Have a ‘horse-some’ Birthday!

cypdt31stmar 001

At Craft Your Passion this week the challenge is Shaped Cards or Anything But Square. We have the fabulous Doodle Pantry as our sponsor too.Head on over to check how to play and win.Don’t forget to take a look at the DT inspiration, they’ve done a wonderful job.

Well..I have to admit I own a Grand Calibur, some Grand Nesties and some Go Kreate Half XXL Frames…so why do I grab a square card every time?! Convenience…laziness…perhaps because they’re buried in the cupboard under stacks of other crafty stuff?Hmmm…not really sure :S So I decided to have fun creating a card with the super adorable Charlie Daisy by Doodle Pantry. Not only do you get Charlie himself (in both B/W outline and colour) you get a whole host of goodies including backing papers, sentiments and lots of other elements to print in outline or colour form to use as embellishments or even as the focal point of your card 😀 Firstly I coloured Charlie using Copic Ciao Markers to coordinate with the papers.Next I pulled out my Grand Calibur and Go Kreate dies to cut the base card and a couple of layers.A panel featuring the other patterned paper has been set askew. As I wanted some texture I pulled out a piece of this wavy corrugated card and stapled a length of raffia lace to it.To embellish I cut out a few pre-coloured daisies and butterflies, adding dots of 3D Crystal Lacquer to them and also to the butterfly that has landed, rather cheekily,on Charlie’s nose.I printed out the sentiment and to create the ‘lozenge’ shape I took the smaller version of the dies I cut the base from and gave them a quarter turn, then trimmed.I adhered it to the orange die cut piece then cut it down to make sure I got it right!Time for some more staples 🙂 I tend to add these on the wonk so there’s no pressure and disappointment when they’re not where they should be!!

‘Fairy’ Good Luck to You

jsldt29thmarch 001

It’s the final week of the month long St.Patrick’s Day/Good Luck challenge at Just Some Lines.Well, that’s another month over!To play along you need to use a Just Some Lines image to enter and you could win a digi if you’re picked as part of the Top 3 🙂

I’ve taken the adorable Fairy – Bring Home Luck by Just Some Lines  and tried a new technique – well new to me…LOL  After colouring the fairy’s skin and hair I decided I wanted a softer look for her clothing to suit the background papers more.I’ve seen Nikky Hall of Polkadoodles fame use a Mix’It Palette and a Graph’It Blender, with Brush Nib attached,to pick up colour to give a watercolour effect on Create and Craft TV.Now,I don’t have the pallette so had to improvise on that part but I do have the pen equipped with the nib 😛 I’m quite pleased for a first attempt and onto my usual smooth marker colouring card too!For her hair behind her wings I had already use a pale colour and blended it out and for a see through look I ‘painted’ over the top in the chosen wing colour.Personally I think the layering has worked well. After colouring the clover it just looked too dark and overpowering so I just grabbed the Blender again and used it this time to ‘bleach’ out the colour. So she wasn’t floating in a sky of nothingness I drew a very pale blue/grey line around her and the clover then took the Blender and utilised it to soften the edges.Such a versatile and useful tool!To make her fairydust trail nice and sparkly I dotted it with a Graph’It Shake Glitter Gold Marker.I just had to use my recently acquired large corner rounder, especially as it took an age to find one, along with this pretty Tonic Studios border. The sentiment is a freebie from Netty’s Cards (thanks Annette) and the Good Luck has been colour tinted by a Graph’It Marker. Some baker’s twine has been tied to the border.I made some buttons from a sheet of this delightful paper and and an epoxy button sticker, trimmed with scissors.A little wooden butterfly button has been added alongside these and for an extra touch his spots have been dabbed with the Graph’It Shake Glitter Gold Marker 🙂

This little beauty is Fairy Huntress by Just Some Lines  and she’s been coloured with Copic Ciao Markers. The details on her wings and the bees wings have been picked out with Stickles. For the background I die cut a load of flowers and adhered them in a random fashion, them trimmed around the edges of the card. The sentiment I created on the computer and made into a tab to tuck behind the image. As the flower wasn’t quite the right shade of green that was also coloured with Copics for a more coordinated look.A few gems have been added for some extra sparkle.

