At¬†Craft Your¬†Passion¬†the challenges are Always Anything Goes!We have the fabulous A Day For Daisies¬†as our¬†sponsor too.Head on over to check how to play and win.Don‚Äôt forget to take a look at the DT inspiration, they’ve done a wonderful job.

How adorable is Candy Elf C by A Day For Daisies?Totally! And what’s more this cutie is calorie and sugar free ūüėÄ All coloured up with Copic Ciao Markers and 3D Crystal Lacquer on the sweetie for that cellophane wrapped feel…

Here’s a closer look. Please excuse that the reds look more pink on this one.Think it’s because I had to hold my craft lamp nearer to capture the shine. That’s what I’m really trying to show…

I also used a Graph’It Shake Marker in Gold to make the little dangly things on his hat jingle bell like, but I suppose they could be anything you want then to be depending what you added ūüėČ

I placed him on this beautiful backing paper and layered with coordinating green card.Around this is wrapped a length of baker’s twine. The wooden candy cane is painted with Gesso.Once dry I lightly ran a red Stardust pen over the top, allowing the ink to flow so as not to clog the nib.Next (as I couldn’t find my clear Stardust pen) I coated the white stripes with¬†Winsor & Newton¬†Iridescent Medium. It’s quite sparkly IRL but the camera failed to pick it up ,and not my lack of photography skills as you’d assume ūüėČ After stringing the bells onto a shorter piece of twine they were tied on,finishing in a bow.A tiny dab of dries clear PVA stops the cut ends from fraying ūüôā The greeting has been embossed with a magazine freebie border folder.

‘Fairy’ Good Luck to You

jsldt29thmarch 001

It‚Äôs the¬†final week of the month long St.Patrick‚Äôs Day/Good Luck¬†challenge at¬†Just Some Lines.Well, that‚Äôs another month over!To play along you need to use a¬†Just Some Lines¬†image to enter and you could win a digi if you‚Äôre picked as part of the Top 3 ūüôā

I’ve taken the adorable¬†Fairy – Bring Home Luck¬†by¬†Just Some Lines¬†¬†and tried a new technique – well new to me…LOL ¬†After colouring the fairy’s skin and hair I decided I wanted a softer look for her clothing to suit the background papers more.I’ve seen Nikky Hall of Polkadoodles fame use a¬†Mix’It Palette and a Graph’It Blender, with Brush Nib attached,to pick up colour to give a watercolour effect on Create and Craft TV.Now,I don’t have the pallette so had to improvise on that part¬†but I do have the pen equipped with the nib ūüėõ¬†I’m quite pleased for a first attempt and onto my usual smooth marker colouring card too!For her hair behind her wings I had already use a pale colour and blended it out and for a see through look I ‘painted’ over the top in the chosen wing colour.Personally I think the layering has worked well. After colouring the clover it just looked too dark and overpowering so I just grabbed the Blender again and used it this time to ‘bleach’ out the colour. So she wasn’t floating in a sky of nothingness I drew¬†a very pale blue/grey line around her and the clover then took the Blender and utilised it to soften the edges.Such a versatile and useful tool!To make her fairydust trail nice and sparkly I dotted it with a Graph’It Shake Glitter Gold Marker.I just had to use my recently acquired large corner rounder, especially as it took an age to find one, along with this pretty Tonic Studios border. The sentiment is a freebie from Netty’s Cards¬†(thanks Annette)¬†and the Good Luck has been colour tinted by a Graph’It Marker. Some baker’s twine has been tied to the border.I made some buttons from a sheet of this delightful paper and and an epoxy button sticker, trimmed with scissors.A little wooden butterfly button has been added¬†alongside these¬†and for an extra touch his spots have been dabbed with the¬†Graph’It Shake Glitter Gold Marker ūüôā
