Paper Piecing is the challenge this week at Craft Your Passion. We have the fab AiFactory and Bunny Zoe as our sponsors!Head on over to check how to play and win.Don’t forget to take a look at DT and GDT inspiration, they’ve done a wonderful job!

For my card I’ve used Love Birds on Branch from AiFactory.I printed onto the cloud paper then coloured the branch ans birds beaks using ProMarkers. The rest has been paper pieced. The base card is made from acetate and I’ve layered various papers from the same pad.Liquid Pearls have been added to the centres of the flowers and the illusion of shine given with a white gel pen. The bird image is mounted on card to give it more stability as I wanted it hang over the side of the card.I’ve played with my Brother hand held label printer again to create the sentiment. Some grossgrain ribbon,a wooden flower button coloured with an ink pad and some twine complete the card.

Don’t forget the clear stamp Sale continues.Only £1,such a bargain.

I wanted to try something new this time and found the instructions for this rather cute Gable Box on Splitcoaststampers. The topper image, flower paper and sweet sentiment are all from the Polly Pickleberry CD-rom by Willow Designs.I added a drizzle of Frosted Lace Stickles to the icing on the cake. The paper has been adhered to a strip of card with a punched border and  I punched out the sentiment and allowed it to hang over the edge. The top of the box is held together with some sisal string.Originally the was two ply but I unraveled it because I like the hairy, unkempt look. I threaded the blue paper twine through the bow before tying the button on.

Supplies :
Image, patterned paper and sentiment : From the Polly Pickleberry CD-rom  from Willow Designs
Medium : Frosted Lace Stickles
Card : Kraft and white from my stash, pink card Core’dinations Roy G. Biv cardstock pad

Side stepping sk8r

I made a 5 x 7 Side Step card using Nick with Skateboard from Mami Doodles. He’s been coloured with FlexMarkers with touches of white gel pen to add highlights.I’ve fussy cut him and placed him over a die cut star, with the white one being embossed. The sentiment has been printed on my Brother P-Touch.When playing around with it I found a rather nifty frame section.I’ve embellished with paper thread and white brads.Unfortunately the right hand side seems a little dull and shadowy in the pic.I think my camera tends to pick the most prominent parts to home in on.Still at least it shows the image off well 😀

Supplies :
Image : Nick with Skateboard by Mami Doodles
Sentiment : Printed on my Brother P-Touch Label Printer
Colouring mediums : FlexMarkers,Sakura White Gelly Roll pen

Day-sy Dreaming

FebSale_Sm

Don’t forget the current 99¢ Digi Deal stamps are only available until March 1st and then they will be gone forever! If see something you like grab it while you still have the chance!

I’ve used Daisy Girl from Digi Doodle Shop for my card and water coloured her with Distress Inks.I decide to make a kick stand card. Here’s how it works :

I used a Tonic Edgers 5 Punch I picked up for £2.99!I lined it up my Border Punch System to create the continuous pattern. The image is cut out with a Nestie. The papers are some more scrummy Ooh La La for Him by Mind’s Eye – LOVE ’em!I even used one of the labels from the die-cut sheet to stamp the sentiment on to :

The flower on the front was made using the instructions from this Paper Flower Tutorial on Whimsical World of Laura Bird’s blog.I did use a 1″ circle punch for the purpose of this card.It was a little fiddly and it probably didn’t help that this a thin cardstock rather than a paper but as long as you get your folds as accurate and sharp as you can then you shouldn’t have too many problems.Much the same for all paper folding really.I added a gem brad to the centre. This was another bargain. The pack was only £1.99!

Supplies :
Image : Daisy Girl from Digi Doodle Shop
Colouring medium : Distress Inks
Sentiment : From a 3 Birds box of clear stamps stamped in Coffee Archival Ink
Papers & card : DP Ooh La La for Him Paper Kit by My Mind’s Eye,Core’dinations Roy G.Biv cardstock pad

Take time to smell the roses

There’s a recipe to follow at Craft Your Passion this week.1 Ribbon or Twine,2 Design Papers and 3 Buttons. We’re sponsored by the fab Delicious Doodles and Simon Says Stamp.Head on over to check how to play and win.Don’t forget to take a look at DT and GDT inspiration, they’ve done a wonderful job!

I’ve tried a new fold, well for me!It’s called a Double Dutch Fold and instructions can be found here. My measurements are slightly different as they were ones given to me by a demonstrator at my local craft warehouse. Here’s the card open :

The image I’ve used is the divine Rosalee by Delicious Doodles and she’s been coloured with FlexMarkers. The papers are by K & Co and I thought they’d be perfect for her.I’ve used the rose one inside too :

I printed out the sentiment on my computer.

I looped the ribbon on the front one end to make it look like leaves and pleated it the other.I adhered a kraft card rose, which I colour tinted on the edges using pearlescent paint and added a button to,on top.I glued the other buttons to the bottom flaps to act as handles.

Supplies :
Image : Rosalee by Delicious Doodles
Colouring mediums : FlexMarkers,Pearlescent watercolour paint
Sentiment : Made by me!
Papers & card : DP K & Co,kraft  and pearlised textured card from my stash
Tools : Fiskars Euro Personal Paper Trimmer 30cm (for cutting and scoring),Siesta Large Corner Rounder Punch,Nestabilities Standard Oval and Classic Scallop Oval (both large and small),Marianne Designs Flower Fantasy,Big Shot

‘Owl’ love you forever!

After seeing Winnie come out to play Walter has decided he needed to make an appearance too!

