Halloween in August!

Halloween001

Most cardmakers are familiar with the term ‘Christmas in July’ but this week at Passion for ProMarkers the colours Pumpkin and Prussian were to be used in conjunction with a Halloween theme.

This is where panic set in.I don’t own any Halloween stamps and I didn’t want the expense of buying something I would never use again.I was going to adapt some other stamps I had but it didn’t quite work 😦

A couple of people kindly suggested finding images on the internet. But I had already decided that I would try and draw something.

So I drew a Jack-o-Lantern wearing a hat.Having already worked out a computer generated greeting I went for a jolly looking one rather than scary.I drew in pencil onto Papermania textured card followed by a Letraset Fineliner, rubbed out any pencil lines and set to work with my trusty Promarkers.Apart from the two challenge colours I added some texture with a Blender pen.To give extra dimension I cut the image out and mounted on some more of the same card using foam tape and went round the edges with Cool Grey 1.

The papers are free downloads from Canon Creative Park.A Woodware Seagull punch made the decorative corners before eyelets were added with a Crop-o Dile. The font is called Deathnote from a Manga series of the same name.

I don’t know what anyone else thinks but I was quite pleased with how the drawing turned out. This is the first time I’ve drawn anything for years.

I  can see why this theme was set as it works fantastically with this colour combo.

I do have to add that the Prussian does actually look blue here whereas IRL it takes on a much deeper purple shade which the papers compliment more.

Picking Flowers

The Willow Sketchie Challenge has been set by Sharon this week on Craftbubble.Sketch as follows with the twist of a green theme:

This is what I came up with:sketch15aug003 (Small)

The bear stamp called Picking Flowers is designed by Sharon and is available here.Grass,Apple and Meadow Green Promarkers are used on her dress and to edge the green paper and card. The daisies are coloured with Amethyst with a tiny dot of Maroon for extra depth.I would loved to have used Aubergine but I’ve lost it.It’s in my bedroom somewhere but I can’t find it for the life of me.The image is mounted on a flower cut with Sizzix Wedding Flower #2 die.I added the buttons as I thought it looked a little bland but stamped the greeting directly onto the base card to avoid cluttering the corner.Papers are Making Memories.

I might have another attempt later in the week to see if I can incorporate the other half of the raffia into a card.

A Little Break

We had a family holiday in Devon. We arrived home on Wednesday but this is the first chance I’ve had to catch up here.

I made  two cards for the Willow Sketchie Challenge at Craftbubble (the one that started on 8th August).Well it’s been a while…

Here’s the sketch:

Slide 2

This the first card:

There was a twist this week to use the Carmine Promarker or a similar colour if you wished.Luckily I had the exact colour and used it on the Hibiscus flower on the cats head, also a little dot in the center of the Rose Pink coloured cheeks and around the edges of the image and sentiment.I also edged the Hibiscus  backing paper.Stamps are Kiki Kitty set by Pink Cat Studio. The piece of two-toned raffia I salvaged from some yummy rum and raisin fudge we had on holiday. This is actually only half of it.The other has a green end so it will come in handy for this weeks challenge (more on that next post).Papers are from a K & Co QVC TSV which I managed to to delivery of before our hols.Paper flowers and brads from my stash.I mirrored the sketch too.

Card no.2:

I needed to make a male themed card so no pink this time. The owl and swirl are freebies from two different issues of Craft Stamper Magazine.Sentiment from a See D set.Coloured with Promarkers of course!More of those delicious K & Co papers.I chose the dotted swirl piece so this gorgeous little fella had somewhere to perch. The ribbon is from a t-shirt – as in those annoying pieces they sew into the shoulders to stop them sliding off the hangers.Brads from stash. The large one is stamped with the dotted swirl in Stazon.
