The challenge at Crafty Sentiments this week is Bright Colours.Drop on by to join in the fun and be in with the chance of winning a super prize.Don’t forget to take a look at some fabulous inspiration by the talented DT while you’re there.

Here’s the dynamic¬†Tobey – Roller Skates¬†by Crafty Sentiments Designs. He’s been coloured with Copic Ciao Markers with a few white gel pen highlights.I’m so glad I found these papers ūüôā They’re just perfect for this challenge and more impact has been given teaming them with this orange card. Now,glitter is usually the last thing I would go to for a male themed card but I thought I’d liven it up a bit with some touches of Glitter Shake Pen in gold for the centres of the stars and to draw around the shooting one on the sentiment. This was then heat embossed with clear powder for a cabouchon effect.A length of paper twine has been stretch across the border¬†strip,a looped and tied bunch added then¬†finally topped with a button threaded with more paper twine for a dimensional finish.

Here’s the adorable Emo Basket by Just Some Lines who just also happens to be this month’s freebie. You can find her here. She’s been coloured up with Graph’It Markers in warm, sunny hues.Looking at the weather we’ve had this week that was just wishful thinking!!The papers are some I’ve had for longer than I care to remember and I’m totally on a mission to use my vast stacks of paper up – even tho’ there is great temptation out there and I’m finding it difficult to resist ūüėČ The only piece of yellow ribbon (not a colour I use very often) in my stash was too acid a shade. So I changed the cream one I found by first going over in Lemon 1130 then Cream 1210 to tone it down.A pretty good match for the cardstock don’tcha think?I punched out some flowers and gave them blingy centres ūüôā The sentiment is a freebie stamp and I just love this font ūüėÄ Let’s hope this brings on the sunshine!!

Pearls in Blossom

cypdt19thmay 001

¬†**Please click on the pic for a clearer view. For some reason they always look a little blurry on the blog page¬†ūüė¶¬†¬†**

At Craft Your Passion this week the challenge is Pearls and Lace.We have the fabulous Aurora Wings as our sponsor too.Head on over to check how to play and win.Don’t forget to take a look at the DT inspiration, they’ve done a wonderful job.

Isn’t this just the most adorable little thing!!She’s Whimsical Cherry Blossom Sprite¬†¬†by Aurora Wings¬†and I coloured her with Graph’It Markers.Little spots of Liquid Pearls were added to the stamens. Some freebie paper was used in the background and behind that I tucked a couple of lacy punched borders.Lengths of crochet lace cover the joins ūüôā I bought the fab cherry embossing folder a while back but this is the first time it’s been used and I love it!A chipboard greeting banner and flower that came with the paper¬†pack¬†have been added along with some real pearls – well, flat backed ones at least ūüėČ

My computer still won’t connect to the internet and I’ve really missed being able to download, print and create.Unfortunately when I got my wireless printer a while back I just plugged it into my PC as that was where the printing was to be done. Now,I can only access the internet thru’ my DH’s laptop and whilst I can download I can’t print from it.Being ‘clever’ thought I could make my printer wireless and connect it to the laptop. Not so ūüė¶ Appears that can only be done with my computer thru’ the internet….Grrrr!Yeah,I know I could probs set up the printer with the cable to the laptop BUT it sits on my dining table when in use and has to cleared away at meal times. If I wanted it on the computer desk I would have to pack up my PC and put it away – don’t want to do that!!Sooooo…then an idea hits me (doesn’t happen too often but it’s a goody when it does)…I bought myself a reasonably priced USB Flash Drive/Memory Stick (cheapest from Argos)…whatever you want to call them ūüėČ Now I can just transfer what I like to my PC and print – genius! It’s so easy even a computer simpleton like myself can use it – yay!¬†And the moral of the story is if anyone else finds themselves in a¬†predicament¬†like this then this may be the solution ūüôā

