Easelcard-itis

It seems this type of card has been taking the cardmaking world by storm.Easel cards just keep appearing everywhere!

This card was made for the Willow Sketchie Challenge at Craftbubble set by Karen with the easel card style being the twist. I used colours to make this an entry for Passion for ProMarkers  Marsh Green and Burnt Umber  also.

Here’s the sketch:

The image and greeting are from Cute Characters set 4 by Personal Impressions.Coloured with Marsh Green,Burnt Umber, Olive Green,Umber,Almond,Putty,Duck egg Blue,Mandarin,Burnt Orange and Inkssentials Opaque White gel pen.

All corners have been rounded with EK Success Medium Corner Adorner Rounder. The image and sentiment have been edged with Marsh Green Promarker. The papers,Basic Grey Archiac, have all been edged with Burnt Umber Promarker.

A threaded button and a piece of jute ribbon, trimmed to fit, have been used to finish.

Some people seem daunted by the thought of making these. But they are relatively easy.I just used a 5 x 5 pre-scored card blank ,scored and folded the front in half with a mountain fold ( this means that the folded piece stands up to form a  ‘peak’),then fold your card it the middle as normal, next I cut another 5 x5 blank in half to create the front. You decorate the front as you wish and then stick this panel to the front of your card.I found the easiest way to do this was to place the card flat with the midpoint crease at the top( tent fold),put the adhesive on the bottom panel (it’s important to only place it there otherwise it won’t work ),then carefully line it up.This will work for any size of  card – all you have to do is measure and score at the halfway point on the front and make your front panel the same size as the card blank. To hold the easel in place you need to decide where you want it to stand and place a chunky embellishment such as a brad or a button or even a sentiment layered with foam pads at that point.
