Little Missy Sunshine

This week at Willow Sketchie Challenge it’s my first turn at hosting and presenting a sketch :

Along with this I’ve added a recipe :
I’d like to see you :
1.Add some shimmer/sparkle
2. Add something floral
3.Bring me sunshine -use something yellow

Hope you can play along! Please visit the challenge blog for some fabulous inspiration from the DT.If you like what you see don’t forget to send over your crafty friends to join us too.You don’t need a Willow Designs image to enter but we’d love it if you did!

I’ve used cutie-pie Missy  from Willow Designs on my card. She’s been coloured with ProMarkers including Metallic Silver on her crown.I’ve also added lots of teeny nail gems to her.I’ve used some lovely, bright,Summery papers and a few yellow bits ‘n’ bobs too.The ric rac I’ve had for years and never seem to have thought how to use it.The Prima blooms I’ve had an age as well. This was a challenge for me also as yellow isn’t a colour I automatically think of using but what with it being Summer I thought this stuff ought to come out to play!

A precious coat

Over at Willow Sketchie Challenge we have  a fabby sketch from Shell :

This is her debut as hostess and very first sketch!

For my card I’ve used Precious from Willow Designs. Not only do you get a pre-coloured and digi stamp you also get a matching backing paper too!I’ve coloured her with ProMarkers and added some touches of Copic Atyou Spica pens. You may have noticed she also has a coat of Precious paper.I paper pieced this.Keep reading and you will get to a tutorial on how to do this with digi’s! I’ve added some texture with an embossing folder and added some coloured staples for extra interest. The little stapler is only 99p from The Works and comes with a selection of different colours of staples.

Here’s a close up to hopefully show some sparkle :

Supplies :
Image : Precious from Willow Designs
Sentiment : From Pink Cat Studio Fairy Friends plate stamped in Jet Black Archival Ink
Colouring Mediums : ProMarkers including Blender on sky,Copic Atyou Spica pens in Pink (gems on crown),Clear (star on wand) and Silver (buckles on shoes)
Papers & Card : Precious backing paper that comes with the image, Papermania Textured Capsule A4 Colossal Pack
Adhesive : Cosmic Shimmer Specialist Craft PVA
Tools : X-Cut Guillotine,Siesta Small Corner Rounder,Nellie’s Multi Frame Dies Squares,Nestabilities Classic Squares Large,Crafts Too Stars Embossing Folder,Big Shot,Mini Stapler
Embellishments : Coloured Mini Staples

Here is the tutorial.

The weather has been very cloudy so the light wasn’t too fantastic but you should get the gist :

First print your image onto copy paper.Note which way the paper comes out of your printer. Here I’ve marked an arrow to remind me which way to feed it back in.

I’ve resized the Precious paper at 25% in paint. That’s the beauty of digi papers! If using Designer Papers just choose a small pattern. They work better.

Next trim down the paper to fit the part you want to paper piece. Not only does this allow you to choose which part of  the pattern you want to use it also saves waste if you’re using your favourite papers. This technique is good for using your scraps too.I’ve adhered it using a Stix 2 Removable Tape Pen (the green one). You can also use low-tack masking tape but you must take care NOT to place this over any part you want to print  out. How do I know?Hee hee, through experience!

Pop you paper back into your printer making sure you’ve got it the right way round and print again.Although in this instance the image has printed a second time perfectly aligned the reason for printing out on ordinary paper is this isn’t always the case.

Print your image out onto the piece of cardstock you want to use on your finished project.

Cut out and colour as desired. Here I’ve cut out her coat using decoupage scissors to make sure I’ve got all round the finer details. It’s been stuck in place using a good quality PVA glue to make it easier to slide it into position.Use this sparingly as you don’t want it to wrinkle.I’ve stuck this down flat but you could shape the paper using your fingers and add some lift with some Pinflair Glue Gel.

Hope you give this a go.It’s such a fun way to add detail to your images and coordinates them beautifully to the rest of your work.

Any questions on this don’t hesitate to ask.

