Bloom-in’ Dreams ;)

At Craft Your Passion the challenges are Always Anything Goes!We have the fabulous Little Blue Button Stamps as our sponsor too.Head on over to check how to play and win.Don’t forget to take a look at the DT inspiration, they’ve done a wonderful job.

I’ve coloured up the beautiful and serene Mix Media “Peony” by Little Blue Button Stamps with Polychromos Pencils along with some Iridescent Medium painted over the hummingbird and her eyelids to give a shimmer to her green eye shadow. You may just be able to make it out?It was then cut out with a die to make it seem as though she had been torn from a sketch book. The sentiment has been stamped directly onto this piece too.I have to admit the card base was a little too small to place it elsewhere!I really wanted to use this die to cut the shaped card from as I thought it a good match for her hairstyle,so I had to compromise with the size.It measures around 5″ x 5″.The pretty paper was part of a magazine freebie.I stretched the lace across and held it in place with decorative staples. The flower, also supposed to a peony, I made myself by die cutting some white self adhesive fabric as it had a lovely texture.I coloured all the layers with Copic Ciao and Sketch Markers and once dry I shaped the layers.I left the backing paper on the bottom flower to give it more stability. As I didn’t want the second flower or stamens to stick to anything else I dusted the backs with talc…which worked beautifully 🙂 A black gem has been added to the centre.Three white flat backed pearls adorn the top right hand corner as I always think they go so well with lace 🙂

It’s time for the March New Releases at Crafty Sentiments Designs!

So here’s what I came up with as soon as I saw Isobel – Let’s Paint…

Well,as she was getting all painty I thought I’d join in the messy fun too!I started by stamping her onto watercolour paper cut with a notebook page style die then masked her off with the same image on copier paper. As I wanted a nice splatty effect I opted for a selection of,slightly watered down,Posh Impressions Rainbow Inks that I’ve had in my possession for quite some time.Just used the squeeze and drop from a height method…very technical, you know 😉 The only problem was as the ink was quite sloppy and the copier paper absorbent the Magenta soaked through on her shoe and paint palette 😦 No fear…stamped out again on another piece of watercolour paper, coloured her with watercolour pencils and the Posh Inks to match my splots then fussy cut her.No need to worry about those stray tendrils of her hair, they’re already in place from the first stamping 🙂 Can’t really see it from the pic but it has given her some lovely dimension due to the thickness of the paper 🙂 The sentiment has been created on my computer (well,Hubby’s laptop since my PC is still dead 😦 Cue violins) on the same paper and treated as in the main image. For the background I sprayed the Posh Impressions Inks from some Crafts Too Misters (this is what I’d mixed the ink and water in in the first place). These work great! And a lot cheaper than some other brands.I squirted quite liberally and allowed the colours to merge and run.Finished off with some kraft card,a staple, jute twine, paperclip and brads for an arty/stationery type feel.

Please head over to the Crafty Sentiments Inspirational Blog to see everyone else’s fantastic ideas and creations 🙂 Enjoy! The new stamps will be available at Crafty Sentiments Designs on 23rd March.

Die Cutting a Dash and Looking Dapper

csdt25thnov 001

The challenge at Crafty Sentiments this week is Use Die Cuts.Drop on by to join in the fun and be in with the chance of winning a super prize.Don’t forget to take a look at some fabulous inspiration by the talented DT while you’re there.

Here’s Billy -Mr Romantic by Crafty Sentiments Designs all dressed up.Altho’ I don’t think you need to save him for just that kind of occasion. He’s very much suitable for male themed cards too 🙂 My soon-to-be-13-year-old son (Oh!The joyful prospect of a teenage son!!Eeek!Help!) loves to don a trilby and waistcoat when he wants to look smart too.So this card is in his honour 🙂 Anyway, back to Billy…he has been coloured with Polychromos Pencils that have been blended out using low odour oils thinners and a paper stump. As you can probably tell I’ve made a shaped easel card using a set of dies that have also cut the paper layers too,the top one being a half and half concoction.I also used a die to make it look as if Billy has been torn from a sketch pad.The greeting has been cut from a die too.The buttons aren’t real either. They’ve been cut from red card using a die set.Yeah,I kinda went die cut crazy!!

Happiness is a warm puppy :)

At Craft Your Passion this week the challenge is Heavy Metal. We have the fabulous Kenny K as our sponsor too.Head on over to check how to play and win.Don’t forget to take a look at the DT inspiration, they’ve done a wonderful job.

As soon as I saw this loveable, comical Happy Dog by Kenny K I just had to use him on my card XD Maybe it’s because he reminds me so much of my girl :

Such a happy dog 😀 She even smiles when she greets you,no,really! She is the sweetest, funniest girl

Back to the card….

I wanted to give the image a feeling of being ripped from a notebook so I printed it onto this ledger style patterned paper. He’s been coloured with soft pastel pencils to allow the pattern to show through and on his dog tag I used a silver gel pen.A spot of white gel pen picks up the shine on his nose.I did apply 3D Crystal Lacquer on his eyes and nose but I’ve failed to pick it up with the camera 😦 Of course I had to choose some tree paper to go with him 😉 Our girl doesn’t have that kind of interest, naturally, but she does make us laugh when she tries to climb up them looking for squirrels 😀 LOL (you can just see one at the right hand  top of the paper along with a little wolf type character who looks remarkably like our dog sneaking up on him – it’s OK I’m sure she will never catch one – she’s so clumsy she’d trip up before she got near!) I ran a piece of woodgrain paper through an embossing folder to create more texture. All the papers have been Distress Inked around the edges. The bottom of each piece have been torn too.Everything has been mounted onto a card blank I made from some printed kraft card.As I have way too much craft stuff so I added loadsa metal items  😉 – see details below. Along with a little paper raffia and jute twine.I stamped the sentiment unevenly on purpose, honestly, then gave the paper the same treatment to tie in with the strip on the card.
