The challenge at Crafty Sentiments this week is Kids.Drop on by to join in the fun and be in with the chance of winning a super prize.Don’t forget to take a look at some fabulous inspiration by the talented DT while you’re there.

I started by giving Josh – Underwater by Crafty Sentiments Designs a coating of Pebeo Drawing Gum then created some undersea ripples with a few blue Distress Inks and the torn edge of a piece of copier paper, when it had dried.Once that was done I rubbed off the masking fluid and coloured him with Copic Ciao Markers followed by  some 3D Crystal Lacquer on his goggles and the bubbles.I cut a frame from some textured card using one of my new dies 🙂 This was mounted onto the card front with foam tape for added dimension.I printed the sentiment, made by me in Word, onto more of the same card and that was also mounted on foam tape.A few dew drops were dotted around to complete the watery feel.

Guitaring Into Shape!

csdt14thapril 001

The challenge at Crafty Sentiments this week is Anything Goes.Drop on by to join in the fun and be in with the chance of winning a super prize.Don’t forget to take a look at some fabulous inspiration by the talented DT while you’re there.

Here’s the sweet Let’s Play Music by Crafty Sentiments Designs all coloured up with Copic Ciao and Sketch Markers.I’d seen these shaped cards for a while in my local craft warehouse and thought about getting them several times. Then the last time I was in there they were only £1.99 a pack!So into my basket they fell…just like that! Also treated myself to these pretty papers…and then those rather lovely cloud dies drifted off the shelf too 😉 I cut an aperture in the centre of the card base then added the cloud paper behind on foam tape for extra dimension. The butterfly paper was laid on top with a punched border, which I cut in half, peeking out from the edges.A full border was threaded with ribbon and placed across so that once fussy cut she could perch on it.I die cut the swirly cloud then cut the dotted frame one from some hammer card and also backed it with the middle from that to give more definition. The stamp,a magazine freebie, fitted the space at the top perfectly. Some little pearl flowers and more of the same ribbon have been added to finish the card off.My DD1 bought herself a guitar just after her last birthday so I thought this would be good for her next one.Roll on October….lol

At Craft Your Passion the challenges are Always Anything Goes!We have the fabulous Kenny K as our sponsor too.Head on over to check how to play and win.Don’t forget to take a look at the DT inspiration, they’ve done a wonderful job.

As soon as I saw this adorable Polar Bear by Kenny K I knew I would have to make a shaker card.I’ve not made one in ages and they seem to have made a resurgence in the crafting world more recently, mostly filled with sequins as part of a newish trend too but I couldn’t find mine 😦 Does that imply I have have too much craft stuff?NEVER!Things have been kept simple here with the White on White (not done that in a quite a while too),minimal colouring in pale blues, clear micro beads added to the shaker element and clear dew drops for a cool watery feel. The sentiment I printed out using Word to give this a male theme with the intention of it being for my DH in preparation for Father’s Day 🙂

A bit of friendly argy bargello!

cypdt8thjuly 001

At Craft Your Passion this week the challenge is Patchwork Backgrounds. We have the fabulous The Sugar Kissed Cottage as our sponsor too.Head on over to check how to play and win.Don’t forget to take a look at the DT inspiration, they’ve done a wonderful job.

Perhaps before I get on to my card I need to explain my post title first 😉 Argy bargy is slang in the UK for well er… let’s say a lively discussion!(Polite term for an argument)But as you can see these girls are friends coupled with the fact that I’ve used the Bargello Technique for the background 🙂

Now for the card details.I’ve used the sweet Best Friends by The Sugar Kissed Cottage and coloured them with Copic Ciao Markers onto hammered texture card as I thought it would suit this vintage style image well. You do have to be a little careful tho’ as the Copics can be absorbed by it and bleed so you have to try not to over saturate. After trimming I cut freehand around the top not only to give a softer look to the sky but so that you can see a little more of the backing piece. This is the first time I’ve used this technique and I’m fairly pleased how it’s turned out.Altho’ on closer inspection I could’ve lined the strips up a little better … Ooops!Did I say that out loud?Don’t look too closely!I dug out some double sided adhesive sheets that I rarely use and the papers were a magazine freebie plus I adhered the cut pieces of paper to some copy paper so it was quite cost effective all round.I think the trick is to use papers with a small pattern and have at least one block colour.I’ve kept the rest of the card fairly simple with some coordinating card and just to fancy it up a bit I used a MArtha Stewart PATP set on the kraft card them attached it to a shop bought card blank.I printed the sentiment onto another piece of the hammered card to match then used another Martha Stewart punch to create a tab.For the finishing touched I added some crochet lace and a wooden flower embellishment with a pearl brad placed in the centre.

