Hat’s my girl!

jsldt30thnov 001

This is the last week of the 3 or More Embellishments challenge at Just Some Lines.Oh my gosh! It’s December tomorrow! To play along you need to use a Just Some Lines image to enter and you could win a fantastic digi stamp if you’re picked as part of the Top 3!

I’ve coloured up the gorgeous Lissie’s Sun Hat by Just Some Lines with Graph’It Markers. The purple shades I own are perhaps a little more vibrant than the dusky plum paper I’d chosen so I’ve inked around all edges with Milled Lavender Distress Ink to tie everything together more. The papers and card have been given the other type of distressing treatment too.A length of tulle has been wrapped around the horizontal panel and a bow tied to the side.I ran the chisel end of one of my markers along the outside to add some definition. The centre has been topped with a gem pin.I bought these by mistake thinking they were brads 😦 So to adapt them I chop off part of the pin at the back using wire cutters then place a foam pad behind for what’s left over to embed itself into and adhere it using Glossy Accents.I love a happy ending 😉 I dug out a couple of metal corners to create interest and to fill the space at the top of the card. They also complete the vintage feel.

Have a monster Birthday!

dtcards11thmarch 001

This week at Craft Your Passion the challenge is Make It Cute!!We have the fabulous 2 Cute Ink  and The Robin’s Nest as our sponsors too.Head on over to check how to play and win.Don’t forget to take a look at the DT inspiration, they’ve done a wonderful job.

For my card I’ve used the adorable Monster Balloon Digital Stamp  by 2 Cute Ink and coloured him with ProMarkers. His balloon has given a coating of Glossy Accents.I’ve layered up various papers from the Kars Vector paper pad.I turn to this pad time and time again for male themed cards. You can just pick out that the one behind the monster is glittered too.I chose some green cardstock to coordinate and a few brads to match.Metal embellishments just seem so right on masculine cards 🙂 The sentiment has been made on my Dymo Labelmaker using a plain bold font this time, then cut into banner shapes.Love this little gadget 😀 This card is for my DH from my youngest son.

Choco-purple-icious love!

It’s Dawn’s first time hosting and providing the sketch this week at Willow Sketchie Challenge. Here’s a peek at her fabby sketch :

And the theme is With Love – Hearts.Don’t forget you can follow the sketch and or theme. You could be the lucky winner of a voucher to spend at Willow Designs too! As well as a winner (chosen randomly) there will be a hand picked Top 3 and they will receive a super cute badge for their blog.Don’t forget to stop by the challenge site and check out my fellow DT’s beautiful creations.A truly inspirational bunch.

For my card I’ve used I LOVE Chocolate digital stamp  from Willow Designs. You get both the pre-coloured and black and white outlined images for your money – great value!I’ve used the pre-coloured image and dressed it up with some Liquid Pearls ‘white chocolate’ piping and Glossy accents on her shoes.I was going to use the Glossy Accents on the sweetie wrapper then it hit me out of the blue – or should that be purple!!To give a more authentic crinkly wrapper feel I reached for the Crackle Accents.Think purple Quality Street! If you don’t know what these are Google ’em and it will all be clear. Here’s a closer view :

Sadly the Glossy Accents appear to be shy : ∫

I cut around the edges of the image to slip in parts of my wonky hand cut heart frame. And yes,it was deliberately wonky!Going against my natural grain where everything must be perfect and symmetrical. The great thing about cutting this from corrugated card is the flexibility. It certainly made life a bit easier when trying to maneuver it into position. The sentiment is coloured with ProMarkers and I added some shiny satin purple ribbon. The backing paper is from Crazy Daisy downloadable paper collection from Willow Designs.I’ve only just realised that I had threaded some heart shaped buttons with purple floss but have completely forgotten to add them to my card.Doh!

Supplies :

Image : I LOVE Chocolate digital stamp from Willow Designs
Sentiment : Imaginisce Sweet Thing Acrylic Stamp
Mediums : White Opal Liquid Pearls,Glossy Accents,Crackle Accents,ProMarkers

Gothic Star Girl

Gone Gothic is the Challenge at Craft Your Passion this week.We have the fabulous The Paper Shelter as our sponsor too!Head on over to check how to play and win.Don’t forget to take a look at the DT and GDT inspiration, they’ve done a wonderful job!

