At Craft Your Passion this week the challenge is Well Read.We have the fabulous Melonheadz Illustrating as our sponsors too.Head on over to check how to play and win.Don’t forget to take a look at the DT inspiration, they’ve done a wonderful job.
I’ve made a corner bookmark as I haven’t made one of these in ages.Plus my DS2 has decided to plough his way through his older sister’s Diary of a Wimpy Kid books.I found this cute image at Cre8tive Hands and he’s called Boy Reading.I’ve coloured him with Copic Ciaos before fussy cutting him and adding him to the bookmark.A tutorial for this can be found at Splitcoast Stampers. The only difference I have made is to punch the border at the bottom before cutting it down to make the 4″ square.I’ve added some Bazzill Basics card. The top piece has been embossed with a script folder, the bottom one has had a border punched before adhering a strip of alphabet paper. Some jute twine has been threaded thru’ a wooden button then wrapped around.A leftover piece of the alphabet paper has been used to cover up where the string goes around the back to give a neater finish.
Supplies :

Just a reminder that the Earth Day challenge at Just Some Lines is still open. You could be in the running for a super prize. You need play along with a Just Some Lines image to enter and one random winner will get 4 digi stamps of their choice. It doesn’t stop there tho’ as the Top 3 will get one digi stamp each too! There is a freebie to get you started too or you can choose one from Just Some Lines here.
For my card I’ve used Earth Day Kids by Just Some Lines and coloured it with Copic Ciao and Sketch Markers.I had so much fun colouring this one up – it was just like going back to my childhood. It reminded me so much of a colouring book illustration 🙂 Yeah,I’ve always liked colouring in.I’ve kept it fairly simple to keep the image as the main focus. It’s been teamed with some freebie papers and some kraft card. All edges have been distressed. The raffia lace is actually a couple of snippets lined up to make it appear as a continuous strip.Love this stuff too much to waste it 😉 The sentiment is computer generated.I’ve added a flower cut from the cover of the booklet the papers came in and attached the printed twill with a large brad.
Suppiles :

As you can see I’ve made two card and both use our sponsors images 🙂
For my top card I’ve used Mia by Crafty Sentiments and coloured her with Copic Ciao Markers and used white gel pen to add highlights.Altho’ she’s not really designed as a rainy day image I’ve applied 3D Crystal Lacquer to her coat to give the appearance of a rain mac and also to her boots to make them look like wellies 😉 I’ve flicked a pale blue Copic Ciao Marker across the background and coated it with more lacquer for instant rain!I chose the papers, that I’ve had an age,to compliment the rainy feeling. All edges have had the Tim Holtz Paper Distresser treatment.A couple of clouds have been sanded before being placed on the card.To finish the card a clear button has been threaded through some paper twine which has been wrapped around the border piece.
Supplies :

For my second card I’ve used Emily Autumn by Ellephantastic and coloured her with ProMarkers this time, trying to incorporate as many of the new Spring/Summer Limited Edition colours.I’ve also gone for a different look by using pastel backing papers and card.I cut a circle frame to place behind the image from some Nellie’s Multi Frame Circle Dies.I’ve not used them like this before but I really like it 🙂 I stamped a circular sentiment and added it to another one of the frames. Some acrylic dew drops have been used to embellish.

Just a reminder that the For a Child challenge at Just Some Lines is still open.
For my card I’ve used the totally cool Birthday Penguin by Just Some Lines and coloured him with Copic Ciao Markers. Now for this card I didn’t follow my usual creative process…in fact I had no idea where I was going with it.Sure I’d picked the image, papers and red card but normally I have some idea of a layout in my head. Not this time.Even the kraft base and layers were on a whim.Next I sifted through my large die collection to gain some inspiration.Plus this gave me the chance to use some of my newest and untouched dies 🙂 The arch shape would fit this little chap perfectly and I fancied making some bunting with these little flag shapes.I strung it up with some baker’s twine suspended on some brads to allow it some free movement. The lettering was made with an old die set that I haven’t used for years – literally!!The word ‘birthday’ is part of the sentiment that’s included with the image.I hand cut the fishtail piece running along the bottom of the card and added more brads. So for a card that I had no clue what it was going to end up as I’m pretty pleased how it turned out 🙂

You can follow the sketch, theme or even both.Hope you stop by the challenge site and check out my fellow DT’s beautiful creations.A truly inspirational bunch.
For my card I’ve used one of the images from Social Butterfly Printable Stamp Set by The Cutting Cafe and coloured it digitally to make it a pretty pink. You get so much in these sets – fabulous value for money 🙂 I’ve layered up some beautiful rose patterned paper, pink card and a crisp white embossed piece.Over that I’ve adhered a punched strip with Washi Tape added over the top.I fussy cut the butterfly including the inside of the wings to allow the underneath layers of the card to peek through and to give it some extra delicacy.I shaped it with my fingers for more dimension before attaching it to the card.I’ve arranged some square gems in the corners to balance the whole thing out.
