Keeping it Pengu-in the Family

cypdt24thnov 001

At Craft Your Passion this week the challenge is Baby It’s Cold Outside. We have the fabulous Delicious Doodles as our sponsor too.Head on over to check how to play and win.Don’t forget to take a look at the DT inspiration, they’ve done a wonderful job.

I thought I’d try something different with Penguin Family by Delicious Doodles. As the image is shaded I only added touches of cool blues in two shades of Copic Markers. After seeing demos using microbeads and double sided adhesive sheets I wanted to give this a go.It’s fun!!But you do have to watch these teensy little spheres don’t go everywhere 😉 I do have to point out that both image and sentiment show a lot clearer IRL.Think there is a bit of glare from my lamp bouncing back.

Paper-peaced Angel

003

The Christmas/Winter month long challenge at Just Some Lines is still going on.To play along you need to use a Just Some Lines image to enter and you could win a digi if you’re picked as part of the Top 3!

I’ve printed this beautiful, serene Christmas Angel by Just Some Lines   directly onto the kraft card base using a verse editor for inserts as the template. The top half of her dress, face, hands, wings and hair have been coloured with Graph’It Markers.I just love how they’ve turned out 🙂 So pleased with the results. For the skirt I’ve paper pieced with some pretty Christmas DP and overlayed the floaty part with vellum. The star after being coloured first with a Graph’It Maker was glitzed up with some Stickles as was her halo.I’ve added a couple of strips of glittery self adhesive film, one die cut, topped with some wooden star buttons. They’ve been coated with more Stickles and threaded with paper twine. The sentiment has been stamped in the bottom left corner.

Supplies :

Hedgehogs and buttons

I just love hedgehogs and buttons. And here’s a card with two of my favouritest things!

For my card I’ve used  a cute hedgie from The Best Day Ever (always makes me think of Spongebob!) clear stamp set from Penny Black.I got this set as a freebie for subscribing to Cardmaking and Papercraft magazine but I only made two Christmas cards using a different stamp from this set.I’m planning on using them a lot more for this year’s cards.I’ve coloured him with Promarkers and taken the whiteness out by applying Desert Sand Memento Ink around the edges. This is a kind of prototype for this year’s Christmas cards.I tend to pick a style and then mix up the images, papers and embellishments for a bit of variety.I also try and eke out my papers. So I cut  the snowman paper into 3 equal strips and carefully matched up the top and bottom pieces. The centre piece I’ve omitted shall be used on another card. I know there were a lot of cards out in blogland last Christmas using kraft card and tickets and I don’t know if it will still be on trend when the big day rolls round but I like how this card turned out and I’m going to stick to it.
