Show me the way to Amaryllis

Here I’ve taken the chance to make a Christmas card featuring a Bildmalarna stamp.Sadly these cute little beauties are no longer available but I’ve managed to seek a few out here and there 🙂 This is Mimosa – Amaryllis and she’s been coloured with Faber Castell Polychromos Pencils after being stamped onto Neenah Desert Storm card.Some Frantage has been scattered around the edges.She’s been layered up onto some Forever Friends Christmas Kraft Notes papers.The die cut chevron pieces have actually been snipped in half to make them stretch across the width of the card and as the gap is behind the image nobody will ever know…except I’ve just told you 😉 A stamped sentiment has been added along with a die cut poinsettia…well I don’t have an amaryllis but it’s in keeping with the flower theme!

Dies to Die For still have some of these stamps left in their Retirement Sale.Unfortunately not his one – I think I snapped the last one up!No connection to the company,just a happy customer 🙂

**I’m late posting this as I had no internet yesterday – again!Big thumbs down to Talk Talk 😦 **

For my little friend Acorn Hugs by Sami Stamps I’ve used my Polychromos pencils to colour him up giving him a furry effect and texture to the acorn.Blending solution and a paper stump have been applied to give the cup and background a smoother appearance.White Soufflé pen has been added for the highlights and,although it doesn’t show in the pic,3D Crystal Lacquer coats his eyes,nose and acorn.Quite a simplistic design using dies,paper distresser,jute twine and wooden embellishments along with these fabulous papers in Autumnal hues.

Looking sharp!

The challenge at Crafty Sentiments this week is Use Your Favourite Image.Drop on by to join in the fun and be in with the chance of winning a super prize.Don’t forget to take a look at some fabulous inspiration by the talented DT while you’re there.

As I LOVE hedgehogs I just had to choose the most adorable The Hedgehog  by Crafty Sentiments Designs.He’s been stamped directly onto the card base then coloured with Polychromos Pencils and blending solution on his body and face for a smoother appearance.The sentiment was stamped in place before the kraft card overlay with die cut apertures was adhered to the card front with foam pads.Some jute twine was wrapped around the bottom of the panel and wooden flower buttons scattered across the top right corner to finish the card to give it a rustic feel.

Sparkling Angel

This is the beautiful,if a little daring,Angel Nevaeh by KennyK Stamps.After printing her onto Neenah Desert Storm cardstock and changing her outline to brown in Microsoft Word she was coloured in a mix of Polychromos,for the skintones,and Spectrum Noir Pencils for the rest.A paper stump dipped in Spectrum Noir Blending Solution was used for smoother effect on her skin.I don’t actually dip the stumps directly into the bottle.I have a teeny jam pot with a piece of the sponge part of a kitchen scourer trimmed to fit inside.That way you don’t get too much on the stump nor does it suck up and waste the solution also.The rest was direct pencil blending.Disappointingly I couldn’t find my normal white Gelly Roll pen so had to opt for my Soufflé pen instead.Oh well, at least she is bright eyed and has a Hollywood smile 😉 You may just about be able to pick out the touches of glitter on her coronet of flowers,wings and dotted onto some of the berries on the wreath on the sentiment.It’s a shame the glittered areas on this pretty paper haven’t shown up…A die cut stitched holly strip adorned with sequins and a length of crochet lace have been used to decorate the card.

As You Like It Challenge : Favourite Papers – Well…so many to choose from…but these are my favourite Christmas papers altho’ I do love First Edition in general.They are more like a thin cardstock than paper so good quality,coordinate beautifully throughout each pad and you get a variety of speciality finishes as in glittered,foiled,UV spot and fabric textured depending on the pad.What more could I ask for? 🙂

I’ve coloured up Dancing Squirrel by Fabrika Fantasy with Polychromos Pencils on kraft card.I chose some pretty papers and the brown flowery strip is glittered.I created a banner with letters from the same set and some jute twine.I dug out a scallop border punch and my paper distresser too.I threaded a wooden butterfly button with more of the same twine and popped it on my card.

Having a Splashing Time on Hochanda ;)

     

I have had the honour of making a couple of samples for Suzette from Crafty Sentiments Designs for the Hochanda shows at 11 am and 3 pm on the 5th June.

It would be lovely if you could tune in and share the talented DT’s hard work.Plus Suzette’s fantastic demos of course 🙂

For my first card I’ve coloured up Splashing with Polychromos Pencils on kraft card.The puddle and splashes have been painted over with Iridescent Medium,a few touches of white gel pen and 3D Crystal Lacquer have been added too!The pics show my Kick Stand Card folded flat,open and a close up of the stamp.

