It’s New Releases Preview time at Crafty Sentiments Designs. But not only that there some exciting new products too ūüėÄ

Drop on by the Crafty Sentiments Designs Inspirations Blog¬†to check out some amazing creations ūüôā

As soon as I saw Isobel – Fishy Friends I knew I had to make one of these… ummm…not sure what you call them? It’s like a cross between a sideways tent fold and a slightly open book?!Well,at least that’s how I describe it ūüėõ

Here’s a different view as it may just explain it better than I do :

csdtnr21stapril 001

I’ve not made one in ¬†a while and I wanted to make it feel as if she were swimming under the sea.I stamped her out on acetate then onto my regular colouring cardstock. On the reverse of the acetate I painted the fish and bubbles with pearlescent watercolour paints, mixed to a thick consistency.I also used them on her tail and clothing on the cardstock, altho’ the camera hasn’t picked up the prettiness. Her hair and skin have been coloured with Copic Ciao Markers with a few white gel pen highlights.I then fussy cut her and overlayed her onto the acetate. It was pretty easy as I didn’t have to worry about any intricate details as they were already going to be there underneath ūüėÄ ¬†I added the pearls in her hair using using Cosmic Shimmer Pastel PVA Glue.

The card base was made from card in my stash and I die cut an aperture in the front. The¬†sparkly paper, that I’ve had in my stash from my early cardmaking days, stuck in the back. For a little more dimension I placed some die cuts to represent seaweed poking out before adding the acetate panel on the inside. The sentiment is from a foam backed set that is an oldie from my stash too, masking off the little fish that were on the bottom, and adding pearls to fill the gaps.A piece of netting from a cheese bag,a few shells that were collected from various holidays and a rose, for a feminine touch have been used to embellish.

The Fall Guy

Just a reminder that the Fall Colors challenge at Just Some Lines  is still running until 11:59pm EST on Thursday 4th October.Plenty of time to join us then! You could be in the running for a super prize and if you play along with a Just Some Lines image  you can choose to create an Anything Goes project or follow the theme.

For my card I’ve used the adorable O’Little Fireman.Just look at that cute little puppy dog peeping out from behind him!I’ve coloured with Copic Ciao Markers and added White Souffle¬†Pen highlights. His clothing maybe a little brighter than your average firefighters uniform but I thought I’d go with the colour theme on this one.Just had to use these K & Co papers, mounted on kraft, with him too.Metal embellishments seemed fitting for a boys card ¬†so I added some brads, stamping the greeting in Stazon on the jumbo one.Rather than ribbon I wrapped some paper raffia around the border strip to carry on the Autumn/Fall flavour. This card is for my son who’s Birthday is today!!And don’t we know it…he’s been giving us a countdown on how many days ’til his Birthday for the last month!Bless ūüôā

Sew,it’s a boy!

At Craft Your Passion this week the theme of the challenge is For Baby with optional stitching. We have two fab sponsors РPatties Creations and Scrapbook Unique.Head on over to check how to play and win.Don’t forget to take a look at the DT and GDT inspiration, they’ve done a wonderful job!

For my card I’ve used the sweet Little Boy Sailor Suit from Patties Creations¬†and coloured with ProMarkers.I’ve traced over the hanger using a silver gel pen.Now I’m not the World’s greatest stitcher but I thought I’d give it a whirl!I punched the edges of two papers with an EK Success punch that created a row of holes along the wavy edge and carefully back stitched.I pricked holes around the edge of the oval and again used back stitch.I pleated the paper along the bottom and made a pleated¬†rosette too.To the centre of this I added a giant brad stamped with the sentiment.I¬†finished¬†the card¬†with a die cut corner.

The power of flowers

There’s a sketch for your inspiration at Digi Doodle Shop Challenges this week. Please take a look at the challenge blog for details on how to play along and be in the chance to win a $10 Gift Certificate to spend at Digi Doodle Shop.Don‚Äôt forget to check out the beautiful DT work while you‚Äôre there.

Here’s Karen’s fab sketch :

I’ve made¬† a different card to the style I normally make using of the free Word Art sentiments from the Blossom set available at Digi Doodle Shop. It’s been printed onto pearlescent pink card.I’ve used layers of this plus some white pearlescent card. The papers I found in a Summer sale at my local craft warehouse. The top piece is a white flocked vellum and the bottom one is a double sided paper.I’ve used various die cut shapes along with a Martha Stewart punch.I finished it with some grossgrain ribbon and some little pearl flowers that I rediscovered¬†whilst rummaging through my stash.I thought the sentiment compilmented the wording on the flower. If you can’t quite make it out click through for a bigger pic.Sorry there seems to be a bit of glare of the card from my daylight lamp.

Supplies :