Green Panda

cypdt17thmar 001

At Craft Your Passion this week the challenge is Go Green. We have the fabulous Inky Impressions as our sponsor too.Head on over to check how to play and win.Don’t forget to take a look at the DT inspiration, they’ve done a wonderful job.

I’ve coloured the most delightful Lizzie’s Bundle of Joy by Inky Impressions with Copic Ciao Markers.I’ve also added this fabby Birthday Wishes Banner – a great addition 🙂 Apart from the obvious colour choice I dug out a tired looking white fabric flower that I’d saved rather than thrown out…you know ‘just in case’.Well this was the ‘in case’ 🙂 First off as I knew I wasn’t going to use all of it due to the size I cut it in half then got busy with the Copics on this too.I adhered it to the card base and added the die cut card and patterned paper.I shaved this down a little as I didn’t want to cover up too much of the flower.Once all stuck in place I trimmed off all the overhanging pieces around the edges. The flower border covers where the die cuts were cut off and adds some extra detail. This wasn’t quite the right shade of green so out came the Copics once more.Once the banner was in place I slipped in these lovely sparkly flowers 🙂

Pot of Gold!

jsldt15thmar 001

The  St.Patrick’s Day/Good Luck challenge at  Just Some Lines is still ongoing. To play along you need to use a Just Some Lines image to enter and you could win a digi if you’re picked as part of the Top 3.As usual there is a freebie on the challenge site if you wish to use it :)

I’ve coloured up Pat – the dog by Just Some Lines with Copic Ciao Markers and added touches of Gold Graph’It Glitter Shake Pen.I found this neat tutorial here to make this box. This was so simple…but oh boy!I’ve had a stinking cold all week and could I get my head around this – oh,no 😦 It really isn’t that difficult…that’s just me!I added a ‘shamrock’ I made using a heart shaped punch and a brad added to the centre then attached it to the handle for decoration. And having as muzzy head I clean forgot to pick up some choccy gold coins I spotted in a local discount shop that I thought would be perfect for this project…Yep they were from Christmas…BUT chocolate does have long shelf life…well, until it passes through my door …lol 😛 Rather conveniently we happened to have these aptly named biscuit bars knocking around in the cupboard.Mostly because nobody had discovered them!

Here’s a closer view of Pat :

At Craft Your Passion this week the challenge is Birthday Bonanza! We have the fabulous Heather Ellis as our sponsor too.Head on over to check how to play and win.Don’t forget to take a look at the DT inspiration, they’ve done a wonderful job.

I’ve decided to try and take a different approach with my card making recently.Rather than the usual patterned paper matted and layered onto coordinating card for the background etc…Soooo what’s the first thing I do here?Mat a piece of patterned paper onto the card blank :s Still at least I took the time to hand stitch with some baker’s twine. And then I did  do something unusual, well for me at least 😉 This lil’ cutie is Pure Innocence 013 by Heather Ellis and you can find her by scrolling down the page a little.Heather also has a bit of a sale going on and some of her delightful images are as little as 50p!Anyways she’s been coloured with Graph’It Markers and is wearing a paper pieced dress. This has also been given some depth with a Graph’It Marker. Now for the diverse part…I’ve created this frame piece by die cutting an oval to fit the image, embossing  some textured card with some loverly spots.Because my folder wasn’t long enough to cover it entirely I chose to lay it across the other way and centre it.Now what to do about those plain ends?Punch ’em!Now what to do about those pesky lines where the folder ended?Pierce ’em!Opted not to stitch them as well…gives a cleaner look. Then I positioned it over the top and adhered it using thin (1mm) foam tape. The little banners poking out the side were cut from another sheet of paper from the same pack.To finish I took an Epiphany Craft Epoxy Self-Adhesive Button and lay it over a yet another piece of paper from the same  collection. No prizes for guessing it had buttons printed all over it!As I’m too tight wise and frugal to part with 20 quid (!) for a matching punch I just made sure it stuck down well and trimmed round with some decoupage scissors, followed by a pokey tool to make the holes 🙂

cypdt10thmar 002

He’s  The Boy & The Dog 003.The colouring is with Graph’It Markers and altho’ it doesn’t show up the puddle has a coating of  3D Crystal Lacquer.I’ve also sponged a little ink around to take the witness off the background. This time I cut the card blank down them made the topper fit the length of the original size of the card. I kind of used the same principle  with the embossing folder and aperture ‘cept this folder covered the whole area.I added two handcut banners to the base.Once I’d inked the edges for  extra definition they were attached and I ran down the side with an EK Success Piercing Bug in a wobbly fashion then cross stitched to compliment the pattern in the paper.I die cut a couple of clouds and inked their bottoms….careful!…lol… XD A sentiment was cut from another piece of paper (as in the above card). Some of the edges were distressed and I added piercing to the scalloped edge 🙂

