Happy to celebrate!

The challenge at Crafty Sentiments this week is Anything Goes.Drop on by to join in the fun and be in with the chance of winning a super prize.Don’t forget to take a look at some fabulous inspiration by the talented DT while you’re there.

Stanley – Happy Days by Crafty Sentiments Designs certainly looks like he has plenty to celebrate! He’s a new release digi stamp too!!A double celebration then 😀 I’ve coloured him up with a number of mediums.Stanley, the bottle and cork have been coloured with Copic Ciao and Sketch Markers.Metallic ProMarkers in Gold and Silver give the label a foiled look.Stardust Pen give the hearts a glittery touch and some extra fizz has been given to the Champagne bubbles with a Graph’It Shake Marker.A few white gel pen highlights  and 3D Crystal Lacquer add shine to the bottle and Stanley’s nose. There…I think that’s it 😉 For the rest of the card I’ve used some patterned paper and wooden wording from paper of a Stampin’ Up prize I won in a draw at Cardmaking and Papercraft magazine’s website.Such a lovely surprise to have that drop through my door! The wooden star buttons and twine I already had in my stash.

Hedgehugs just for you!

At Craft Your Passion the challenges are Always Anything Goes!We have the fabulous Sasayaki Glitter as our sponsor too.Head on over to check how to play and win.Don’t forget to take a look at the DT inspiration, they’ve done a wonderful job.

These adorable Hedgehogs by Sasayaki Glitter have been printed onto  Neenah Desert Storm cardstock then coloured with Polychromos pencils.I’ve used a few different techniques with them too.Their faces and the sky have been blended with Spectrum Noir Blending Solution using a paper stump.I did take an artistic liberty with the faces and made them flesh toned as I didn’t want the hedgehogs to end up looking too brown.Yeah,I know – hedgehogs are brown 😀 The colours on the butterfly and bow have been blended using pencils only. For the ground and shadowing once I’d layered the pencils they were blended with a dry paper stump only.A little white gel pen had been added for highlights and a Stardust pen for a touch of glitter the the heart on the bow.I cut apertures in two sheets of patterned paper to frame them and stretched a length of ribbon across the bottom then gave the sentiment some lift with foam pads.A few jute twine threaded wooden buttons have been arranged in the top left corner in a higgledy piggledy fashion.

It’s no secret that I like (well,LOVE) hedgehogs…Quite a few years ago my DD1 caught a glimpse of one running across the road through our hall window one evening…What she didn’t bank on was a mad woman chasing after it with a camera!Yep,that was me… 😉

Which fairy is witch?

I had a lovely surprise being asked to be a Guest Designer at Crafting by Designs where the challenge is Good Witch/Bad Witch.

** Huge apologies.I wrote my post a while back then forgot to schedule it.Silly me – :S **

Given the nature of the challenge I chose to  interpret this as a fairy – and a Christmas one at that!!Sadly Bildmalarna have stopped making these gorgeous stamps but I managed to pick quite a few up at Dies to Die For in their retirement sale and at Bunny Zoe’s.Unfortunately it looks like they have now sold out of this image, Little Winged Friends – Christmas Gift.I’ve coloured this beauty up with Crafter’s Companion Spectrum Noir Pencils onto their  Neenah Desert Storm cardstock. This is what I’ve also formed the base card with and die cut the stitched holly border and sentiment from. She’s been teamed with a patchwork style piece of Forever Friends Christmas Kraft Notes paper.A few sequins have been sprinkled along the border and in keeping with the stitching theme stretched a length stitch edge ribbon across the bottom of the paper. The sentiment has been dotted here and there with a Sakura Stardust pen for a touch of sparkle.

Candy that is good for your ‘Elf’!

** Please click on the pic for a clearer view 🙂 **

At Craft Your Passion the challenges are Always Anything Goes!We have the fabulous A Day For Daisies as our sponsor too.Head on over to check how to play and win.Don’t forget to take a look at the DT inspiration, they’ve done a wonderful job.