Now on to my second card…

Splashing has been coloured with Copic Ciao and Sketch Markers this time.Some more white gel pen to add a little shine to the pup’s nose along with some glittery ripples in the puddle.This time I’ve made a Shaped Tent Fold card by only die cutting up to the fold then embossing the rest using a stitch effect die.

I think by using different mediums and colours it shows the versatility of this darling,fun stamp 🙂

I’ve coloured up the beautiful and serene Mix Media “Peony” by Little Blue Button Stamps with Polychromos Pencils along with some Iridescent Medium painted over the hummingbird and her eyelids to give a shimmer to her green eye shadow.You may just be able to make it out?It was then cut out with a die to make it seem as though she had been torn from a sketch book.The sentiment has been stamped directly onto this piece too.I have to admit the card base was a little too small to place it elsewhere!I really wanted to use this die to cut the shaped card from as I thought it a good match for her hairstyle,so I had to compromise with the size.It measures around 5″ x 5″.The pretty paper was part of a magazine freebie.I stretched the lace across and held it in place with decorative staples.The flower,also supposed to a peony, I made myself by die cutting some white self adhesive fabric as it had a lovely texture.I coloured all the layers with Copic Ciao and Sketch Markers and once dry I shaped the layers.I left the backing paper on the bottom flower to give it more stability.As I didn’t want the second flower or stamens to stick to anything else I dusted the backs with talc…which worked beautifully 🙂 A black gem has been added to the centre.Three white flat backed pearls adorn the top right hand corner as I always think they go so well with lace 🙂

Don’t bug me – it’s Spring!

I’m so excited to be a Guest Designer for Imagine That!Digis by Kris! at their Creative Playground Challenge.The theme this month is Spring and it runs from April 2nd – May 6th.Stop on by the blog to check out all the wonderful inspiration there!

For my card I’ve printed this sweet image from the Ladybugs set by Imagine That!Digis by Kris onto kraft card then coloured with Polychromos Pencils.They really lend themselves beautifully to this technique.The white highlights on the bug are also in pencil.I’d usually add them with gel pen as I found it difficult to get it to show over the layers of colour.Then I had a ‘moment’…it suddenly dawned on me to draw them in where I wanted them to be first!Once I’d added the colour in I just sharpened it up a bit with the white pencil.Now,why hadn’t I thought of that before…please,don’t answer that – it’s rhetorical 😛 The blending has been done by pencil alone.Except for the Periwinkle glow around her.Blending solution and a paper stump to soften.I chose these papers from the Blossoms & Bugs Digi Papers also from the store.They coordinate perfectly 🙂 I printed the sentiment,from the Ladybugs set, onto kraft too and made some daisies to match the image to finish the whole thing off and not a die cut in sight.Everything has been punched!

That’s the way the Cookie crumbles!

This is my card I’ve made for Day 2 of the New Releases showcase at Crafty Sentiments Designs Inspirational Blog featuring Cookie – Let’s Eat and will be available at Crafty Sentiments Designs shop soon.

After stamping Cookie -Let’s Eat by Crafty Sentiments Designs onto kraft card I coloured this cutie up with Polychromos pencils to get a furry effect.Once the bowl had been coloured some 3D Crystal Lacquer has been applied for shine an dimension.His eyes and nose have been given the same treatment.I’ve teamed the image with some Authentique Celebrate papers.All corners on the layering have been punched.The sentiment has been stamped and each circle die cut.A trio of button topped die cut flowers decorate the bottom right hand corner and a length of ribbon stretched across the centre of the card.The little white ‘buckle’ to brighten the card is recycled from an old bra strap!Don’t worry it had been washed first 😛 LOL

These adorable Hedgehogs by Sasayaki Glitter have been printed onto  Neenah Desert Storm cardstock then coloured with Polychromos pencils.I’ve used a few different techniques with them too.Their faces and the sky have been blended with Spectrum Noir Blending Solution using a paper stump.I did take an artistic liberty with the faces and made them flesh toned as I didn’t want the hedgehogs to end up looking too brown.Yeah,I know – hedgehogs are brown 😀 The colours on the butterfly and bow have been blended using pencils only.For the ground and shadowing once I’d layered the pencils they were blended with a dry paper stump only.A little white gel pen had been added for highlights and a Stardust pen for a touch of glitter the the heart on the bow.I cut apertures in two sheets of patterned paper to frame them and stretched a length of ribbon across the bottom then gave the sentiment some lift with foam pads.A few jute twine threaded wooden buttons have been arranged in the top left corner in a higgledy piggledy fashion.

It’s no secret that I like (well,LOVE) hedgehogs…Quite a few years ago my DD1 caught a glimpse of one running across the road through our hall window one evening…What she didn’t bank on was a mad woman chasing after it with a camera!Yep,that was me… 😉
