Hi there!

At Pear Tree Designs it’s AUTUMN this week. It’s such a beautiful time of year with the changing of the leaves and,if you’re lucky, bright blue skies ans sunshine. So let the rich colours inspire you and pop along to play.Full details are in the sidebar and don’t forget to take a look at the other DT’s  gorgeous creations.

Our sponsor this time is the fabulous One Stop Card Crafts so there’s a prize for one lucky winner!

I bought this stamp set from Funky Kits last year and have to confess I barely used it.I don’t know why?It has hedgehogs and I LOVE them! It’s a great set with lots of stamps on too. It’s on sale now so it’s even more of a bargain!

You may have noticed I have some real stitching on my card.Apart from sewing labels onto parts of my cards I usually just grab a pen and go faux.I’ve always admired people who have sewing machines and stitch so (no pun intended!) neatly.I had been seriously thinking about buying one but wasn’t sure if I could curb my craft spending enough to have the money for one, have room for it or even be able to use it!Then I saw the Sew Easy Tool by We R Memory Keepers as a TSV (now at a higher price) on QVC and thought it looked a good alternative. It does have some very mixed reviews but mine arrived just in time to make this card and I grabbed it straight from the box and put it card and paper.I found it pierced both layers perfectly although I did this free hand and you can see a few wobbles.I noticed an arrow on the wheel so used this to line up at the corners.I think next time I’d probably get the ruler out tho’!!

A Few of my Favourite Things

It was Lauren’s turn to set last weeks challenge at the Let’s Get Stamping group on Craftbubble. Here’s the sketch:

A twist of ‘Favourite Things’  had also been thrown into the equation. With that in mind I knew exactly which stamp I was going to plump for. She’s called Dreamer (a Sugar Nellie from Funky Kits) and that’s precisely what I am!I’ve teamed her with some of my favourite products too:Promarkers, white gel pen,Stickles,Papermania Textured card and a Lip Pattern corner punch.I love these K & Co papers so much. The colours, the faux stitching, flowers, scallops, spots and stripes.

A close up of the Stickles:

I love creating cards with texture. Here I’ve used some jute ribbon, the D’vine Swirls Cuttlebug embossing folder with some sanding and Tea Dye Distress Ink swiped over the top.A threaded button has also been added. It’s a real shame it was so dull and grey here yesterday as the detail on the button really doesn’t show. It’s actually debossed with a flower design.

I adore this colour combo and it reminds of the Sun in the Summer sky. There’s also a chocolate and flower undercurrent running through this card. And who doesn’t love to receive them as a gift?!

We fade to grey…

I made this primarily for the ‘Shades of Grey’ challenge at Secret Crafter Saturday Challenge but it’s also an entry for Die Cut Dreams ‘No Flowers Allowed’,Kaboodle Doodles ‘Happy Birthday’ (as this was a card  for my DH’s Birthday),Ooh-la-la-Creations Challenge Blog ‘Anything Goes’,Stamp Scrap & Doodle Saturday ‘Open Challenge’ and Allsorts ‘Just for Men’.I think that just about wraps it up!

The image is Manga Boy by Sugar Nellie and has been coloured using all shades of Cool Grey Promarkers with Ivory and Dusky Pink skin tones.I used Red to give him some “Rock on Tommy” braces – I couldn’t resist! – and for the patch. The corners were punched with a Large Corner Rounder and Black Soot Distress Ink was applied around the edges with a latex foam wedge. They’re the dirt cheap ones that are so rubbish to put your make-up on with but work fabulously with these inks.He was then mounted onto a Nellie Snellen Multi-FrameRectangles die cut.The papers are from the Funky Hand Papercraft Factory CD.The brackets are cut from a Sizzix BigZ die and I attached them using some brads from my stash. The slider was cut from the same Nellie Snellen rectangles set and the sentiment is from Hero Arts Anytime Messages set.The grey ribbon is recycled and used to be one of those really annoying pieces sewn into tops to stop them sliding off the hanger.I hope my DH never gets to see the Dorothy Perkins printed on the reverse!!