For my card I’ve used the gorgeous Gothic and Modern from The Paper Shelter. This comes as a set with various images and a backing paper.I’ve printed and coloured the JPG Outline with Flexmarker in greyscale adding some subtle highlights with a white gel pen. Here’s a closer view :

This is the first time I’ve made a Star Card and the tutorial I’ve used came from here. This one is in cm’s but I usually work in inches. Now I understand the principle I’ll definitely have a go in those measurements. That’s how I achieved the central triangular mat.I took my time with the card base and it actually turned right first time!! I also made the skeleton leaf flower from this tutorial.Making this card took me back to my teen years and I had a good reminisce about all things Goth/Gothic.So I plumped for a monochrome colour scheme(I wanted to use black but not make everything too dark),lace, metal (brads and pins) and the star shaped base ( altho’ most goth stars are pentangles).Even the flower has a lacy feel to it.I did have to colour some of the leaves with my black FlexMarker as I didn’t have enough. It’s a pretty good way to use these up as I’m sure a lot of people have them in there stash and don’t know what to do with them!I would be careful making them tho’ as the lady in the video appears to have asbestos fingers – my pain threshold isn’t that high.Ow!I mad the pins myself too with various beads and metal spacers from my stash, holding everything together with Glossy Accents.Altho’ the corners are tucked in when the card is folded the pins and sentiment act as closures to help keep everything in place. The sentiment covers the small gap you get in the centre and I’m too fussy to let it show!!Anyway hope you like my interpretation of gothic.Only trouble is after making this I did have to go and seek out some videos by The Cure on YouTube!Gotta love Robert Smith’s hair!!

Reddy for cake!

It’s Willow Sketchie time!My turn to host this week too!So here’s my sketch :

The theme is Let Them Eat Cake but any food on your cards is acceptable. With the new style challenges you can go for the sketch, challenge or if you’re feeling adventurous BOTH!Up to you.You could be the lucky winner of a voucher to spend at Willow Designs too!Don’t forget to stop by the challenge site and check out my fellow DT’s beautiful creations.A truly inspirational  bunch.

Beacuase I’m still loving the Crazy Daisy downloadable paper collection I’ve used them along with this delectable Cake (** Note : the sign is blank on the image.I used Word to put the greeting on it**) both from Willow Designs.I coloured the image with ProMarkers and coated the cherry using Glossy Accents and the icing with Crackle Accents. As there seem to be pretty cake cases for your real cakes in the shops at the mo’ I decided to keep with this trend  and paper pieced mine. You can probably tell I rotated the sketch. For the pennant piece I stuck a satin ribbon onto some white card using a double sided adhesive sheet them passed it through my ribbler. That way the ribbon keeps it’s shape.A couple of brads have been added to it.The metal corner, originally silver, was coloured with a paint pen.A stamped greeting completes the card.

Supplies :

Image and Patterned Paper : Cake by Willow Designs,Crazy Daisy downloadable paper collection
Mediums : ProMarkers,Glossy Accents,Crackle Accents, Rhubarb Stalk Memento Dew Drop

‘Owl’ love you forever!

After seeing Winnie come out to play Walter has decided he needed to make an appearance too!

The delightful and charming Be my Valentine Walter is from Willow Designs. He’s  been coloured with ProMarkers and to give him a doe eyed look I’ve used Glossy Accents. They’ve also been added to his welly boots and heart.I’ve not made a shaped card in a while so I thought I’d add him to one.I also bought a paper ribbler a while back, put it away, then forgot where I put it and finally made the effort to search for it as I thought these little hand cut banners would be a quirky little touch. They’ve been wrapped with  some baker’s twine and the bottom one has some heart brads that I’ve had foreveeeer attached to it.

Supplies :

Mediums : ProMarkers,Glossy Accents
Papers & Card : DP Basic Grey Cupcake Collection,White card Craft Essentials from The Works

A pocket full of posies

Another Thursday, another Willow Sketchie Challenge! This week we have a fabby sketch by Claire :

Don’t forget to stop by the challenge site and check out my fellow DT’s beautiful creations.A truly inspirational  bunch.

You could be the lucky winner of a voucher to spend at Willow Designs too!