Supplies :

Lovecats!

jsldt16thfeb 001 copy

We’re so wonderfully, wonderfully, wonderfully, wonderfully pretty….well that’s enough of The Cure 🙂 and so onto my Love ♥ reminder post for Just Some Lines. There’s still plenty of time to play and the freebie is still up if you choose to use it to do so but any Just Some Lines image is fine 🙂

What could be more fitting for a milk carton than a couple of kitties 🙂 Well that’s what I thought when I saw Cat Love 2  by Just Some Lines. After scouring the internet for instructions I happened across one at A Load of Old Pickle but alas I don’t have a Hougie Board.Iwork in ‘old money’ on a Martha Stewart Scoring Board so I then found this one at Robin’s Creative Cottage which also included tips on how to make them in different sizes. So I’ve drawn inspiration from both and rolled it into one.And I managed it first go too! Thanks ladies for 2 great tuts. The box is made from linen effect card and I printed the image onto the same. After colouring them with Polychromos pencils I decided that altho’ it looked OK it wasn’t quite right (maybe it was the texture of the card) so out came the low odour oils thinners to save the day or the image in this case.Couldn’t be bothered to root around for my paper stumps so grabbed some cheapie cotton buds that were to hand. They work quite well on a smaller image like this plus there isn’t that much cotton wool on them to suck up all the thinners. They’re great for blending pastel pencils and detailed areas with chalk too.One thing’s for certain you wouldn’t want them near any part of your body!I layered up some spotty paper onto some red card and added panels on all 4 sides and 1 each side of the top too.I decorated the  binder clip I ‘won’ in a Christmas cracker (hoarding can be good sometimes) with more red card and  a contrasting spotty paper that were tiny scrap pieces.I added some ribbon and wooden buttons threaded with paper twine to finish.I’ve filled it with jelly beans to give to my DH.He’s not one for sweets and chocolate much (what’s wrong with him!!) but he does like his jelly beans… 🙂

‘Berry’ sweet shabby chic

cypdt7thjan 001

This week at Craft Your Passion the theme is Vintage or Shabby Chic.We have the fabulous The Sugar Kissed Cottage as our sponsor too. Head on over to check how to play and win.Don’t forget to take a look at the DT and GDT inspiration, they’ve done a wonderful job!

For my card I’ve used the most delightful Mushroom Elf – Strawberries  by The Sugar Kissed Cottage. You really ought to check out their shop. The images are just enchanting! You might be able to tell I like these – a lot!I’ve coloured her on hammer textured card using Copic Ciao Markers and turned her little cap into a Fly Agaric, adding white gel pen to the spots. As soon as I saw her I knew I had to use these beautiful papers lurking in my stash. They are  my absolute favourite and I’ve tried hard NOT to use them…lol…I love the fact that they have coordinating plain papers too.All edges on these have been roughed up with a Paper Distresser.I added some cheesecloth attached with staples,a small length of lace and some blossoms, with die cut leaves, made from the same hammered card having pearls adhered to the centres to embellish.Well, you have to have pearls with lace don’t you? 😉

Supplies :

Quick Christmas Cat-ch up

wscdt13thdec 001

At Willow Sketchie Challenge  it’s the lovely Kelly’a turn to host and here is her fabby sketch :

The them is Quick and Easy Makes.Don’t forget you can follow the sketch and/or theme. You could be the lucky winner of a voucher to spend at Willow Designs too! As well as a winner (chosen randomly) there will be a hand picked Top 3 and they will receive a super cute badge for their blog.Don’t forget to stop by the challenge site and check out my fellow DT’s beautiful creations.A truly inspirational bunch.

For my card I’ve chosen the theme only, even tho’ the sketch is brilliant,so I could incorporate this fab Quick Card Panel by Willow Designs into it.This one is Panel 3 and has been printed onto some lovely hammer card I found in my stash.I did add touches of a Copic Atyou Spica pen but it doesn’t want to show in the photo 😦 I notched the corners at the top and added some metallic brads to go with the fab jingle bells. Not only are they perfect for a Christmas theme they suit this cute kitty well too.I tied them to the ribbon with some thread type stuff I bought from the jewelry making section at my local craft warehouse. It actually has a plastic core so it holds it’s shape really well.I slotted another, off cut, folded piece of ribbon behind to give a holly like appearance.Ta-dah!There you have it one quick and easy make!

Supplies :
