute Ink as our sponsor too.Head on over to check how to play and win.Don’t forget to take a look at the DT inspiration, they’ve done a wonderful job.

Here I’ve printed the adorable Gingerbread Girl by 2 Cute Ink directly onto my kraft card base and coloured her with PolyChromos Pencils blended out with low odour oils thinners using paper stumps. The white icing is a Souffle´pen.I added a couple of strips of washi tape down the side and topped it with a die cut flower with this sweet brad through the centre. The sentiment was stamped directly onto the base too.I’m so late making my card this year…this is kind of my signature style for this season.

After finding a few tutorials on how to make you own washi tape I thought I’d like to give it a go.I didn’t have the Scotch Magic Tape they suggested but thought I’d try it with some cheap clear sticky tape (99p for 2 rolls in The Works). It’s quite easy to do.Basically you stick the tape to your chosen patterned papers using a bone folder to eliminate air bubbles (I found it easier to trim it afterwards).Soak in water for approx. 10-20 seconds.Gently rub the paper off the pad of your finger whilst it’s under the water. It’s more about the soaking than the rubbing so if it doesn’t come off easily leave it in the water until it does so you don’t scratch the pattern.BUT of course the hardest part was waiting for it to dry…lol… 😀

This is a great technique as you are not limited design wise and you can match it to coordinate with any of your craft collections.Best of all you get to use your scraps! How many of those leftover strips of paper do we end up with?

This is the result :

For this one I printed out the equally loveable Gingerbread Boy by 2 Cute Ink using the same colouring methods. The washi tape turned out not too bad,eh?Was a bit worried how it would look against the kraft but I think it’s OK 🙂 Maybe the matte tape would give a more authentic look than regular tape however I don’t mind.If you give this a try yourself you MUST remember to use adhesive on the back of the tape strips 😉 This time I finished it off by adding a glittered chipboard piece with a cute gingerbread man brad from the same collection as the papers I used.A different sentiment has been stamped to mix it up a little.