‘Fairy’ Good Luck to You

jsldt29thmarch 001

It‚Äôs the¬†final week of the month long St.Patrick‚Äôs Day/Good Luck¬†challenge at¬†Just Some Lines.Well, that‚Äôs another month over!To play along you need to use a¬†Just Some Lines¬†image to enter and you could win a digi if you‚Äôre picked as part of the Top 3 ūüôā

I’ve taken the adorable¬†Fairy – Bring Home Luck¬†by¬†Just Some Lines¬†¬†and tried a new technique – well new to me…LOL ¬†After colouring the fairy’s skin and hair I decided I wanted a softer look for her clothing to suit the background papers more.I’ve seen Nikky Hall of Polkadoodles fame use a¬†Mix’It Palette and a Graph’It Blender, with Brush Nib attached,to pick up colour to give a watercolour effect on Create and Craft TV.Now,I don’t have the pallette so had to improvise on that part¬†but I do have the pen equipped with the nib ūüėõ¬†I’m quite pleased for a first attempt and onto my usual smooth marker colouring card too!For her hair behind her wings I had already use a pale colour and blended it out and for a see through look I ‘painted’ over the top in the chosen wing colour.Personally I think the layering has worked well. After colouring the clover it just looked too dark and overpowering so I just grabbed the Blender again and used it this time to ‘bleach’ out the colour. So she wasn’t floating in a sky of nothingness I drew¬†a very pale blue/grey line around her and the clover then took the Blender and utilised it to soften the edges.Such a versatile and useful tool!To make her fairydust trail nice and sparkly I dotted it with a Graph’It Shake Glitter Gold Marker.I just had to use my recently acquired large corner rounder, especially as it took an age to find one, along with this pretty Tonic Studios border. The sentiment is a freebie from Netty’s Cards¬†(thanks Annette)¬†and the Good Luck has been colour tinted by a Graph’It Marker. Some baker’s twine has been tied to the border.I made some buttons from a sheet of this delightful paper and and an epoxy button sticker, trimmed with scissors.A little wooden butterfly button has been added¬†alongside these¬†and for an extra touch his spots have been dabbed with the¬†Graph’It Shake Glitter Gold Marker ūüôā

Sew Young!

**Please Scroll down if you’re looking for my other card**

At¬†Craft Your¬†Passion¬†this week the challenge is¬†Birthday Bonanza! We have the fabulous Heather Ellis¬†as our¬†sponsor too.Head on over to check how to play and win.Don‚Äôt forget to take a look at the DT inspiration, they’ve done a wonderful job.

I’ve decided to try and take a different approach with my card making recently.Rather than the usual patterned paper matted and layered onto coordinating card for the background etc…Soooo what’s the first thing I do here?Mat a piece of patterned paper onto the card blank :s Still at least I took the time to hand stitch with some baker’s twine. And then I did ¬†do something unusual, well for me at least¬†ūüėČ This lil’ cutie is Pure Innocence 013¬†by Heather Ellis¬†and you can find her by scrolling down the page a little.Heather also has a bit of a sale going on and some of her delightful images are as little as 50p!Anyways she’s been coloured with Graph’It Markers and is wearing a paper pieced dress. This has also been given some depth with a Graph’It Marker. Now for the diverse part…I’ve created this frame piece by die cutting an oval to fit the image, embossing ¬†some textured card with some loverly spots.Because my folder wasn’t long enough to cover it entirely I chose to lay it across the other way and centre it.Now what to do about those plain ends?Punch ’em!Now what to do about those pesky lines where the folder ended?Pierce ’em!Opted not to stitch them as well…gives a cleaner look. Then I positioned it over the top and adhered it using thin (1mm) foam tape. The little banners poking out the side were cut from another sheet of paper from the same pack.To finish I took an Epiphany Craft Epoxy Self-Adhesive Button and lay it over a yet another piece of paper from the same ¬†collection. No prizes for guessing it had buttons printed all over it!As I’m too tight¬†wise and frugal to part with 20 quid (!) for a matching punch I just made sure it stuck down well and trimmed round with some decoupage scissors, followed by a pokey tool to make the holes ūüôā