Happy Birthday to Choo!

At AiFactory Challenges were asking you to Use Your Favorite Embellishment. You have until 11:59EST on Wednesday July 6th to upload your project using the link below. You do not have to use an AIF image but we would love it if you did and you get an extra entry. You can find some great images in the store here. Don’t forget to take a look at the DT’s fabulous work while you’re there.

For my card I’ve used Toy Train Clipart. As you can see I’ve flipped the image as  I felt it looked better that way. That’s the beauty of digital images.I then decided to coat the image in clear ultra thick embossing enamel. It’s so much easier than using normal embossing powder  as you don’t have to keep layering it up to get the result you want.As for my favorite embellishment…well…it had to be… BUTTONS!Love ’em.I managed to sneak in some baker’s twine.I couldn’t have put them on my card naked!!

For my card I’ve used the delightful Strawberry Fairy from Digi Doodle Shop. She’s been coloured with Polychromos Pencils and blended out with low odour oils thinners using paper stumps.I’ve stamped a greeting at the top. Both her wings and the stars either side of the words have had Frosted Lace Stickles applied to them. For the background piece I passed some green vellum through my Big Shot using a Cuttlebug Embossing folder.I’ve added some tiny gems to the corners where they’ve been punched and tied some delicate looking white organza ribbon (a little like fairies wings) through the vellum.

Fairy in flight

It’s the first Monday of the month at Craft Your Passion so that means it’s Anything Goes!We have three super sponsors Patties Creations,Wags ‘n Whiskers and The Robins Nest. For further details on how to play along and for some fabulous inspiration from the DT and GDT’s please visit the challenge blog.

I got to play with the beautiful Fairy Lacey from Wags ‘n Whiskers. She’s been coloured with Polychromos pencils blended out with low odour oils thinners using paper stumps.I added Diamond Stickles on prats of her wings. And for once I’ve managed to capture the sparkle on camera!!To make the most of her beauty I’ve printed her large enough to cut her from the smallest Labels 4 Grand Nesties and made the easel card from the same set.I embossed the bottom yellow panel and lightly sanded it to bring the flowers outThe other pieces have been too to emphasise the embossed edges.I’ve embellished with some raffia lace ribbon and some fab sparkly ribbon I found in my stash. The pins I made myself. They started out as  pearl headed pins and I added various beads from my stash.I had bought some plain pins but couldn’t find them anywhere – until I’d tidied up!You may have noticed there are no DP’s on this card. That’s because I’ve run out.LOL!As if.I’ve probably got enough to not only paper the walls in my own home but the whole street’s as well!!No,I just fancied a change and make good use of the pretty folder.

I have to admit that this isn’t a colour combo that springs to mind and the inspiration came from this beautiful card.

Fairy Dogfather

No,it’s not a typo – he’s a dog,he’s a fairy and his gender makes him a father!

I’ve used another stamp from the Fairy Friends set by Pink Cat Studio.I’m on a mission to use stamps that have never been touched by ink ATM.We’re going on holiday soon and I’m on a craft spending crash diet.I really need to buy clothes instead – what a waste of money!Anyway back to the card. He’s been stamped in  Rich Cocoa Memento and coloured with Promarkers and I’ve highlighted his eyes and nose, the bone and the wings with white gel pen.Because this is a boy’s card I used Glossy Accents on his wings instead of the usual glitter type stuff.GA has also been added to the same areas the gel pen was applied to.I printed a selection of background papers from The Wobblers CD-rom by Kanban onto white card.I pierced around 3 of the edges on the background piece and drew faux stitching with more gel pen.I cut a variety of Standard and Classic Scalloped Circle Nestabilities and repeated the process around the edges of those. The topper has been mounted using foam tape.I adhered the sentiment, from the same stamp set, onto the smallest scalloped circle and lay it over felt cut with a Sizzlits Curly Decorative strip. This card has been made for a friend of my youngest son,who will be 6 tomorrow.I try to keep it a bit simple with kids cards and just add some interesting accents.
