The Big Cheese

Circles is this week’s theme at Digi Doodle Shop Challenges. Please take a look at the challenge blog for details on how to play along and be in the chance to win a $10 Gift Certificate to spend at Digi Doodle Shop.Don’t forget to check out the beautiful DT work while you’re there.

A reminder that ‘The more you buy the more you save’ sale still continues in store. So stock up now!

I’ve used the cutesie Mice & Swiss Cheese.I’ve seen a technique called No Black Lines using rubber stamps and thought I’d see if I could apply it to a digi image.I inserted my image in Word and had a play. For some reason it prints out a lot more faded than what you see on the screen so it took quite a few attemps to get it so I could actually see where I had to colour. Some of the lines are visible on the cheese but that’s probably down to my colour choices.I used my Ultra-fine Nibs on my ProMarkers to fill the details back in on the mice. This is my first attempt at this and using a digi to do it (don’t know if that makes a difference).I know there are people who seem to perfect this beautifully the first time but please be kind.I obviously need to explore this further and more practice!

I cut a circular card using Grand Nestabilities and then had a revelation! In the past when I’ve made round or shaped cards that won’t sit properly I’ve just merrily sliced a bit off the bottom but that kind of spoils the shape 😦 Now I’ve seen a tip where if you card front is too heavy you trim a slightly angled piece off the back.So here’s what I did.I opened my card out flat and placed it in my guillotine making sure the fold was lined up straight on the grid and cut a small amount off the back.Although for photography purposes it’s on a stand IRL it’s completely free standing without the hint of a wobble or a roll! Why didn’t I think of this before?!I then cut some holes in the top layer of card using Circle Nesties to replicate the cheese and added some grossgrain ribbon and some gems I found in my stash. The ‘cheesey’ sentiment was,I’m ashamed to say, created by me on the ‘puter.

Great card Lisa. Have seen quite a few no lines cards recently but am not sure that I am brave enough to try it!! You have done a fantastic job on this image and I love the layout of this card too.

This is absolutely fabulous! I didn’t realize the “no black lines” was what was different, and boy does it make a difference. It really makes the image stand out. Very very nicely done!

I’ve tried the no lines just once, not sure if I’ll try again, it is harder than it looks!

Lisa you did an awesome job with your card. It looks fabulous! My husband often tells me that he loves my coloring, but they would look better if there were no lines. What he doesn’t realize, is how difficult that is to do. I’ll have to give it a go. Kudos to you. Hugs, dj
