You’re A Star!

At Craft Your Passion this week it’s ‘ANYTHING GOES’.Such a fabulous challenge – you can let your imagination go wild! Please click on the link to see how to play along, check out the fantastic (as ever) fellow DT samples and grab yourself the chance to win some brilliant digi stamps!!

For my card I’ve used ‘Playful Star Cub’ from Lauretta’s Digital Stamps. So adorable and full of fun – he looks like he’s ready to pounce, but in a nice way! He’s been coloured with Promarkers and the patches on his eyes were given a coating of Clear Copic Atyou Spica (although the camera hasn’t really picked it up).The papers are from The Wobblers CD-rom and are leftovers from a previous project. After adhering the layers to the front of the card I cut an aperture using Nestabilities Labels 1 (saves any fiddly measuring and lining up) and cut a frame with the help of a magnetic mat.I added an acetate window.I’ve made aperture cards before but this is the first time I’ve used acetate this way.I’ve seen it on a few cards and thought I would ‘borrow’ the idea.I stuck some more papers inside including the front to cover up where I’d put the window in.I stuck the cub, using PVA glue,by his paws and tail after shaping him a little with my fingers. The sentiment was printed from the computer onto Safmat, cut out and placed on a Maxi brad. They were to hand still in the bag as I’d never gotten round to putting them away!I’d not seen these before and found them in a half price bargain bin.I thought they’d be ideal as a novel way to add greetings to cards or stamped on for embellishments.

Guy the Gorilla

I made this card using this sketch from the Willow Sketchie Challenge set by DT member Jane:

I started my mirroring the sketch. The image and sentiment are from The Wobblers stamp set as are the papers.I coloured this happy chappy with Promarkers. The piece he is stamped on was cut using the Eastern Rounds Set of Nellie’s Multi-Frames.The papers came with the stamps and the green and orange card are So Mod Core’dinations.I also stamped the leaves and coloured them with Promarkers.I used a Sizzlets die for the corner piece. Some tiny buttons and some sticky ribbon add the finishing touches.

This is also an entry for Cute Card Thursday‘s Lucky Green Challenge and Die Cut Dreams No Flowers Allowed.

Throwing a Wobbler!

Alright. Not quite. How could you over something so cute?

I saw these on QVC just before Christmas and managed to persuade my DH to buy them for a pressie.I was lucky he was feeling guilty because I asked him for a couple of items in the Create & Craft sale and he said,”Haven’t you got enough stuff already?” They really don’t understand do they?

Well a few days later he told me to order the things I liked as he was only joking. The trouble was they had sold out and I was upset. So I ended up with these little beauties :

Two stamp sets and a matching paper pad.

I did actually make this a while back and I’m a bit out of synch with my posts because I didn’t want use the computer too much over Christmas.I also set myself the task of joining in with more blog challenges this year and I needed to post and link them before the deadlines.

This quite a simple(s!) card.Sorry couldn’t resist the Compare the Meerkat reference. It was made for a past Sketch Challenge at Craftbubble set by GD Wynneth. The twist was ‘Stars and Stripes’.

How lucky this stamp showed up in time to play!

He’s been coloured with Promarkers then matted onto some Papermania Textured card that co-ordinates beautifully with the patterned paper.I only managed to use a small amount too and that has stars and some faint stripes as well.I love trying to eke supplies out where I can.The shapes are cut using Nestabilities Labels 3 that I found on sale.Embellished with some star and circle brads.
