At Craft Your Passion this week the challenge is Happy Birthday. We have the fabulous Birdie Brown as our sponsor too.Head on over to check how to play and win.Don’t forget to take a look at the DT inspiration, they’ve done a wonderful job.
For my card I’ve used a totally adorable image from Birthday Bear set by Birdie Brown, the sentiment is part of it too,and coloured them with Copic Ciao and Sketch Markers. To create the kind of ‘fuzzy’ effect on the bear I went over it several times with my pens and covered quite a large area with the lightest colour first. This way when you apply the darker shade, then overlay the light colour when blending it bleaches it out a little and you get a mottled appearance. You have to be aware that when you layer up the ink this way it does deepen the colours despite having heard the contrary! The pretty papers are freebies from the centre pages of a past copy of Cardmaking and Papercraft magazine.I’ve got a ton of back copies with these in and I’m trying to make it a mission to use them up.I’ve teamed them up with some coordinating cardstock.I’ve created some fancy borders and corners with a punch and a die.A couple of layered Prima Flowers and a handful of gems have been added to embellish.
Supplies :
Image and sentiment : Birthday Bear set from Birdie Brown
Papers & Card : Freebies form Cardmaking and Papercraft magazine,Core’dinations Roy G. Biv 12 x 12 Cardstock Pad

At Digi Sketch Challenge we have another new challenge and the theme this fortnight is Layer It Up.We have the super A Day For Daisies as our sponsor.
It’s the lovely Sharon’s turn to host and here’s her fabby sketch :

You can follow the sketch, theme or even both.Hope you stop by the challenge site and check out my fellow DT’s beautiful creations.A truly inspirational bunch.
For my card I’ve used the sweet Birthday Invitation by A Day for Daisies and coloured her with Copic Ciao Markers.I tried a different hair colour combo which I think turned out a little Hayley Williams-esque (Paramore’s lead vocalist) but I like it 🙂 Her dress is paper pieced with the reverse side of the flower paper and shaded it with Copics. The palest colour showing is actually the paper.IRL it really adds depth to the image.I trimmed the image down allowing the balloon to drift over the top edge.I love these beautiful First Edition papers and was waiting for the perfect opportunity. This gorgeous image was it.I die cut the shape underneath her for some interest.Pearl brads have been added to embellish and the sentiment has been stamped directly onto the background paper.
Supplies :

At Craft Your Passion this week the challenge is Patchwork Backgrounds. We have the fabulous The Sugar Kissed Cottage as our sponsor too.Head on over to check how to play and win.Don’t forget to take a look at the DT inspiration, they’ve done a wonderful job.
Perhaps before I get on to my card I need to explain my post title first 😉 Argy bargy is slang in the UK for well er… let’s say a lively discussion!(Polite term for an argument)But as you can see these girls are friends coupled with the fact that I’ve used the Bargello Technique for the background 🙂
Now for the card details.I’ve used the sweet Best Friends by The Sugar Kissed Cottage and coloured them with Copic Ciao Markers onto hammered texture card as I thought it would suit this vintage style image well. You do have to be a little careful tho’ as the Copics can be absorbed by it and bleed so you have to try not to over saturate. After trimming I cut freehand around the top not only to give a softer look to the sky but so that you can see a little more of the backing piece. This is the first time I’ve used this technique and I’m fairly pleased how it’s turned out.Altho’ on closer inspection I could’ve lined the strips up a little better … Ooops!Did I say that out loud?Don’t look too closely!I dug out some double sided adhesive sheets that I rarely use and the papers were a magazine freebie plus I adhered the cut pieces of paper to some copy paper so it was quite cost effective all round.I think the trick is to use papers with a small pattern and have at least one block colour.I’ve kept the rest of the card fairly simple with some coordinating card and just to fancy it up a bit I used a MArtha Stewart PATP set on the kraft card them attached it to a shop bought card blank.I printed the sentiment onto another piece of the hammered card to match then used another Martha Stewart punch to create a tab.For the finishing touched I added some crochet lace and a wooden flower embellishment with a pearl brad placed in the centre.
Supplies :

For my card I’ve used the adorable Emo Amber and the Heart balloon by Just Some Lines. It’s the lovely Kelly’s turn to host and here’s her fabby sketch :

You can follow the sketch, theme or even both.Hope you stop by the challenge site and check out my fellow DT’s beautiful creations.A truly inspirational bunch.
For my card I’ve used Summertime Peekers Flower Pot by Bugaboo Stamps and coloured this cutie with Copic Ciao and Sketch Markers.Altho’ it doesn’t show too well I did colour the flowers with Copic Atyou Spica pens for a little sparkle.I chose a lovely bright paper from a past freebie in Cardmaking and Papercraft magazine and found some coordinating card in my stash. The square panels have been embossed with a recently purchased embossing folder.I love it.It embossed so deeply and it only cost me £1.99 🙂 Inked over it to bring the pattern out further.I die cut a flower and some leaves to add the sentiment to.I tied a bow and left the tails long so I could twirl them around.