Sitting Pretty

This week at Passion for ProMarkers you were free to use colours of your own choice to the theme of Buttons and Bows.I thought this sketch set at C.R.A.F.T. would be ideal:

I chose Promarkers to reflect the  colours in these Making Memories papers. All edges have been distressed with the Tim Holtz tool.I’ve been ultra generous with the Papermania buttons on this one.I’ve got a fellow Craftbubbler with a birthday coming up soon and I’m sure she’ll appreciate them! I’ve adhered a length of ribbon across the bottom and added some bows to the ends. The ribbon came from a lovely pack I picked up at the Early Learning Centre for £1.The Manga Girl also has a bow in her hair as well  buttons on her dress.I have to admit I found the prospect of putting this layout together a bit scary but once I laid it all down I was really pleased with how it looked.

I’m also still reeling in shock after discovering this card had been chosen as last weeks winner. The giddy heights of fame eh?

Purple and green Manga Girl

At Secret Crafter Saturday Challenge a colour challenge had been set. There was a picture to use for your inspiration:

I used a Sugar Nellie Manga Girl stamp and coloured her with Promarkers and gave her some white gel pen hightlights.I then cut her out using a Scalloped Oval Nestabilities die and a technique I’d not tried before to get her legs to dangle off the edge. The papers are from Making Memories and the card is Papermania Textured.I cut some Circle Nestabilities shapes and a Sizzix flower. The edges have been distressed.I would like to point out that the card and the ribbon and dress show more blue in the photo but,as they say,IRL it is more of a match to the papers.

Blue and white china

The challenge over at Stamp Something was blue and white.

Eeeek!I don’t know why I always panic when it comes to these type of challenges. Is it because amongst my copious amounts of paper I never have anything suitable?Or maybe it’s because when I normally make cards I like to fling my entire stash around the bedroom and sort it out from there?

I kept it quite simple with this one.An easel card using a Sugar Nellie stamp. She’s been coloured with Promarkers. It doesn’t show but I used a clear glaze pen over the teapot, cup and even the stream of tea.The edges have been sponged with Weathered Wood Distress ink.Pretty K & Co paper,a couple of punched borders, some fab grosgrain ribbon and layered Prima flowers with a brad in the centre. The sentiment from Personal Impressions has also been coloured with Promarkers with glaze pen over the hearts and the same ink applied around the edges.I’ve also distressed the edges with the Tim Holtz tool.

A stitch in time …

… well actually the less said about sewing the better as far as I’m concerned.I just can’t do it!But I do know some people that do so one of them will  receive this card.

This is my entry for the Cool Aqua and Cocoa colour Challenge at Passion for ProMarkers.

These are the pens Iused:

I’ve had this Sugar Nellie  image for ages but this is the first time it’s been used.I stamped it in Rich Cocoa Memento to tone in with the colour scheme then coloured it with the pens mainly sticking to the two challenge colours.Because I didn’t like the whiteness of the card I dabbed some Cool Aqua onto an acrylic block and picked up the colour with the Blender using the chisel end on both pens. The faux label, stamped with a sentiment from Hero Arts Anytime Messages has been treated in the same way.I did actually stitch the ‘label’ for real (badly) but it isn’t sewn on to the image .It just gives the impression that it is – I’m not that  clever! The papers are K & Co and I hand cut the scallops following the pattern on the paper on the brown strip. The cards used for mounting are Papermania Textured and Core’dinations So Mod.The Prima flowers have a button from my Bag- O -Buttons by Autumn Leaves with some thread tied and knotted before fraying the ends.I just love them so much as you get so many and there are some really unusual  and pretty ones.Well I don’t like use them too often – it’s quite a wrench to give them away.I’m sure the recipient will never know how privileged they are!!
