At Craft Your Passion this week the challenge is Summer Flowers. We have the fabulous Digital Paper Craft as our sponsor too.Head on over to check how to play and win.Don’t forget to take a look at the DT inspiration, they’ve done a wonderful job.
For my card I’ve used the sweet, sweet Ava Girl by Digital Paper Craft and coloured her with a mix of ProMarkers and FlexMarkers. The FlexMarkers were used alone on her skin, hair and shoes.I introduced a couple of ProMarker colours on her dress to get the shading and hues I wanted. The papers were a freebie with Quick Cards Made Easy.It also came with a CD-rom full of coordinating elements.I resized and punched out the sentiment then coated it in 3D Crystal Lacquer.Once this was dry I mounted it onto a tag, threaded with paper twine, from the same CD-rom.This was then bordered with some punched flowers shaped with a ball tool.I like to make leaves to match with the same punch by trimming them down and adding the vein detail with a very fine ball tool.As the image is quite large with a lot of white space I decided to punch the floral border in white to keep in with this and to give an extra lift to the whole card.I dotted some Liquid Pearls into the center of the flowers on the border and the red ones too. Some flat backed pearls were used to embellish the cut out corners.I did also apply some gloss to her shoes too but it doesn’t really show in the main pic so here’s a closer view 🙂

I can’t take credit for the layout tho’.More details below 🙂

At Craft Your Passion this week the challenge is Embossing – either wet or dry.We have the fabulous Cardmadfairy and Simon Says as our sponsors.Head on over to check how to play and win.Don’t forget to take a look at the DT and GDT inspiration, they’ve done a wonderful job!
I’ve used Imogen from Cardmadfairy and coloured her with FlexMarkers.’Cos she’s quite a cute ‘n’ quirky image I thought I’d colour her a little differently in greyscale and highlighting parts of the image with colour.I also decided to make a bit of a quirky card to go with her too. After printing her I used an embossing folder to create a frame around her.I did put it in the ‘wrong’ way round to push the frame out instead of debossing it.I hand cut around it too taking off the swirly pattern that was part of the original design.I chose a few other folders and cut strips then glued them to a plain piece of card before trimming it size and adding the stitches.I took some silver metal corners, dabbed them onto a Versamark pad then coated them in black embossing powder.Whilst I had these supplies out I stamped and embossed the sentiment too.I also added a narrow ribbon.
Supplies :
Image : Imogen from Cardmadfairy
Sentiment : Kaisercraft Clear Mini Stamp Set Life
Mediums : FlexMarkers,Versamark Ink Pad,Stampendous Black Detail Powder

The papers were a freebie from a fairly recent issue of Cardmaking and Papercraft magazine.Just love the fresh, bright colours perfect for Summer.Well, perfect for a Summer that hasn’t done nothing but rain, that is!!This is how I’d like to be right now instead of ducking and diving the heavy downpours we’re experiencing at the moment.Still, never mind. The pretty pink glittery thingies are Papermania Shimmer Dome Stickers that I got in the latest Docrafts Goody Bag.I found the Gromlet in a set that I picked up for 79p and thought it would go perfectly with the theme of the card.

Gone Gothic is the Challenge at Craft Your Passion this week.We have the fabulous The Paper Shelter as our sponsor too!Head on over to check how to play and win.Don’t forget to take a look at the DT and GDT inspiration, they’ve done a wonderful job!
For my card I’ve used the gorgeous Gothic and Modern from The Paper Shelter. This comes as a set with various images and a backing paper.I’ve printed and coloured the JPG Outline with Flexmarker in greyscale adding some subtle highlights with a white gel pen. Here’s a closer view :

This is the first time I’ve made a Star Card and the tutorial I’ve used came from here. This one is in cm’s but I usually work in inches. Now I understand the principle I’ll definitely have a go in those measurements. That’s how I achieved the central triangular mat.I took my time with the card base and it actually turned right first time!! I also made the skeleton leaf flower from this tutorial.Making this card took me back to my teen years and I had a good reminisce about all things Goth/Gothic.So I plumped for a monochrome colour scheme(I wanted to use black but not make everything too dark),lace, metal (brads and pins) and the star shaped base ( altho’ most goth stars are pentangles).Even the flower has a lacy feel to it.I did have to colour some of the leaves with my black FlexMarker as I didn’t have enough. It’s a pretty good way to use these up as I’m sure a lot of people have them in there stash and don’t know what to do with them!I would be careful making them tho’ as the lady in the video appears to have asbestos fingers – my pain threshold isn’t that high.Ow!I mad the pins myself too with various beads and metal spacers from my stash, holding everything together with Glossy Accents.Altho’ the corners are tucked in when the card is folded the pins and sentiment act as closures to help keep everything in place. The sentiment covers the small gap you get in the centre and I’m too fussy to let it show!!Anyway hope you like my interpretation of gothic.Only trouble is after making this I did have to go and seek out some videos by The Cure on YouTube!Gotta love Robert Smith’s hair!!
Supplies :