I’m looking over a 4 leaf clover

jsldt8thmar 001

It’s the 2nd week of the St.Patrick’s Day/Good Luck challenge at  Just Some Lines. To play along you need to use a Just Some Lines image to enter and you could win a digi if you’re picked as part of the Top 3.As usual there is a freebie on the challenge site if you wish to use it :)

This darling image is Fairy – 4 leaf clover by Just Some Lines. She’s been coloured with Graph’It Markers and her clothing has been paper pieced.A little sparkle has been added to her pixie boots and  wings with a Gold Graph’It Glitter Shake Pen.I didn’t want to lose the softness of the shading on her wings,so just picked out  the detail already there .Here’s a closer look :

jsldt8thmar 002

The only way I can think to describe the card I made to go with her is it’s like a variation on a tent card style. But instead of the crease at the top it’s on the left hand side as normal but there are two concertinaed pieces of card top and bottom to keep from the card opening right up.It looks kind of like a slightly open book.I’m probably not doing a great job describing this,so maybe this pic may explain what I mean a little better :

jsldt8thmarcloseup2 001

You can also see how I suspended the flowers on some invisible nylon thread.I can’t take credit for the design. I saw a sample card like this at a demo I went to.This is just my take on it.It was quite easy to put together but most of all it fun!

Party Poopers!

004

At Craft Your Passion this week the challenge is Birthday Bonanza! We have the fabulous Eureka Stamps and Flourish With A Bling as our sponsors too.Head on over to check how to play and win.Don’t forget to take a look at the DT inspiration, they’ve done a wonderful job.

When it came to choosing an image from Eureka Stamps,oh my gosh,I just had to have Party Poopers! Not only is it a super digi but with that name I really couldn’t pick anything else 😛  They’ve been coloured up with Copic Ciao and Sketch Markers.Probably difficult to tell from the pic but I’ve taken the opportunity to  layer them up to give extra dimension 🙂

Here’s a view to demonstrate :

cypdt3rdmarcloseup 001

I ran the card front through an embossing folder for some texture, created some bunting with the first part of the message and then stamped the rest on the mat behind the image.I made a rosette ‘cos I haven’t done that for a looooong time.Had to add buttons just because I love them ♥

After seeing these being used a lot in cardmaking magazines and no details listed I finally managed to find an extra large corner rounder punch.I’m so 😀 Or does that make me sound 😦 LOL

I had made this card for myself as it’s my Birthday today but as I haven’t used girly papers I think I may give to my hubby as it’s his Birthday next Monday.Luckily I have some matching kraft card to make a box 😉

Fairy-ly Good Luck!

jsldt1stmar 001

Oh my it’s the first challenge of the month at  Just Some Lines! This time we’re looking for your St.Patrick’s Day/Good Luck creations. To play along you need to use a Just Some Lines image to enter and you could win a digi if you’re picked as part of the Top 3.As usual there is a freebie on the challenge site if you wish to use it 🙂

This is the sweet Goodnight Fairy by Just Some Lines and she’s been coloured with Copic Ciao and Sketch Markers.Of course being a fairy she had to have a little sparkle courtesy of a Gold Graph’It Glitter Shake pen on her wings and shoes.I don’t do this very often but when selecting my paper I came across this one that was actually 12 x 12 divided into quarters so I trimmed it down to cover the whole of the card front. All the stitching and hessian circle are printed as part of the paper 🙂 I just added a little crochet lace for texture.I die cut some flowers and added a extra large gem along with a couple of buttons to the centres.I generated the sentiment on the computer then cut it into a banner shape, curving it outward and placing foam tape behind to give it some lift.
