It’s a Wee bit sketchy

There’s a super sketch to follow at Craft Your Passion this week.We have the fabulous Sweet Stamps as our sponsor too.Head on over to check how to play and win.Don’t forget to take a look at the DT and GDT inspiration, they’ve done a wonderful job!

Here’s the sketch :

For my card I’ve used a cutie from a freebie Wee Stamps set that was in a craft magazine. She’s been coloured with Copic Ciao and Sketch markers. The pretty papers are freebies from another magazine.I’ve added stitching with a Sew Easy tool.I don’t use this as often as I should 😦 How often do we spend money on a ‘must have’ only for it to lurk in the back of a cupboard?!The sentiment is from the same freebie set and I hand cut the flowers from the inside back cover of the booklet the papers came in,for more substance, then added a brad to each centre.

Supplies :

Image & sentiment : Magazine freebies
Mediums : Copic Ciao and Sketch markers,Memento Rich Cocoa Dew Drop ink pad
Papers & card : DP  magazine freebie,Trimcraft Textured 12 x 12 Card
Tools : X-cut guillotine,Siesta Lip Pattern Corner Punch, decoupage scissors,We R Memory Keepers Sew Easy tool

For my card I’ve used the divine  Scent Of A Vintage Rose.As this is such a gorgeous image I thought I’d try and make an effort with my colouring.I’ve used Polychromos Pencils and took inspiration from this tutorial at Dorcas Designs as a guide.I took a fair time to add all the details as I wanted them but I have to say I’m quite pleased with the result 🙂 Mind you I think I need so much more practice to match the talents of this lady!I think I need to more adventurous on which colours to use for shading.I’m a bit of a colour coordination freak!

Here’s a closer look :

Have to admit I was worried about making a card to go with this once it was coloured up. I hope I’ve managed to make a card worthy of it!

Polly w-ally doodle all the day!

It’s time for another Willow Sketchie Challenge and Claire is your host for this week. Here’s her fabby sketch :

The theme is Summer Holidays.Don’t forget you can choose either the sketch or theme. You can even combine both! You could be the lucky winner of a voucher to spend at Willow Designs too! As well as a winner (chosen randomly) there will be a hand picked Top 3 and they will receive a super cute badge for their blog.Don’t forget to stop by the challenge site and check out my fellow DT’s beautiful creations.A truly inspirational bunch.

This sweet little girl is from the Polly Pickleberry CD-rom,from WillowDesigns, and has been coloured with FlexMarkers.I’ve added some Stickles to the butterfly and flowers.I’ve given her shiny shoes with 3D Crystal Lacquer. Here’s a closer peek :

The papers were a freebie from a fairly recent issue of Cardmaking and Papercraft magazine.Just love the fresh, bright colours perfect for Summer.Well, perfect for a Summer that hasn’t done nothing but rain, that is!!This is how I’d like to be right now instead of ducking and diving the heavy downpours we’re experiencing at the moment.Still, never mind. The pretty pink glittery thingies are Papermania Shimmer Dome Stickers that I got in the latest Docrafts Goody Bag.I found the Gromlet in  a set that I picked up for 79p and thought it would go perfectly with the  theme of the card.

Gothic Star Girl

Gone Gothic is the Challenge at Craft Your Passion this week.We have the fabulous The Paper Shelter as our sponsor too!Head on over to check how to play and win.Don’t forget to take a look at the DT and GDT inspiration, they’ve done a wonderful job!