As soon as I saw this sketch I knew I had the chance to  incorporate a hidden message.Something I’d never done before and was inspired to do by Sharon Armstrong’s article in issue 101 of Cardmaking and Papercraft magazine:

Us DT girlies are still enjoying playing with the adorable Polly Pickleberry CD-rom from Willow Designs. Here I’ve used one of the digital stamp images coloured with FlexMarkers. The bush she’s watering is from an embellishment sheet, also coloured with FlexMarkers.I drew some water drops and covered them and her wellies with Glossy Accents. Here’s a closer view :

The little blue roses I cut from a backing paper and adhered them on top.The tag is cut in to shape from one of the sentiment sheets and I made a pocket on the back for it to slide in and out of.This was quite easy to do.All I did was cut a piece of card a bit bigger than the tag and add adhesive to three sides, remembering to leave the edge I wanted the tag to fit open. The pretty pink rose paper is also from the CD-rom.I found this gorgeous textured pearlised card in a bargain bundle at my local craft warehouse and used a previously unused embossing folder on the piece behind the image.I added a dark pink metallic eyelet and tied a length of cord through it.I found these cute flower buttons in my stash and threaded them with some floss.

There’s also a SALE  going on at Willow Designs. You know we all love a bargain – so go on grab some!

And just to remind you the DT call is open until 15th February too!Check the challenge blog for details.

P-laid back frog

No Design paper is the challenge at Craft Your Passion this week.We also have the fabulous Doodle Pantry,Little Miss Muffet Stamps and Pizzazzaplenty as our sponsors.Head on over to check how to play and win.Don’t forget to take a look at DT and GDT inspiration, they’ve done a wonderful job!

On my card I’ve used Little Frog from Doodle Pantry. This is a great value set.It comes with two different images, uncoloured and coloured. There are two fab backing papers and two sentiments too. This is one of the uncoloured images that I coloured with ProMarkers.I gave him a coating with a clear glaze pen to give him the waxy sheen that tree frogs have and gave him some nice bulbous eyes with Glossy Accents.I’ve two different techniques for the backgrounds. The plaid pattern is drawn onto plain white cardstock using a ruler and ProMarkers.I love the way the colours overlap as the ink is translucent. The other backing is made by passing a piece of Whitewash card through an embossing folder then sanded. This is actually supposed to be a Christmas one but I think it can be used anytime. I dug out some acrylic dew drops to embellish.

Supplies :
Image and sentiment : Little Frog from Doodle Pantry
Colouring mediums : ProMarkers,Sakura Clear Glaze Pen,Glossy Accents

At Craft Your Passion the challenge this week is Beary Sweet. We have the fabby Crafty Sentiments and The Robin’s Nest as our sponsors!Head on over to check how to play and win.Don’t forget to take a look at DT and GDT inspiration, they’ve done a wonderful job!

I’ve used the adorable Patches with Balloons by Crafty Sentiments and coloured him with FlexMarkers and ProMarkers.Of course the balloons cried out for a coating of Glossy Accents.I tied a bow with paper raffia ribbon, which I split the loops to give it a more shabby appearance.I copied the layout on the bottom part of the card omitting the paper raffia and added a computer generated sentiment.Yes this corny creation was my own doing! :∫

Supplies :
Image : Patches with Balloons by Crafty Sentiments

Having a mer-ry time

We’re on the search for Mythical Creatures at Craft Your Passion this week!We have two fabulous sponsors too – A Day for Daisies and Pizzaz Aplenty.Head on over to check how to play and win.Don’t forget to take a look at DT and GDT inspiration, they’ve done a wonderful job!

Here I’ve used the beautiful and whimsical Birthday Mermaid from A Day for Daisies. She’s been coloured with Polychromos  pencils and blended with low odour oils thinners using a paper stump.I only used a dry stump on her hair to leave the detail of the pencil strokes for a more realistic approach.Of course I had to apply Glossy Accents to the balloons. The papers are actually called Ooh La La for him but they’re so beautiful I just had to use them with her.Well bang went my promise  NOT to buy any more papers but when I found these for £3.99 at my local craft warehouse it was just too good to resist!!The pearl brads were another bargain from there at 99p!Both this items have been on my wish list for a very long time.I added the ribbon overlayed with some cord from my stash, topped with a die cut swirl and flower.I made a tab type sentiment to complete the card.