He’s ¬†The Boy & The Dog 003.The colouring is with Graph’It Markers and altho’ it doesn’t show up the puddle has a coating of ¬†3D Crystal Lacquer.I’ve also sponged a little ink around to take the witness off the background. This time I cut the card blank down them made the topper fit the length of the original size of the card. I kind of used the same principle ¬†with the embossing folder and aperture ‘cept this folder covered the whole area.I added two handcut banners to the base.Once I’d inked the edges for ¬†extra definition they were attached and I ran down the side with an EK Success Piercing Bug in a wobbly fashion then cross stitched to compliment the pattern in the paper.I die cut a couple of clouds and inked their bottoms….careful!…lol… XD A sentiment was cut from another piece of paper (as in the above card). Some of the edges were distressed and I added piercing to the scalloped edge ūüôā

Hamsters just want to have fun!

cypdt10thfeb 001

At¬†Craft Your¬†Passion¬†this week the challenge is 200th Challenge Special – Pick any challenge from the past year.We have the fabulous¬†2¬†Cute Ink¬†¬†as our¬†sponsor too.Head on over to check how to play and win.Don‚Äôt forget to take a look at the DT inspiration, they’ve done a wonderful job.

I just had to opt for this cute, cute Hula Hoop Hamster as they’re my favourite animals – just don’t tell my dog,OK?! He’s from¬†¬†2¬†Cute Ink¬† but I’m afraid he doesn’t seem to have made his way over into the new shop yet, maybe he’s having too much fun playing ūüėČ The owner is trying hard to transfer all her digital stamps and you can still check out her other adorable creations there ūüôā He’s been coloured with Graph’It Markers including the Blender to create a soft sky-ish effect around him.Yeah,sky-ish ‘cos it’s not a full blown sky!I kept the card fairly simple by adding this fab apple paper and a white punched border to contrast with both that and the kraft base.A little hand stitching in white to create a little interest plus my chosen theme was ‘Haberdashery Items’.I put a little ‘FUN’ into the card using the¬†Whimsy Spell It Out Alphabet Set¬†stamped onto self adhesive cork, then hand trimmed.Even tho’ this is self adhesive I still tend to dollop a little glue on the back,as with any product of this nature,to give it extra staying power!Three sweet little wooden heart buttons have been added higgledy piggledy (there’s a good old fashioned phrase for you!) style along the bottom.

It Bee all yellow!

cypdt27thjan 001

At¬†Craft Your¬†Passion¬†this week the challenge is Spots & Stripes. We have the fabulous¬†Bugaboo Stamps ¬†as our¬†sponsor too.Head on over to check how to play and win.Don‚Äôt forget to take a look at the DT inspiration, they’ve done a wonderful job.

I’ve taken the most adorable Bugaboo Brats Bugs – Girl Bee¬†by Bugaboo Stamps¬†and coloured her up with Graph’It Markers. The flower and bobbly bits on the end of her antennae (yeah, technical I know!) have had added sparkle from a Gold Glitter Shake Marker. After shading her wings, pulling the colour out for a softer look with the Graph’It Blender Pen,I coated them in Rock Candy Distress Crackle Paint.

Here’s a closer look :

cypdt27thjancloseup 001

The rest of the card has been kept fairly simple with hexagonal die cuts of spotty & stripey papers.I placed a greeting on top of one. This actually comes from Bees – Birthday from Bugaboo Stamps¬†but I thought it would work well here too ūüôā I’ve added some tiny black gems to her eyes, also to the ‘i’ and exclamation mark.I can’t take credit for the idea tho’.This is just the type of detail that the inspirational and super talented Bonnie, with whom I have the pleasure of working alongside at Craft Your Passion, adds – and I usually forget!LOL XD….To complete the card I’ve stretched a length of ribbon across the bottom threaded on a chipboard button.Have to admit yellow isn’t a colour I usually go for but it suits this gal perfectly ūüôā