For my card I’ve used the gorgeous Gothic and Modern from The Paper Shelter. This comes as a set with various images and a backing paper.I’ve printed and coloured the JPG Outline with Flexmarker in greyscale adding some subtle highlights with a white gel pen. Here’s a closer view :

This is the first time I’ve made a Star Card and the tutorial I’ve used came from here. This one is in cm’s but I usually work in inches. Now I understand the principle I’ll definitely have a go in those measurements. That’s how I achieved the central triangular mat.I took my time with the card base and it actually turned right first time!! I also made the skeleton leaf flower from this tutorial.Making this card took me back to my teen years and I had a good reminisce about all things Goth/Gothic.So I plumped for a monochrome colour scheme(I wanted to use black but not make everything too dark),lace, metal (brads and pins) and the star shaped base ( altho’ most goth stars are pentangles).Even the flower has a lacy feel to it.I did have to colour some of the leaves with my black FlexMarker as I didn’t have enough. It’s a pretty good way to use these up as I’m sure a lot of people have them in there stash and don’t know what to do with them!I would be careful making them tho’ as the lady in the video appears to have asbestos fingers – my pain threshold isn’t that high.Ow!I mad the pins myself too with various beads and metal spacers from my stash, holding everything together with Glossy Accents.Altho’ the corners are tucked in when the card is folded the pins and sentiment act as closures to help keep everything in place. The sentiment covers the small gap you get in the centre and I’m too fussy to let it show!!Anyway hope you like my interpretation of gothic.Only trouble is after making this I did have to go and seek out some videos by The Cure on YouTube!Gotta love Robert Smith’s hair!!

Supplies :

Sentiment : From Hero Arts Anytime Messages clear stamp set
Mediums : FlexMarkers,Jet Black Archival Ink,Black Soot Distress Ink,Sakura White Gelly Roll Pen

Thanks a bunch or two!

It’s my turn to host at Willow Sketchie Challenge and this is the sketch I’ve come up with :

The theme is Summer Florals. So anything flowery will do whether it’s the image, papers, flowers or any other floral stash item. You can take a choice of either the sketch or theme.Or really go for it and do both!

I’ve used a super cute Walter Owl digi stamp taken from the Walter Owl digital collection by Willow Designs. He’s been coloured with FlexMarkers and fussy cut out. He’s then been shaped and adhered with 3D Glue for some extra dimension.I’ve layered up with some new Papermania Happy Days papers and new Papermania Kraftstax card from the latest DoCrafts Goody Bag along with some Trimcraft Textured card that I treated myself to – well you have to don’t you!I’ve Distress Inked the edges of the papers and afterwards pounced the edges of the card layers with the same piece of Cut n Dry.I shaped the pieces the sentiment is mounted onto, using that as a guide.I added some Blitters, the flowers, from the same Goody Bag and some Raffia Lace Ribbon plus a length of grosgrain ribbon. The Raffia Lace was much lighter in colour originally so that got Distress Inked too.I have to confess the ribbon is a little bit of a cover up job as even tho’ I’d tried hard to remember that the paper had a right way up I didn’t notice until I’d stuck the sentiment on that it was in fact upside down!!Oooopsie!Luckily I’d used wet glue and it hadn’t set so I managed to save it and just make a few  *cough* minor  alterations…

So on to some super news! The  new Walter and Winnie Christmas Stamps are available from Willow Designs to pre-order now!!The stamps can be found in the Clear Stamps section. They’re sooo cute you’ll love ’em!

Here are some sample cards :

A ticket to happ-bee-ness

Chillin’ and Grillin’ is the theme this week at Craft Your Passion. We have two fab sponsors too,Digital Delights and Crop Chocolate.Head on over to check how to play and win.Don’t forget to take a look at the DT and GDT inspiration, they’ve done a wonderful job!

I’ve used the adorable Sitting Honey Pot Larry from Digital Delights. He’s been coloured with Polychromos Pencils blended with low odour oils thinners and a paper stump. Some green has been added to the black parts to tone in with the papers/card.I applied a thin layer of Frosted Lace Stickles and dabbed it with my finger to even it out.His eyes, nose and honey have been coated with 3D Crystal Lacquer. The hexagonal patterned paper was chosen as it reminded of the shape of honeycomb.Of course I had to add some flowers! The sentiment was created in Word and I printed it directly onto the ticket (this came with the papers) by first printing onto copy paper then sticking the ticket over the top, positioning it as best I could, using a removable adhesive tape pen.Of course there may be little discrepancies as the paper may feed a little differently a second time but I was pleased with the result and that’s what counts!

Supplies :
