It seems funny making Christmas cards in the throes of Summer but when you find an image as beautiful as My Gift by Crafty Sentiments Designs it makes you feel the need.Plus the fact it takes time to create each one you really should be prepared!!She’s been coloured with Copic Ciao & Sketch Markers along with a few white gel pen highlights. For the fur on her trims Fluffy Stuff has been used and Polar White Flower Soft, for a different texture, added for snow.I do tend to stick to a basic layout and just mix it up a bit with different papers, card, images and embellishments. It does help with ploughing through with batch making.Designs are also kept simpler these days with the cost of postage!Baker’s Twine and a charm complete the card – I also know these will pass the 5mm mark and not have incur the Large Letter Stamp fee 🙂

A Little Christmas Help

The challenge at Crafty Sentiments this week is the ever popular Anything Goes.Drop on by to join in the fun and be in with the chance of winning a super prize.Don’t forget to take a look at some fabulous inspiration by the talented DT while you’re there.

Isn’t this just the cutest Christmas Helper you could have? She can be found at Crafty Sentiments Designs. She’s been coloured with Copic Ciao and Sketch Markers with, altho’ it doesn’t show too well,a little snow scattered around her feet. The edges have also been ink distressed.I’m desperately trying use use up old Christmas stash rather than buy any more new.So the card is some I bought a few years ago.The back panel has been embossed with a folder. The ribbon, twine and jingle bells are also from my stash…O.K. I have to admit the embossing folder(part of a set)…and the sentiment stamps are new,but these were a half price bargain and there are loads of words.A girl’s gotta be allowed a little new stuff, isn’t she? 😉

Light p-up your Christmas :)

I’m delighted to be chosen as Guest Designer at Lexi’s Creations this fortnight where the theme is Snow.Stop by to check out full details of the challenge and the fab prize on offer.Don’t forget to check out the DT’s fantastic creations.

Here I’ve used the adorable Christmas Lights Scruffles from Fairy Dust Crafts. He was a joy to work with :)Printed straight onto the kraft base and coloured with Copic Ciao Markers plus some white gel pen highlights.Doesn’t show too well but the lights have Glossy Accents on them and the stems of the bulbs have been coloured with silver gel pen. Some fluffy, snowy texture has been given to his hat trims with Flower Soft. The sentiment,a freebie from a magazine from last year, has been stamped at a jaunty angle. For design purposes you understand and not ‘cos I can’t stamp straight…lol…OK believe what you like 😉 A couple of strips of washi tape, die cut pine branches and a few brads have been used to embellish the card.

Supplies :

Aren’t they just the sweetest couple?!You can find Eskimo Kiss at Just Some Lines. So I’ve gone for my Christmas signature style card again.Just to keep them uniform you understand,I mean it’s not like I’ve left it to the last minute or anything 😉 I’ve printed these cuties onto the kraft card base and coloured them with Polychromos Pencils blended out with low odour oils thinners using paper stumps.Their buttons and the snowfall have been given a crisp white look with a gel pen. Some Polar White Flower Soft has been added for some fluffy texture on the trims on their clothing.Couple of strips of washi tape have been adhered down the left edge and a snowflake die cut from some shimmery textured card ,topped with a brad, has been placed on top of that.I got my Dymo Labelmaker out as I haven’t had a play with it for a little while to create the sentiment.I’m going to give this to my DH 🙂

Eye’m waiting for Halloween

jsldt5thoct

This month’s challenge at Just Some Lines is Halloween. To play along you need to use a Just Some Lines image to enter and you could win a fantastic digi stamp if you’re picked as part of the Top 3!

I had so much fun making this!!I chose to make a shaped card to go with the rather creepy Waiting – Skeleton by Just Some Lines. He’s been coloured with Copic Ciao Markers then fussy cut so that I could add him to this die cut tombstone card.I always like to cover the front of shaped cards with another die cut panel to hide the folded edge. This gave me the opportunity to have a good, messy play too!!I started by embossing the piece to give it some texture then sanded it to create a pitted, weather worn feel.I wanted to deboss the lettering as if were were really carved into the stone. Now this was a learning curve – but I did it 😀 I cut the letters from some scrap chipboard then stacked them 3 deep, gluing of course 😉 Next came the hardest part of figuring out how to make the perfect sandwich in my Big Shot and astounded myself by getting it right first time!To enhance the effect I ran a ProMarker inside and followed with a black pen where I thought the extra shadowing should be.Onto the lichen next…I wanted this to be pretty realistic but having only Polar White Flower Soft was a bit of a hurdle.Remembering I had some inks tucked away in a drawer I tipped a little Flower Soft into a small pot and dropped some Yellow plus a couple of drops of Butterscotch for a more natural appearance, smooshing it around with my finger to make sure it all got coated.Whilst this was drying I inked round the edges of my tombstone then cut, sanded and inked the ivy.The grass at the bottom is actually the leftover from the ivy trimmed down, sanded, inked etc… I adhered my little skele friend (or should that be fiend?) and using clear drying PVA added my lichen, trying to emulate how it would normally grow. There I’m done!!

And just in case you think it’s a little early to start thing about All Hallow’s Eve here’s a glimpse of what was in my garden the foggy other day just to get you in the mood….

spiders 002 spiders 004

Spooky,eh?When I think of all the money I’ve spent on decorations….lol….

It’s OK there aren’t any spiders visible in these pics….I left those ones out deliberately…. 🙂

For my card I’ve used the adorable Rabbit from a Hat by A Day For Daisies  and coloured with Copic Ciao Markers. The bunnies tails have been fluffed up with some Flower Soft and some snowy touches have been added with Stickles and Liquid Pearls.I chose these rather pretty papers from Dovecraft and teamed them with some pearlised textured card. The self adhesive ribbon is from the same collection as the papers. The sentiment is from a magazine freebie set and fits a 1″ circle punch perfectly!More Stickles have been applied around the edge and to the snowflakes. Not wanting to waste too much I placed some snowflakes from the punched border in the corners and topped them with some Liquid Pearls.