The delightful and charming Be my Valentine Walter is from Willow Designs. He’s  been coloured with ProMarkers and to give him a doe eyed look I’ve used Glossy Accents. They’ve also been added to his welly boots and heart.I’ve not made a shaped card in a while so I thought I’d add him to one.I also bought a paper ribbler a while back, put it away, then forgot where I put it and finally made the effort to search for it as I thought these little hand cut banners would be a quirky little touch. They’ve been wrapped with  some baker’s twine and the bottom one has some heart brads that I’ve had foreveeeer attached to it.

Supplies :

A pocket full of posies

Another Thursday, another Willow Sketchie Challenge! This week we have a fabby sketch by Claire :

Don’t forget to stop by the challenge site and check out my fellow DT’s beautiful creations.A truly inspirational  bunch.

You could be the lucky winner of a voucher to spend at Willow Designs too!

As soon as I saw this sketch I knew I had the chance to  incorporate a hidden message.Something I’d never done before and was inspired to do by Sharon Armstrong’s article in issue 101 of Cardmaking and Papercraft magazine:

Us DT girlies are still enjoying playing with the adorable Polly Pickleberry CD-rom from Willow Designs. Here I’ve used one of the digital stamp images coloured with FlexMarkers. The bush she’s watering is from an embellishment sheet, also coloured with FlexMarkers.I drew some water drops and covered them and her wellies with Glossy Accents. Here’s a closer view :

The little blue roses I cut from a backing paper and adhered them on top.The tag is cut in to shape from one of the sentiment sheets and I made a pocket on the back for it to slide in and out of.This was quite easy to do.All I did was cut a piece of card a bit bigger than the tag and add adhesive to three sides, remembering to leave the edge I wanted the tag to fit open. The pretty pink rose paper is also from the CD-rom.I found this gorgeous textured pearlised card in a bargain bundle at my local craft warehouse and used a previously unused embossing folder on the piece behind the image.I added a dark pink metallic eyelet and tied a length of cord through it.I found these cute flower buttons in my stash and threaded them with some floss.

There’s also a SALE  going on at Willow Designs. You know we all love a bargain – so go on grab some!

And just to remind you the DT call is open until 15th February too!Check the challenge blog for details.

‘Owl’ love you with all my heart

Here’s another card made with a new Willow Designs Valentines Digital Stamp. This time it’s the delightful Be My Valentine Winnie making an appearance .

This wasn’t so much a learning curve as a re-learning curve (if there’s such a thing!).Well … the other day some really scrummy Spring 2012 Limited Edition ProMarkers slipped off the shelf and into my basket. Not sure how that happened!I wanted to use these pens on their own and so had to go back to the days when I didn’t have many colours and layered the colours up.It did feel strange not having several shades spread before me but I’m not too displeased with the results – I did achieve what I set out to do. And these pens,of course, will supplement some of the other shades I already own.I chose these lovely freebie papers that came with Simply Cards & Papercraft  magazine (along with a rather ‘tweet’ stamp set) to complement the hues in the image.I’ve used lots of punches too ( I never make the most of my stuff at times),including an extra small corner rounder to give a softer look. The flower is actually created with two layers of punched hearts.I’ve added some pearly embellies to finish.

Supplies :
Image : Be My Valentine Winnie form Willow Designs
Colouring medium : Spring 2012 Limited Edition ProMarkers
Papers & Card : DP Hot Off The Press freebie from Simply Cards & Papercraft  magazine ,textured pearlised pink card from my stash
Tools : X-cut guillotine,Siesta Mini Corner Rounder Punch,Woodware Inverted Corner Punch,EK Success Daisy Chain Edge Punch,Carl Heart Punch,Craft Planet Heart Punch,Nestabilities Large Standard Rectangles and Classic Scalloped Rectangles,Big Shot,Decoupage scissors,Stick It! Hot Glue Gun ( to attach pearl spray)
To Embellish : Pearl spray and pearl flower from my stash

Some challenges this card is for :

Polkadoodles : Show us some Love (With Hearts) – Apart from the heart Winnie’s holding the flower is made using heart punches (hope this isn’t too far out of the box and still counts!)

P-laid back frog

No Design paper is the challenge at Craft Your Passion this week.We also have the fabulous Doodle Pantry,Little Miss Muffet Stamps and Pizzazzaplenty as our sponsors.Head on over to check how to play and win.Don’t forget to take a look at DT and GDT inspiration, they’ve done a wonderful job!

On my card I’ve used Little Frog from Doodle Pantry. This is a great value set.It comes with two different images, uncoloured and coloured. There are two fab backing papers and two sentiments too. This is one of the uncoloured images that I coloured with ProMarkers.I gave him a coating with a clear glaze pen to give him the waxy sheen that tree frogs have and gave him some nice bulbous eyes with Glossy Accents.I’ve two different techniques for the backgrounds. The plaid pattern is drawn onto plain white cardstock using a ruler and ProMarkers.I love the way the colours overlap as the ink is translucent. The other backing is made by passing a piece of Whitewash card through an embossing folder then sanded. This is actually supposed to be a Christmas one but I think it can be used anytime. I dug out some acrylic dew drops to embellish.

Supplies :
Image and sentiment : Little Frog from Doodle Pantry
Colouring mediums : ProMarkers,Sakura Clear Glaze Pen,Glossy Accents
Card : White card Craft Essentials from The Works,Core’dinations Whitewash,Papermania Textured Capsule A4 Colossal Pack
