S’now friends like good friends

The challenge at Crafty Sentiments this week is Anything Goes.Drop on by to join in the fun and be in with the chance of winning a super prize.Don’t forget to take a look at some fabulous inspiration by the talented DT while you’re there.

I thought I’d dress Snowman and friends by Crafty Sentiments Designs up in some bright pastel shades using Copic Ciao Markers to break away from the traditional colours I usually go for. Some Frosted Lace Stickles has been added beneath him for a sparkly, snowy finish. The background strip has been stamped in Versamark and heat embossed using white detail powder.Pleased at how crisp it came out as they were magazine freebie stamps. The panel was then wrapped with some fluffy fibres I came across in my long lost stash whilst I was sorting out.The sentiment was part of the freebies stamps and the same technique applied. The bottom of the card has been dry embossed with another magazine freebie folder.Yet another card for next Christmas 😀

A Sweet Elf :)

At Craft Your Passion the challenges are Always Anything Goes!We have the fabulous A Day For Daisies as our sponsor too.Head on over to check how to play and win.Don’t forget to take a look at the DT inspiration, they’ve done a wonderful job.

Here’s the utterly adorable Candy Elf A by A Day For Daisies.Thought I’d try a non-traditional Christmas colour palette along with a different colour combo rather than just grab my usual favourite pens.As a starting point to the card I wanted to try an idea with these recently received magazine freebie stamps. So out came the kraft card and some white embossimg powder plus my Versamark pad.Have to say I’m pretty impressed with the results, not only from the quality of the stamps but the embossing powder too.A die cut poinsettia topped with a jute twine threaded button and some pompom trim have been added as finishing touches.I did stamp and heat emboss a greeting at the bottom of the card and enhanced it with chalks, but the camera has failed to pick it up.Also it has failed to show the shine on the sweetie given by the 3D Crystal Lacquer I applied. It all looks so much better IRL…never mind as the little elf really deserves to be the star of the show 😉

This is actually a card for NEXT Christmas (2017) as I’ve already finished all those for this year 😀

Sweet Christ-mouse Wishes

At Craft Your Passion the challenges are Always Anything Goes!We have the fabulous Deedee’s Digis  as our sponsor too.Head on over to check how to play and win.Don’t forget to take a look at the DT inspiration, they’ve done a wonderful job.

Once I spotted the adorable Merry-Christmouse by Deedee’s Digis I just knew I had to make another card for Christmas….2016!He’s been printed onto Neenah Desert Storm card then coloured with Polychromos Pencils and highlighted with a white Soufflé pen. Some Chunky White Stampendous Frantage Embossing Enamel has been melted around the edges. The same treatment has been given to the sentiment which is one of a few also included in the set.The candy cane embellishment started out as a plain wooden one.I applied a coat of Gesso over it then coloured the red stripes in with a permanent marker. What has managed to elude the camera is the added shine of  a couple of layers of clear embossing powder…never mind,I know it’s there 🙂 To complete the rustic feel given by the kraft and checks I tied a little jute button twine into a bow around it.

Supplies :

Image & Sentiment : Merry-Christmouse by Deedee’s Digis

** Please click on the pic for a clearer view 🙂 **

The challenge at Crafty Sentiments this week is Bright Colours.Drop on by to join in the fun and be in with the chance of winning a super prize.Don’t forget to take a look at some fabulous inspiration by the talented DT while you’re there.

Here’s the dynamic Tobey – Roller Skates by Crafty Sentiments Designs. He’s been coloured with Copic Ciao Markers with a few white gel pen highlights.I’m so glad I found these papers 🙂 They’re just perfect for this challenge and more impact has been given teaming them with this orange card. Now,glitter is usually the last thing I would go to for a male themed card but I thought I’d liven it up a bit with some touches of Glitter Shake Pen in gold for the centres of the stars and to draw around the shooting one on the sentiment. This was then heat embossed with clear powder for a cabouchon effect.A length of paper twine has been stretch across the border strip,a looped and tied bunch added then finally topped with a button threaded with more paper twine for a dimensional finish.

Supplies :

Beary Snowy Christmas

At Craft Your Passion this week the challenge is  Let It Snow.We have the fabulous Robyn’s Fetish and Crafty Sentiments as our sponsors too.Head on over to check how to play and win.Don’t forget to take a look at the DT inspiration, they’ve done a wonderful job.