Sentiment : From Hero Arts Anytime Messages clear stamp set

It’s my turn to host at Willow Sketchie Challenge and this is the sketch I’ve come up with :

The theme is Summer Florals. So anything flowery will do whether it’s the image, papers, flowers or any other floral stash item. You can take a choice of either the sketch or theme.Or really go for it and do both! You could be the lucky winner of a voucher to spend at Willow Designs too!As well as a winner (chosen randomly) there will be a hand picked Top 3 and they will receive a super cute badge for their blog.Don’t forget to stop by the challenge site and check out my fellow DT’s beautiful creations.A truly inspirational bunch.
I’ve used a super cute Walter Owl digi stamp taken from the Walter Owl digital collection by Willow Designs. He’s been coloured with FlexMarkers and fussy cut out. He’s then been shaped and adhered with 3D Glue for some extra dimension.I’ve layered up with some new Papermania Happy Days papers and new Papermania Kraftstax card from the latest DoCrafts Goody Bag along with some Trimcraft Textured card that I treated myself to – well you have to don’t you!I’ve Distress Inked the edges of the papers and afterwards pounced the edges of the card layers with the same piece of Cut n Dry.I shaped the pieces the sentiment is mounted onto, using that as a guide.I added some Blitters, the flowers, from the same Goody Bag and some Raffia Lace Ribbon plus a length of grosgrain ribbon. The Raffia Lace was much lighter in colour originally so that got Distress Inked too.I have to confess the ribbon is a little bit of a cover up job as even tho’ I’d tried hard to remember that the paper had a right way up I didn’t notice until I’d stuck the sentiment on that it was in fact upside down!!Oooopsie!Luckily I’d used wet glue and it hadn’t set so I managed to save it and just make a few *cough* minor alterations…
So on to some super news! The new Walter and Winnie Christmas Stamps are available from Willow Designs to pre-order now!!The stamps can be found in the Clear Stamps section. They’re sooo cute you’ll love ’em!
Here are some sample cards :

It’s Anything Goes at Craft Your Passion this week!We have two fab sponsors –My Heart Pieces and Simon Says Stamp.Head on over to check how to play and win.Don’t forget to take a look at the DT and GDT inspiration, they’ve done a wonderful job!
For my card I’ve used the delightful Bathing Fairy from My Heart Pieces and coloured her with FlexMarkers.I added some touches of glaze pen to the lenses on her glasses and wings. To give her bath a more luxurious feel I applied Liquid Pearls to the bubbles and dotted some more around the image. For something different and instead of the out of the box technique I cut another scalloped circle from a second printed image and layered it over the part of the original image that had been cut away.I was going to layer it onto a piece of coloured card to give a spotlighting effect but decided I didn’t want to cover any of the image.I die cut a few circles and adhered them to the vertical strip to carry through the bubbly theme.I recently bought the ivy and bird die and thought it would work perfectly alongside this image. The sentiment was a freebie from BirdsCards and there’s a small amount of Liquid Pearls on that too.To finish the card there are some flat back pearls too!

We have a fabby sketch from Anne-Marie this week at Willow Sketchie Challenge :

There is also the lovely theme of Animal Antics. You can choose either the sketch or theme. If you’re really up for the challenge you could even do both! You could be the lucky winner of a voucher to spend at Willow Designs too!Don’t forget to stop by the challenge site and check out my fellow DT’s beautiful creations.A truly inspirational bunch.
As soon as I saw this sketch I knew I just had to turn it into a criss-cross card! And then I knew exactly which image and papers I had to go for!The adorable image is from the Winnie Owl digital collection from Willow Designs. She’s been coloured with FlexMarkers and I’ve applied 3D Crystal Lacquer to her eyes, the honey jar and a thin layer to the puddle of honey she’s managed to spill everywhere.Glad to know I’m not the only mucky pup!It doesn’t show too well but I used a clear glitter pen on her eye shadow and the bee’s wings. The papers are a Rasberry Road freebie from a recent issue of Cardmaking and Papercraft magazine.
Here’s a piccie with the insert removed :

You can see the gloss better on this one as well as a clearer view of the papers.I also opened Winnie up in Word, played with one of the special Artistic Effects and saved her as a PNG so I could add her behind the recipe.I followed the vintage feel of the papers with the lacy punch and die cuts.To embellish I just had to reach for the vintage seam binding and pearls!
Supplies :