How adorable is Candy Elf C by A Day For Daisies?Totally! And what’s more this cutie is calorie and sugar free 😀 All coloured up with Copic Ciao Markers and 3D Crystal Lacquer on the sweetie for that cellophane wrapped feel…

Here’s a closer look. Please excuse that the reds look more pink on this one.Think it’s because I had to hold my craft lamp nearer to capture the shine. That’s what I’m really trying to show…

I also used a Graph’It Shake Marker in Gold to make the little dangly things on his hat jingle bell like, but I suppose they could be anything you want then to be depending what you added 😉

I placed him on this beautiful backing paper and layered with coordinating green card.Around this is wrapped a length of baker’s twine. The wooden candy cane is painted with Gesso.Once dry I lightly ran a red Stardust pen over the top, allowing the ink to flow so as not to clog the nib.Next (as I couldn’t find my clear Stardust pen) I coated the white stripes with Winsor & Newton Iridescent Medium. It’s quite sparkly IRL but the camera failed to pick it up ,and not my lack of photography skills as you’d assume 😉 After stringing the bells onto a shorter piece of twine they were tied on,finishing in a bow.A tiny dab of dries clear PVA stops the cut ends from fraying 🙂 The greeting has been embossed with a magazine freebie border folder.

We have a sketch for you at Craft Your Passion.Plus we the fabulous Delicious Doodles  and The Charm Barn as our sponsor. So head on over to check how to play and win.Don’t forget to take a look at DT and GDT inspiration, they’ve done a wonderful job!

Here’s the sketch :

For my card I’ve used the beautiful Steampunk Fairy from Delicious Doodles and coloured her with ProMarkers and her jewellery with a glitter pen.I used some Ultra Fine Nibs for the more detailed areas.I’ve made her a fIame-haired beauty to lift the brown.I distressed around her with ink leaving a glow of white around her.The backing paper I chose from my coveted Old World Stack as I thought it would go well with her. She’s honored – I don’t give this away freely!!I dry embossed a panel with cogs. Then die cut some more cogs and a bookplate and heat embossed these using a couple of thin layers of powder, sprinkling a lighter shade as I went to give a pitted, old metal feel rather than the glossy, smooth finish you usually get. A plain cog has been added behind her. Some ‘hardware’ has been added in the form of screw top brads (love these!),chain and a couple of charms, darkened with ProMarker.

*This is my first attempt at this style and my own interpretation of it.I had a lot of fun and creative time making this.Any die-hard Steampunkers out there please be kind if I haven’t captured the whole essence of it!*

The Little Mermaid

It’s Anything Goes at Craft Your Passion this week.An easy one I hope you agree. We also have FOUR fabulous sponsors too – Fanyella,Wags ‘n Whiskers,The Artistic Stamper and Letraset!!Pop along to be in for the chance of winning some wonderful prizes.Don’t forget to check out the DT and GDT’s beautiful work while you’re there.

I was lucky enough to get to play with Fayella’s Mermaid!I had so much fun colouring this with Promarkers and a touch of Sakura Stardust pens, altho’ it doesn’t show up too well. I also sprayed the image with Crafter’s Companion Spray and Shine as this was quite a large area to cover. After cutting the papers I gave them a generous covering of Spray and Sparkle in Silver.I used a border punch along the bottom of the paper and card and offset it for a different look I used a  length of this sparkly trim as I thought it looked like seaweed.I attached the bow and pins using Pinflair Glue Gel.The paper and pins I found on offer at Colemans Craft Warehouse and tho’ they’re not made by the same company the colours tone pretty well together.I like these pins as they have a silicone cap on the end.Not sure if you’re supposed to remove them when you use them but these are definitely staying on!I can’t help it but every time I see any kind of Mermaid the song ‘Under the Sea’ pops into my head!