For my card I’ve used the super cute Benson and Betty by Crafty Sentiments. How sweet they are!Yet another simple card where the image has been printed onto the base directly and coloured with blended out Polychromos Pencils. This time I’ve added some Fluffy Stuff to their hat trims and bobbles. To create the snow I stamped some snowflakes and heat embossed them in white.A Versamark Watermark Pen was used to draw in the snow they are sitting in and that was also heat embossed. The sentiment was printed onto the base by using a template on an insert making CD-rom after printing out the image (I used this to position the image too) and running it through the printer a second time.Taking care to put it in the printer the right way round of course 😉 Don’t you just love learning from your mistakes…lol… A couple of washi tape strips were adhered down the lefthand side. I die cut a snowflake and attached it with a snowflake brad to complete the snowy look.

Little Miss (Em)Bossy Boots

At Craft Your Passion this week the challenge is Embossing – either wet or dry.We have the fabulous Cardmadfairy and Simon Says as our sponsors.Head on over to check how to play and win.Don’t forget to take a look at the DT and GDT inspiration, they’ve done a wonderful job!

I’ve used Imogen from Cardmadfairy and coloured her with FlexMarkers.’Cos she’s quite a cute ‘n’ quirky image I thought I’d  colour her a little differently in greyscale and highlighting parts of the  image with colour.I also decided to make a bit of a quirky card to go with her too. After printing her I used an embossing folder to create a frame around her.I did put it in the ‘wrong’ way round to push the frame out instead of debossing it.I hand cut around it too taking off the swirly pattern that was part of the original design.I chose a few other folders and cut strips then glued them to a plain piece of card before trimming it size and adding the stitches.I took some silver metal corners, dabbed them onto a Versamark pad then coated them in black embossing powder.Whilst I had these supplies out I stamped and embossed the sentiment too.I also added a narrow ribbon.

Supplies :

We have a sketch for you at Craft Your Passion.Plus we the fabulous Delicious Doodles  and The Charm Barn as our sponsor. So head on over to check how to play and win.Don’t forget to take a look at DT and GDT inspiration, they’ve done a wonderful job!

Here’s the sketch :

For my card I’ve used the beautiful Steampunk Fairy from Delicious Doodles and coloured her with ProMarkers and her jewellery with a glitter pen.I used some Ultra Fine Nibs for the more detailed areas.I’ve made her a fIame-haired beauty to lift the brown.I distressed around her with ink leaving a glow of white around her.The backing paper I chose from my coveted Old World Stack as I thought it would go well with her. She’s honored – I don’t give this away freely!!I dry embossed a panel with cogs. Then die cut some more cogs and a bookplate and heat embossed these using a couple of thin layers of powder, sprinkling a lighter shade as I went to give a pitted, old metal feel rather than the glossy, smooth finish you usually get. A plain cog has been added behind her. Some ‘hardware’ has been added in the form of screw top brads (love these!),chain and a couple of charms, darkened with ProMarker.

*This is my first attempt at this style and my own interpretation of it.I had a lot of fun and creative time making this.Any die-hard Steampunkers out there please be kind if I haven’t captured the whole essence of it!*

Wheely vintage

We have a sketch for you to follow at Digi Doodle Shop Challenges this week :

To be in for the chance to win a $10 Gift Certificate for Digi Doodle Shop please visit the challenge site for full details.Don’t forget to take a peek at the DT’s wonderful work!

I really wanted to work with this fabulous 1930 Roadster from Digi Doodle Shop. It’s such a classic guy’s image. As you can see I had to s-t-r-e-t-c-h the sketch to accommodate it.I watercoloured it using Tea Dye Distress Ink ,adding a little Vintage Photo to darken the tyres, then applied some around the edges too.Once it was dry I clear embossed and when cool I bent the card to make cracks appear.I rubbed it over with more Distress Ink to bring them out and for a more shabby look.I did the same to the sentiment I printed on the computer.I took a piece of patterned paper, screwed it up (how could I ?!),gave it a rub over with Distress Ink,then roughened the edges allowing it to tear in one place (more paper abuse!).The angled panel and die cut cogs were passed through an embossing folder and even more ink was applied. To give a softer look I spritzed it lightly with water and dabbed it gently with a tissue.I’m so glad I did this.I usually pluck die cuts straight from the machine and plonk them onto my card.Doing something like this just adds so much more interest.I’d like to think this card demonstrates that you can use the same creative techniques for digi stamps that are applied to rubber stamps.
